Pho Vit 115, El Monte CA

Very rare and authentic Vietnamese dishes specialize in Ducks. Friendly staffs, yummy foods with reasonable prices.

Come for duck salad (goi vit, #1). It's my favorite thing to bring to potlucks. (It's also keto!)

The duck is juicy. I thought both the dark meat and white meat pieces were equally good. The pieces are big, but they do have bones.

The salad (cabbage+lettuce+Vietnamese coriander+banana stems+fried shallots+roasted peanuts) is perfectly herbaceous and fresh. The dressing is tangy, peppery (in a gingery way), and sweet. It's complexity at its finest.

As for the noodle soups, the duck pho (#5) is GREAT! The bun mang vit (#7) IS BETTER! The pho broth is clear and nicely savory; I have nothing bad to say about it. The broth for bun mang vit has more punch and more flavors going on-that's why I like it so much more than the pho. Both are great.

In both noodle soups, the duck is served as a salad and you add the salad+meat into your noodle soup bowl. My advice: if you're getting a noodle soup, don't order an additional duck salad unless you want a bigger portion of the duck salad. The duck salad that comes with the noodle soup is plenty for one.

If you're eating keto, the duck salad is one of favorite things. (Go easy on the dressing.)

I came for the first time a week ago. I ordered bún măng vịt (duck soup with dried bamboo shoots). The duck was cooked perfectly, moist but juicy, not dry. The duck salad was very good. Broth was tasty & not salty. Restaurant was clean with good restrooms. I will definitely return here soon!

This is my second time coming here for lunch and I love it here. Really quick service for lunch. They bring you you plate within 15minutes of sitting down. Loved the duck Pho vit #5

This was the short-lived Huế, which was ok, but this is a nice welcome of change to try out. The decor hasn't changed, and is still the same.
When we got our Phở Vịt, the duck meat over a bed of shredded cabbage came out first before the noodles in broth. For a minute, I thought I got something extra. That feeling of being special quickly faded though, when we realized we were supposed to throw that all into the bowl.
But it's forgivable. Service was REALLY good. The owner was really attentive. The only gripe was I also ordered the Cháo Vịt (鴨粥) to go as well, but it wasn't ready when I got the bill. BUT I wasn't charged, so no harm no foul.

The duck itself was brined. A little tough, compared to silky-smooth and soft chicken meat you may be used to. But the brine added just enough salt to it, and the sauce that comes with it has a nice combination of lime, dash of fish sauce, grounded up green onions and other ingredients. Made for a nice dip. Not bad. I hope these guys stick around.

The idea of duck pho intrigued me quite a bit. Let's just say that Pho Vit 115 didn't disappoint. The service and the food was excellent. Upon entering the restaurant, we were greeted with a warm welcome by their staff. Since this was our first time eating here, the server gave us a suggestion of ordering the plain bowl of soup noodles and ordering the 1/4 or 1/2 duck plate. The duck was flavorful, moist, and most importantly delicious. The side of sauce just added to the great meal. The soup hit the spot and didn't have the overpowering MSG flavor you'd get at regular Pho places. The staff here basically have all the common spoken languages covered here. They can speak English, Mandarin, Cantonese, and Vietnamese. I felt the service stood out quite a bit from a regular restaurant. The owner came by a couple of times to see how we were doing. When we left, he even came out to thank us for dining there. It definitely left quite a positive impression. I would highly recommend eating here.

The salad with duck was perfectly done. The service was great, they proactively refilled my drink. I suggested to add more meat last time and did it this time. I see almost all customers left with satisfaction.
