Precision Eyecare Optometry Placerville reviews
17My husband and I had an appointment with precision eyecare today. We were treated very well and our doctor is so personable and worked very hard to get our prescriptions just right. Thoroughly enjoyed our experience there. The women behind the counter did a great job with billing and with fitting us with frames and lenses. Always a positive experience there.
Dr. Perkins and his office staff are professional, thorough and friendly. Over the years, I have been to rushed Dr's offices or encountered unfriendly staff. Visiting Precision Eye Care was a great experience. Additionally, Dr. Perkins was great to engage in conversation. Thank you all for the exceptional treatment.
The staff is very playful experienced and very helpful. The doctor took time to explain things so that I could understand easily. Would highly recommend.
The fact that this place is rated 4.9/5.0 makes me doubt the authenticity of some of these reviews, because my experience there was nothing short of awful. I came here just to get an updated prescription for glasses and contacts. In my initial visit I was brought through the standard machines to see retina health, etc. The assistant was not very welcoming. When I saw Dr. Perkins we went through the normal "1 or 2.2 or 3" rigmarole. After about twenty minutes he tells me he is going to dilate my eyes, which I did not think was necessary. Then I was fitted for contact lenses, which I did not need nor ask for. As he handed me the contacts to put in my eyes he says "oh yeah, I should probably mention that there is a $45 charge for the fitting". I tell him the contacts feel weird and blurry, to which he says "that is because of the dilation". So, if he was aware that dilation can effect eyesight, I am not sure why he would have me try out a new prescription AFTER the dilation. I took the contacts home and compared them to my current prescription and saw that they were way off. I gave this new set of contacts a fair chance, but in the end they were far too difficult to adjust to.
I called back a couple months later to get the prescription corrected. This time Dr. Perkins seemed like he had much better places to be and rushed me through the "1 or 2.3 or 4" process again, but this time much faster. He seemed to be annoyed any time I brought a concern of mine, presumably because it would have made the appointment longer. God forbid. This time he starts asking me question such as "do you want the contacts for astigmatism? Or no astigmatism? Do you want the -4.00 or the -3.50? Do you want the 030 or the 020? " and said remarks such as "don't worry if its blurry, I am going to get a different size" and " try it on and sit in this room for ten minutes to let them adjust, but don't be surprised if they aren't perfect". Every comment or question only made me wonder how I ended up in this place. I have worm glasses and contacts since I was a toddler, and been to countless optometrists. I have never been asked so many questions, that honestly seemed to be drastically significant to my overall eyesight and prescription. People go to doctors because they are the subject matter experts. To me, it felt like this person either did not know what he was doing and genuinely wanted to know what I think he should do, OR he is trying to pass off liability to the patient by making it their decision, instead of his.
In addition, while I waited for my ill-fitting contacts to "adjust", I could not help but overhear the very rude front desk ladies arguing with another patient over what was covered by insurance and what was not. I am sure this is a common conversation, but what struck me off guard was the level of unprofessionalism that those same ladies exhibited after the customer left. The ladies started laughing and ridiculing the customer for her lack of knowledge.
To top it all off, Dr. Perkins ends our second engagement by stating he will be ordering a sample pair of contacts with a new prescription which "shouldn't take more than two business days". It has now been 11 days, 6 work days. I have had zero communications from this office. I will definitely be returning to my previous doctor in Folsom (Dr. Hoffman if anyone is wondering). Trust me guys, it is worth the drive after visiting this place.
Great people great service.they worked to get me my glasses and contacts at a great price and a rebate!

Very thorough first visit. I am new to the area and needed a new optometrist I am happy with my choice so far.
Very professional and caring doctor, I have several eye issues to deal with, He Explained the test details in a way, I could easily understand.
I would very much recommend this doctor to everyone.
Super good service. Friendly staff always with smiles. And the eye doctor knows his stuff.
Needed to quickly frame some lenses that were in a broken frame, July 2023. The two ladies there nailed it efficiently and effectively. Thanks again.
The staff is very pleasant and helpful with regards to insurance and cost of frames and lenses. Dr. Perkins is most through with examining eyes explaining what is going on. He takes a genuine interest in what he does, all the while being kind and thoughtful. I’m very pleased to have found him after moving to this area.
