Great class for CCW required training. I was able to sign up via the web page. I was happily surprised that my questions via email were so quickly and personally responded. But don't forget the importance of a enthusiast friendly and spirited teacher with interesting anecdotes and experience to share to keep the required class time flying. Overall the class was very positive and encouraging to students of all levels and interests, and even included some simulation training to help really instill the concepts.

Thanks Joel, I'm almost looking forward to my required renewal class in a very few years. (Or maybe some of the other training provided)

Joel teaches a very informative class, and does it in an enjoyable way. Not like a regular classroom. He answers our many questions with grace. Very enjoyable. I highly recommend getting your training through Practical Defense Systems.

Joel is an incredible instructor. No death by power point in his courses; just relevant information and high quality training. Instructors should take Joel’s courses so they can see how to instruct in a way that keeps students engaged, makes students want to learn more, and presents information in a fashion that will stick. I haven’t walked away from too many courses thinking ‘that was, without question, worth the investment. ’ Joel’s CCW course was, without question, worth the investment and I am very much looking forward to taking more of Joel’s courses. It is so refreshing to take firearms related courses and not see any of the stereotypes associated with ‘gun culture. ’ Joel is an absolute professional and his course is comfortable and enjoyable for everyone from the most grizzled veteran to the person with little to no experience with firearms.

Engaging and highly interactive course mixed with lecture, tactical exercises, and Q&A. Joel Persinger has a lot of experience in the field and was able to articulate that experience through the material he presented. I would highly recommend PDS for CCW classes. This is second experience and it was consistent with my first experience. Don't go anywhere else but PDS!

I highly recommend Home Defense Basics! I have been shooting for a number of years and there is no comparison to range and target shooting as there is to this well designed and instructional class. Both Joel and Dave brought their wealth of military, law enforcement and instructor experience and knowledge to the course. The real-life scenarios and encounters, test and train you for potential life circumstances. The life-like digital situations support your split-second decision making and reactions that help prepare you for the real world. I plan to take Active Shooter and other courses through Practical Defense Systems. Excellent!

Our class experience was top notch. They addressed all our church security training requests with professionalism and personal reflections backed by their lifetime experiences in law enforcement as officers and officer trainers. The one-on-one interactions were never brash, they always took the time to listen and respond in a very polite, helpful manner. The time spent in preparing for our visit and making sure our needs were met was greatly appreciated. Their post review of our experience and possible planning for future classes was a great example of their desire to improve our security safety and professionalism. We will be taking additional training from Practical Defense Systems.

Training was informative, current based upon today’s circumstances, they answered all questions, and the interactive screen scenarios were very helpful to show weaknesses and strengths in difficult situations. I highly recommend this training.
