Presidio Golf Course reviews
20Great golf course but making reservations is miserable. No way to do it online and they never pick up the phone
The greens on the back are being aerated. No prior notice. The mower followed us around the whole time and glared at us while we putted. We were delayed by the starter and told to catch up by the marshall. Stressful round. Not a great showing Presidio.
Presidio was quite disappointing. As someone who has golfed many world class courses around the US like Valhalla, Hazeltine, and Rio Secco to name a few, I was expecting Presidio to be up there too. Unfortunately, we were met with an extremely pompous and unaccommodating staff to start. They were some of the rudest people I’ve ever met at a golf course. Once on the course, it didn’t live up to the standards I had hoped for. It was in ok shape with the greens running much much slower than expected. Several places on the course were unkempt from a grounds maintenance viewpoint. As a non resident who doesn’t know the history here, it seemed like Presidio was a private course at one time, that is now semi private or public because they couldn’t make it in that world. Unfortunately it still has that same feel as a traditional old private stuffy course that only welcomes people they like, which is kinda odd for a city that’s so diverse. Maybe one day I’ll give this course another chance.but not for a while.
Easter Sunday driving range was perfect. Got there around 10: 45am. Plenty of parking, friendly staff. Great weather. Get the range card. Machines take only exact change. Call club house ahead of time to pre-purchase the range card to buy bucket of balls. Large bucket $15 is 100 balls. I forget about the the other sizes.
Thus is a real gem. World class design from yesteryear. A tough walk, but walking is the way to go.
Beautiful is how to describe this otherwise difficult course. Hills and trees make you play your best or else. Lots of lost balls here, come prepared.
The course was in good shape, but there are too many blind shots. The staff was as rude as I've ever experienced. The worst part of the day was the carts and their awful GPS, which will only run at 2mph starting at 150yds out. I understand regulating cart use w in 75-100 yards, but 150 is unreasonable. The carts would also stop working at completely random areas of the course, saying that the area was 'restricted. ' Total joke. So many better options around.
Beautiful, well maintained golf course located right in the city. They have twilight rates if you want to just get a few holes in before sunset.
Course was in really really bad shape due to rains. Flight delay, missed tee time. Played the next day. Apologized for missing tee time. NO MENTION of the $100 cancellation fee I was charged for the previous day. Nice!
I've played here hundreds of times and love the layout and it plays great when in good condition. But yesterday's round was unacceptable. Over 5 hours for 16 holes. Marshall was on us first 3 holes with no where to go. Then disappeared. Group in front of us was 2 holes behind by the 10th hole. I'm glad I got the local rate. If I would have paid $130 for a 5 hour 16 hole round I would have been pissed.
Terrible experience. I paid $50 for the round, which you think would be a value, but it wasn't worth it. Course maintenance is sub par and the management was awful. Each hole had at minimum 2 groups, usually 3. We stopped playing after 4 holes and left.
Cant give 5 stars as I only used the practice facility during my visit. Really nice course (from what I saw walking to Range), range was good.
Beautiful golf course with plenty of challenges. Amazing that this course is nestled in the rolling hills near the Golden Gate Bridge.
Challenging course, great value. Generally kept in good shape. No ocean or bridge views but a few holes have picturesque southern-facing views of the city (out towards UCSF Parnassus and Sutro Tower), and the sunsets are always spectacular. While playing the course it's very easy to forget you're in a bustling city!
The player's club is a great deal - $49 monthly gets you $20 rounds, with a beer included, starting 1 hour before twilight.
Challenging, but almost gimmicky course layout which is reasonably well kept. Lots of island greens in a sea of bunkers, with a repetitive theme of hard to hit greens.
Wonderful piece of nature in the city, where you can relax even if you don't play. Golf course is great, almost for any level (esp.if you matter your handicap too much). 2 country clubs (maybe 1 private and the other open to public for sure). Getting there is worth walking through the rest of Presidio.
Best golf course around! Amazing conditions, great driving range and practice facilities, tasty restaurant, and top notch service!
Challenging course and well maintained. Every hole goes up, down or right. Nothing is flat, good exercise for uphill and downhill swing practice. Loose your handicap on each hole if you are unstable.
Great place to be a wedding photographer. The staff were helpful and the sunset was beautiful. The tent for the rain was pristine, warm, and happy. The food was terrific but I'm not sure if the caterer was in house. Lots of great options for spaces to customize for your event.
This is my local spot but it's a great course. Large cypress trees, with great conditions. Everything about this course is well kept. Sign up for the email distro and keep up-to-date on all their events.
They have a medium sized putting green and a smaller sized chipping area. No bunkers to practice on. The driving range has limited space and therefore restricted distance golf balls. The range is on the edge of a hill and you can't see your ball land anywhere from 50-100 yards. That's the only downfall.
