Powerhouse Park & Beach, Del Mar CA

Two sets of restrooms. One by lifeguard station and the other on the bottom floor beach side of south building. Grassy area on the south side.

Great beach and has extra area in the grass if you don’t want to be on the sand but still next to the ocean.

Beautiful park right by the beach! Excellent spot for small parties, gathering, birthday celebrations and even weddings! Fantastic place to chill out on the beach and relax by the lush green grass at the park. Wonderful beachfront restaurants to dine in.

Beautiful place to chill while surfers can play in waters. Nice spot to see sunset as well.

Beautiful grassy area w/ gorgeous sand beach below; family friendly but limited parking especially during summertime & special events, a great place to watch the sunset, very convenient w/ two restaurants & a snack bar right next to it. One of our favorite spots to go surf workout or just walk along the shoreline.

Idyllic beach front setting if you don't enjoy the sand in your toes. Free pre Covid concerts during the summer. Cheers!

Powerhouse Park & Beach is a beautiful area to hang out, with wide grass lawn, playground & wooden benches perched at perfect points overlooking the ocean. It's a great place to walk this super flat sandy beach, surf, or do what I saw a little boy engaged in on 12/29/20, dig in the sand. Gorgeous day after all that rain! There were quite a few people here today, as well. Where else would you be on a day like this? Sunshine & puffy white clouds were the perfect backdrop, along with the surf & sand.

Jake's with it's spectacular ocean views and great food is right here too. This oceanfront restaurant has righteous food choices. I've never done dinner here. My wife & I've just ordered appetizers, as we typically get here in the early afternoon. Jake's Ceviche is so good, and their Baja Fish Tacos are some of the best you'll eat in San Diego County. Views of radiant Del Mar Beach are plentiful through all the picture windows that line the western side of this eatery/bar.

FYI: I have noticed during high tide at Powerhouse Beach, the sand can be a bit difficult to traverse without getting your feet wet, as skim from the waves approaches the cliffs.

Absolutely love this beach! We usually park in the neighborhoods to the north. But love that there are bathrooms and showers by the fire station!

This is a great spot to got the beach in Del Mar. The park provides a nice grass area if you'd prefer to set up there, and everything is accessible by for from here. The only reason I give it four and not five stars is the parking issue. Metered parking in the street is tough to find, while the parking lot across the street is easy, but pricey.

I performed a wedding ceremony and the venue was absolutely beautiful. The wedding couple were very happy with their special day.

So beautiful - even on a cloudy day. 2 weddings were playing out, there's a kid friendly area with no pets allowed, the rest is pet friendly.

Fun to watch the different groups in the morning doing their exercises. Everyone was pleasant to meet. Very windy. I did some artwork in the park. Always interesting.

Such a great beach! Bring a body or surf board and make day of it, plenty of room for everyone to have a great time! Get there early and find or pay for parking in the lot. Equipment is available for rent in the parking lot. Heads up, it is busy by 10:)

Beautiful beach, very clean and lots of space to sit back and relax. Plenty of benches and tables if you want to picnic or even space on the sand. It was pretty crowded when we went (and it was after 6pm). I am not much of a beach runner so I wish there was a little more space to take a walk around the beach but still great place to hang out. We've been for the Rudolph 5k around Christmas time and you walk on the sand, lots of fun. Again very relaxing and actually quiet of you are looking for a place to just chill. We just sat and watched the surfers and enjoyed the cooler weather.

UPDATE

This is an amazing Beach. I had no idea how great it is. The waves are easygoing which differs from several beaches that I love. I have to say that this is one of my new favorites. All the locals are having a good time and this seems like a very wholesome place to be. I definitely recommend it.

This is a beautiful Park. Sometimes it's kind of crowded so that's a bit of an issue in the times of covid, Del Mar has a very high mask wearing ratio, which is impressive. Although I would say the ratio is lower for mask wearing in this park and on the beach which is stressing.

There are good views and it's very relaxing, there's lots of good energy as offer in many spots in Del Mar. There are many spots to enjoy a good nook or find your corner to enjoy sunsets and the location.

Del Mar is a great day trip and a beautiful area to hike, swim, explore and just enjoy good energy of happy people who happen to be polite, the town is filled with a very polite, intelligent and kind courteous conscientious people and it's a joy to see that.

There's a good ratio of ages enjoying the day on weekends and weekdays in Del Mar. It's a nice, very high quality zip code and a nice place to visit and live.

Fishing vessel anchoring just off of the beach. Loads of great food places to try out. I have a beach wheelchair free, complements of the lifeguard. Public hourly fee parking lot across the street, able to pay for multiple hours. After labor day, they allow dogs on the beach, but have seen several sitting with families.
