Service was amazing- so ironic that the one place I want to tip is progressive and headed in the right direction by not allowing tips and actually paying their servers a decent wage! Crazy stuff

Food was so good. We have lived in Lebanon and this place’s hummus was the first authentic hummus we have since leaving Lebanon- it had the right spices and texture no other place has managed yet. The vegetable pizza was talked up a lot and seemed good from the menu but was actually kind of disappointing I would avoid.

My Mom looves thé impossible burger (you have to ask for it) she says it’s comparable to Cheesecake Factory’s which has been the gold standard for impossible burgers according to her. Thé scallops are to die for- so well cooked to perfection. The mushrooms in the scallop dish could however be replaced with a mushroom sauce or some other sauce- as they were the mushrooms were a touch bland.

The food and the atmosphere is surprisingly good! We will definitely come back again! I found a lot people complaining about their service, but I think it’s great! The waiter and waitress are are very friendly and helpful!

Lovely restaurant with beautiful outdoor seating among olive trees deep in the UCLA campus adjoining a hotel/conference center.

Pretty solid restaurant located in the UCLA conference center/hotel. I ate here several times during my stay at the UCLA hotel. Most of my meals were really good but some were just okay (my steak was very over cooked). The service was hit or miss especially if you got table but all the bartenders were fantastic!

Situated in the heart of UCLA in their conference center is Plateia. I was genuinely surprised with this place as the food was delicious (and reasonably priced), service was quick and the hotel/restaurant itself was very nice. We ordered the avocado chicken sandwich and the margherita pizza which I highly recommend.

Delicious Ibérian Jamón Chorizo pizza and a great selection of local craft beers. Solid all around.

Very tasty food with good portions and presented nicely. Salads are very good. Price seems very reasonable considering the quality of the food. Restaurant is a tip free environment which is nice too.

Restaurant located inside of the Luskin Conference Center hotel at UCLA. The only generally accessible non fast food restaurant on the campus, Plateia serves Mediterranean inspired cuisine at reasonable prices. Indoor and outdoor seating. Accepts reservations. Noticeable noise level, but not overly loud. Food is good: flavorful, well plated, quality ingredients, well cooked and seasoned. Great place to eat if you're already on campus or are already parked in the area.

Collapse

My $28 hamburger fell apart and I could hear chicken fetus squealing for help after I called for a well done meal

Upon arrival I was shunned off and ignored. Not only did I need to plead for a menu, I was brushed towards the bar after I requesting to sit at an open patio.

It is now clear what this restaurant is trying to “advertise” after I received an postcard of what I deemed as slaves working on a railroad.

As a State Run Facility this restaurant is disgraceful

Nice hotel restaurant. Good food and service. Not inexpensive but a good value for a near-gourmet dining room Pleasant vibe.

The wife had something to do up near UCLA so she invited me to lunch at Plateia in the Luskin Conference Center. We had tried to get in for lunch previously but there was always something going on or the restaurant was closed for one reason or another. This time, however, seeing as how it was summer vacation for UCLA, we were able to get a reservation easily.

The Luskin Center is at the northernmost point of Westwood Boulevard. To park, you have to go in right in front of the center and down the ramp. They do not validate but it is an expensive restaurant in any case so the parking charge is just another drop in the bucket.

The restaurant is quite pleasant. Floor-to-ceiling windows that open to some tables on the patio. Our day there was sunny but a little too warm to sit in the sun. Although we originally requested a table on the patio, all the tables with umbrellas were taken and we felt it would be too warm to sit and enjoy our meal. We requested a table inside and got one right next to a door that was open. It was a good choice.

The wife ordered a chicken sandwich with a side salad and I had a pizza margherita. Sorry, we were too hungry to take pictures at the beginning of the meal but we did get to that before we left.

The pizza was great. The crust was crispy but not dry and the pizza had just the right amount of tomato sauce and cheese. I was very pleased with it. The wife's sandwich was also very good, she claimed, and it looked good, too. However, if you can call this a complaint, the meal was too big. If you've got an appetite, this place is great. For us, we had lunch tomorrow, also.

The service was excellent. The servers and other staff attend UCLA in their hospitality track. I guess there is nothing better for learning than doing. These people did very well, we were extremely satisfied.

When we got the check, we were a bit perplexed. The credit card slip matched the original check but there was no place to add a tip. Then my wife started reading a bit more about the restaurant and found out that it is a "no tipping" environment. My wife and I have lived in Europe, so we were both used to the no-tipping rule but it is quite scarce in the USA. So we signed the slip, took the boxed food with us and enjoyed the stroll back to the car.

Bottom line: a little bit pricier than your standard lunch but the service was good and the no-tipping rule was a nice surprise. In today's world, I like this way of doing business better than underpaying the staff and hoping that the customers will make up the difference. Just as in Europe, pay them a living wage and most will provide good service.

Also, we would have no qualms about going back, providing we can get a reservation.

My wife and I were on campus to see our son and wanted to grab a bite while we waited. We really wanted to try Epicurian, but it was closed due to a gas leak so we headed to Plateia. We shared a nice salad, tasty carrots and a fine mushroom and pepperoni pizza. Everything was well prepared and tasted clean. My only complaint was that there were out of the first two beers on tap that I wanted to try. But the meal turned out to be one of the cheaper ones on our trip, even though it is a hotel restaurant, since they don't take tips (how continental).
