Piazza 1909 reviews
17Amazing service, everyone was so friendly and attentive! Got our food in a timely manner. And love that everyone came to talk to us and make sure we had everything we needed! Pepe and Julia were such sweethearts they really made our experience memorable! Definitely coming back!
Giulia was awesome! Great recommendations and great personality. Food is always great. Highly recommend the bruschetta!
Pizza was OK-
Was told order would take 20 minutes, I came back after 30, they told me I’d need to come back after 10-20 minutes (40-50 min total) because they decided to prioritize those dining-in (who came after I did). Not sure if that was supposed to be an excuse or good reason? I would have preferred to hear they were just backed up instead of being prioritized by people who came after me to dine in.
Order was for 2 pizzas.
We stumbled upon this place after the place we went to was already closed ; jetlagged with our very tired 9 years old son tonight and didn't expect much.
We had very nice pizza and lovely gnocchi with few glasses of super Tuscan.
Stefano is excellent chef, the staff, Federico made us feel welcomed and excellent wine recommendations.
After a very long flight, we felt like at home amongst friends with excellent food.
Strongly recommend it
We had our intimate and simple wedding reception at their back patio and it was amazing! Although we have never visited and tried their food before, we are beyond satisfied and happy with everything. Food and drinks are not only superb, but the service and ambiance of the restaurant are also perfect for our celebration. Roberta is very accommodating and patient with all our inquiries and requests since the planning up to the actual event. We heard a lot of good feedback from our guests and they really enjoyed the food, especially the tiramisu and wines. We are glad we chose Piazza 1909 to be part of our special day. And of course, it was a pleasure to meet Roberta and Chef Stefano!
OMG, Amazing. The food, the ambient, the authenticity! This restaurant has it all. The owners are so nice too.
Una experiencia estupenda y exquisita para el paladar.
Muchas gracias a Roberta y Stefano
This place is wonderful. Stopped on our way up the coast, we were craving authentic Italian pizza and they delivered. Great vibe, not too busy and the service was spectacular.
Fantastic food, cozy space, and genuinely friendly staff.
This restaurant we tried on a whim has become one of our favorite Italian spots. Had brunch here and can't wait to try them for dinner!
Never disappointed, food is always fresh and amazing. Good spot for a light meal of shared pizza and salad, or a complete celebration dinner. The service and atmosphere are delightful.
Wonderful experience! The staff was very friendly and attentive. We ate outside on their patio for lunch and it was a great atmosphere. We ordered the Homemade Bread Basket and both the bread and sauce were delicious! For entrees, both the Ravioli di Magro and Tagliatelle alla Bolognese were amazing! They were recommended by our waitress and exceeded our expectations!
Very disappointed to be there on my birthday, because the quality of our food was at VERY BELLOW AVERAGE! Was served some bread.with a terrible red sauce (tasteless) requested a spaghetti /meat balls with just very very very LITTLE PARMASAN CHEESE.asked for some more and received this answer from an older woman (blonde) saying ""but you have some. "" finally came back with a casserole of graded cheese to give me a quick HALF SPOON. Piazza 1909 is a very CHEAP management restaurant in a good location. La Jolla, CA. Don't be fouled they are not good cooks and trained poorly personnel that want Hight TIPPS for all around BAD SERVICE.
I had a reservation at 545 at this establishment. There were three of us, my parents and I. We arrived early, around 525pm. There were two tables sat in the entire restaurant at that moment. We were told we needed to wait until our reservation time. It was perplexing since there were only two tables used. We waited and during that time, one other reservation came and was seated on the patio. Another man came and wanted to order a pizza to go. There was a discussion and because the man was trying to order for multiple people, the worker told him he might need to try dominos instead. At 540 our table was “ready. ” We were escorted to the dark hallway with cobwebs to a table. We were disgusted since there were so many open tables. We decided to go to another restaurant, La Dolce Vita, where we were greeted with warmth and excitement. The meal was amazing as well. It also had more people seated at 550 than the other restaurant. Won’t ever go back to piazza 1909.
We have been coming here since they opened many years ago. Great atmosphere, great food, great service by Ren tonight. Highly recommend when in La Jolla. Pasta is perfect.
Amazing ambience, service and food. We got both pasta dishes and pizza and both were top notch authentic Italian. We will definitely be back ️
Delicious pizza, beautiful ambiance, friendly atmosphere. Go-to-place in La Jolla! If you want the best menu suggestions, ask Giuseppe.
Very nice place and cozy, but the lady who serve me and my boyfriend wasn't really nice. She never smiled to us and she was little unfriendly. But I guess we were not lucky because the other waiters were ok.
We ordered a veggie pizza and past. The pizza was not good at all, too heavy and not easy to digest. 4 hours after I was still very full.
The place is cute, except for the weird side patio where we sat, which felt like a hallway extension and had a lot of cobwebs. Our server was alright - able to answer questions well, but hard to track down throughout the night. Timing was strange - the espresso we started with took 10 minutes to arrive, and our entrees took less than 5 - almost too fast. The gnocchi with speck was decent, but the bolognese was exquisitely bland and sloppy in presentation. It’s an okay restaurant, but not nearly as good as its prices suggest.
