Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen, San Gabriel CA

[8/2022 Update]: Had to knock off one star. There was a management change sometime in the last twelve months or so. At first, I didn't notice the differences, as they were subtle. I ordered a family meal last night. Most everything was good. However, the Cajun fries are definitely not what they used to be. They used to be slightly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. They used to be properly seasoned and tasty. Today (and I hope it's just today), the fries were soggy. Didn't taste fresh. They were saltier and lacked some of the other seasoning we're used to. I'll bring the star rating back if things improve the next time I swing by.

2019 Review: It's a small Popeye's but the food is consistently good here. The chicken is made fresh to order (at least when we come here). The fries are also made fresh to order and are quite good here. Not overdone and perfectly seasoned. I have never had a problem with the staff here. They're extremely patient even with the customers who don't speak a lick of English. The clientele in this neighborhood is about 60% Asian. The staff at this Popeye's is mostly Latino. So you can imagine communication can become an issue. It's particularly busy on Tuesday because they have a Leg/Thigh Tuesday special. I was tempted to remove one star because the A/C is weak in the heat of the Summer. Perhaps their system could use more refrigerant since the flow becomes weak (coils may be freezing up). We still love this location though, but the parking can sometimes get scarce at peak times.

They're quick. Last time there were 2 guys complaining about being charged extra for more breast meat saying Pasadena doesn't charge. Stop giving the lady a hard time! If you're not gonna socially distance yourself from me, not going to put on a mask inside under LA County guidelines, then go to Pasadena where they don't have any of those issues!
Pro-tip: a. Ask for napkins & hot sauce. Don't expect them to give them to you.b. Come before the high school kids get off school. No one wants to deal with that. Best to walk over & burn off the calories from the fried food, because parking is hard for any business at this center.

I might rate this location less since no drive through, but they were quicker than those with drive through. Also, this was one of the better spicy chicken sandwiches and red beans and rice that I have had.

Had an issue with the sandwiches that I brought from here a few days back and the lady who works there “Elvia” did a fantastic job helping me out with the issue I had. Great customer service! Thank you, Elvia!

One single counter open with long lines. Chicken are cold and the so call nuggets are mini (and cold). This location sucks.

I ordered $31 worth of food when I got to the window the girl told me that she didn't have change for $100 so I had to leave then I went to the other one and San Gabriel and valley I went through the walk-in or the same thing but she made an effort and asked her co-workers if they had any change and guess what they did this one made an effort the other one was just too lazy it all depends on the employees some employees will make an effort to satisfy customers some just don't care too dumb

Its exactly what you would expect or want from a Popeyes. Same lady has been working there for a long time she is always friendly and sometimes gives me extra chicken.

The chicken has been off and on as far as quality the last couple times we were there.
Last time the biscuits were terrible over cooked to the point that they were hard as rocks anr bit burnt. Maybe cooked twice to sell and make more money?
Sad in the past this location was spot on and perfect.
We may never stop again if we are in the area to get chicken or biscuits.
Workers have got careless and not careful as in the past.

No problems, lot busy so I parked on the street. Alex brought my food to the table and it was good, it’s a Saturday and I waited no more than three minutes

This place used to be great.now they dont care I spent just like $33.
But I expect my food be well done, cole slow all and nasty, the mac n cheese, horrible, they charge me $1 for 2 chilis, they are crazy if they think their food is good.

They give me old chicken. All the chicken are re-cook. I am feel so bad. I don’t want to buy chicken at this place anymore.

OMG! Don’t come here if you are a newish driver or if you value your new ride! The parking lot is a test of both skill and tolerance! I had to guard our SUV while my wife and son went inside to order (I was not the only one on guard duty that day), and as an added bonus I helped an overly cautious, and rightly so, little old lady do a 7 point back out from her parking spot so she could safely exit the parking lot unscathed (she was very appreciative️). If you do brave this hell on earth, for the love of all that is holy, follow the one-way arrows! This lot just might give someone a coronary someday!

Worst Popeyes I have been. Wish to give 0 star or negative if I could.
The lady in the register told me that I have to purchase fountain drink cup to get WATER in this store.
Immediately left, and don't wanna buy anything in this store.
Customer service sucks here. Never wanna walking in this store anymore. Extremely bad impact to Popeyes brand.
