Pete's Place reviews
19The food is pretty good, but the prices are way way high. Expect about $40+ for a simple breakfast for 2, plus tip. We do not recommend.
I went in 20 minutes before they close and they tell me I have to place an order to go and refuse to let us eat there. That's ridiculous service. Most any other place will serve to eat in until closing time. I will not be back and I'll spread the word. I'm a local and have eaten at petes for years but now that Pete sold to these guys, things have drastically changed. Good food. Oh wait you have to eat it in your car, horrible customer service.
I’m giving two since the burger was good, and since I have faith they will do better. Went through the drive-thru 9/3/23, about 1: 45-2pm. I wanted to ADD not substitute a drink. My boyfriend said “can I repl. ” and the lady with pink hair made a weird face. So he stopped before he could even finish his sentence… & she says “ummm yeah no I already printed it up. ” & my boyfriend said “oh ok. ” & she didn’t even say sorry about that? Not that that would’ve made it any better, but she has 0 customer service skills. I miss the older ladies that used to work here. They were so kind, welcoming, and showed gratitude to ALL of their customers. I had to stop at the gas station next door to get my Pepsi that I wanted to ADD… also there was only one car behind me, so she could have easily just charged me for a Pepsi. Im sure the print out wouldn’t take that long. The zucchini fires batter was thick this time, my jaw started hurting from chewing tough/hard “fries. ” The zucchini was barley there, or the batter was just extremely thick. I could get over that, but it’s honestly the customer service… let the customers finish their sentences before making unkind/rude faces and interrupting.
Amazing! Zucchini fries were incredible! The breakfast burrito was very solid
Parking is in back, there was plenty
The burgers were good. Large portions for sides. Sides were pretty cold but still alright. It was rather packed so we had quite a wait. But it was a holiday weekend so we should've expected it. Overall the visit was good. I would return.
It was crowded, I figured its gonna be good. Turns out it's overpriced for the food they are making here.
I’m sorry, no picture.
I provide a rating in two ares, 1) service, and 2) food.
Prelude: Pete’s Place is well established eatery in Oakhurst, California. Pete, the original owner retired after 37 years and sold the business. The new owner made some changes.
1) you order and pay for your food at the counter. You get your own drinks (unless it’s coffee). You seat yourself and wait for the food to be brought to you. All the makings of a fast food restaurant, nothing special.
2) it’s been ages since eating at Pete’s so we thought we’d go for breakfast. I ordered the ham, eggs over medium, hash browns, and toast, $17.50. My wife ordered the French toast, eggs over medium, and bacon.
- the eggs weren’t even cooked enough to be called over easy. They were way undercooked. My wife sent her eggs back to be cooked longer to the level of medium. They came back just warmed but still over easy.
- the ham steak was about a quarter inch thick but was cut from a deli ham. It was dry.
- the toast had a dabble of butter on the center but was cold and dry. They put two jelly containers right on top of the toast, I believe that could be a hygiene issue. And of course they provided one grape and one apply jelly, both of which I don’t eat.
- hash browns. They did provide a copious amount of hash brown potatoes. I had to go back to the counter for ketchup of which they squirted some in a small plastic container. I guess they didn’t trust me with the bottle.
Overall, for the price I paid I’m not impressed. I think for the basic breakfast, next time I’ll be going to Denny’s for a Grand Slam. There I know what I’m getting for the price and level of service to expect.
Ordered the chicken fried steak and it was very flavorful with the gravy. Eggs were done well overall and hash browns had some crisps as expected. Utensils that they gave me were missing a knife so I had to ask for it once my meal arrived. They were friendly.
Amazing food friendly service. We visit here from Missouri and Pete's Place is one of our staples. The absolute best breakfast burrito on the planet!
The fried zucchini is literally everything. We started coming here in 1995. Bought land in Coarsegold in 1996 and been stopping in everytime I come home. Everything is delicious!
My friends and I had lunch at Pete's, a fast-food gem that left quite an impression. The meals were satisfying and the service was quick and efficient, making it a perfect stop for quick bites!
We were there for brunch both days. My BLTw/avocado was delicious. It is a restaurant we always visit when in Oakhurst, Ca.
Great experience, food and value. Pitstop from Yosemite. Visitors from UK and loved the US style breakfast.
Stumbled upon Pete's accidentally because many places seem to be closed on Mondays. We must have looked confused. We were immediately asked if this was our 1st time in. We were advised to order at the counter and sit at a table and our food would be brought to us. $20 for an omelet, I thought this had to be a mistake, especially for a small town! Husband ordered a bacon, cheese and avocado omelet. I followed by ordering a bacon and cheese omelet. The cashier responded, "you guys haven't been here before, have you? ". We didn't take offense to this, she followed that with good advice. The omelets are made with 5 eggs.so we shortened that order to just 1 omelet. Needless to say, the omelet was huge. There was about a pound of bacon and a whole avocado sitting on top! This also came with hashbrowns and toast. I love a big fluffy omelet like this. My husband prefers the folded egg over toppings, but that's not something you can do with 5 eggs anyway. Next time, I would ask for my hashbrowns crispy. The meal was more than enough for the two of us, with some left on the plate. I would absolutely stop at Pete's again on my way through Oakhurst.
I've been coming here since I was a kid. Always good good. Staff are friendly too. I would just suggest some updates to the decor. It's looked exactly the same since I could remember.
Ngl here they have Great food! Amazing customer service! And they pretty clean too ya Would definitely n highly recommend! <3
The best breakfast in the mountains is at Peet's Place; I had their biscuits and gravy, which were delicious and flaky and perfectly seasoned. Visit and try their menu for yourself; it's good. Even a drive-through is available for your convenience.
Food has gone down hill! It's greasy, slopped together, burnt or raw.what happened petes? !
Had a good breakfast with family and an old friend. The meals were simple yet done well. I had the French toast breakfast, it was good. I ordered 2 pancake breakfasts to go and the kids ate them right up. Service was great, very friendly counter gal. Had plenty of syrup, napkins, and extra silverware. There was a lot of seating available, and the place was clean, and condiments readily available. There is a lot of nostalgia with this place for me personally, but you can't go wrong with a Pete's breakfast. Will be back.
