I can't begin to put into words how grateful I am for the life saving treatment I received from the most diligent care team at St. John's. I was hospitalized for 11 days, with the bulk of that stay spent in the ICU. Doctors left no stone unturned trying to figure out why my body was shutting down. They immediately began running all sorts of tests and didn't stop until they figured out the source of my infection. I saw 17 doctors and multiple nurses as my body went into septic shock while fighting off an unknown infection. My family was always kept informed as things progressed and decisions had to be made. While the doctors ran tests and treated me as my body began to shut down, it was the nurses tender care that helped me keep fighting. They all seem so happy to be working there and work so well together. I appreciate how they treated me and kept me informed even when I was non-communicative and on life support. I am alive today because of the skills of my treatment team and am eternally grateful. Best doctors and nurses ever!

Horrible! Non existent staff, poor communication! Almost killed my elderly mother! If it wasn’t for a relative who is a doctor who flew in to be a strong advocate forget it. Sat in the room for 8 hours a nurse showed up once the entire time. Stay away!

Just wanted to say thank you to Mrs. Marcie Hulpa, and her team especially Max, and Ben, who got me in and fixed up in record time, and with great attention to my pain level and severity of my injury. After having now talked to other medical professionals and received a clearer understanding of the fracture and trauma you all remedied, you all's quick thinking and treatment diagnosis were spot on, and made an intolerable situation as good as it could possibly be. Special thanks to my friend at the front desk who kindly helped me fill out the necessary documents to get the treatment rolling. So amazing what we take for granted when you wind up with a broken paw and cant even write your own name. FYI Ended up making it back home, and having the wrist rebuilt that next Friday You all were fantastic, and again thank you!

We had a really positive experience when my husband recently had surgery. Fantastic doctors and nurses, as well as excellent hospital attendants and staff.
Minor issue, very minor but to make the hospital aware, really unpleasant cafeteria staff. When I asked the cashier for a bag for my many food items and was told they were out, I asked how I was supposed to carry so much, I was going back to his room. She said, in a very unpleasant tone, "I don't know, it's not my fault".
When trying to order from the grill, at 11: 10 so during opening hours, the man, quite angrily said, "can't you see all I'm doing by myself here? " I said, I just need to order a sandwich. He said "that's cold. This is the grill, go over there", pointing.
I went where he was pointing. There was a woman putting pizza slices into boxes. I asked to order a sandwich. She looked right at me and continued her pizza activity as if I hadn't spoken.
I was very polite to all three, it was weird! I opted to go out for the remaining days we were there.

Saw Dr. Hak for a knee injury. He wrote me up for a ton of random blood work, didn’t explain any of it to me, and now I’ve been billed $300+ for a vitamin d deficiency test that my insurance doesn’t cover. Wish he had explained what he was having done and had been more transparent about the whole thing- feels like a money grab to me. Very frustrating

Amazing experience here delivering my baby girl, honestly all the labor and delivery/postpartum nurses are the sweetest! Shoutout to Kim, marisol, Nicolette, lupe! (Just to name a few). They made my labor unforgettable. Thank you girls so much!

I cannot say enough great things about our experience with Providence in labor & delivery - the nurses were AMAZING in both L&D and postpartum. I would HIGHLY recommend this place to give birth and will not be going anywhere else!

I took my wife in on Friday night and was rather impressed with the quality of treatment and how she was admitted and the Dr.called her the next day to find out how she was.

I went to pickup a patient and the a boy (adolescent) staff wearing a Green Shirt (demonstrating that he works there) in a vehicle kept demanding that I move my car and once I did he laughed at me
And then he threw me “the bird’”.
I hope no one else has to go there and that it gets shut down, yup close it. With staff like that who needs hospitals!
Just crazy people running that hospital. Learn manners and or Amiable Customer Service tactics.

This hospital should be avoided by everyone, if possible.

I was brought here by ambulance on July 10 after a bicycling accident with injuries including a broken clavicle requiring surgery, possible concussion, rib injuries and increased pain to my preexisting spinal problems. I had cervical spinal surgery some months ago and was bicycling as physical therapy.

I was kept in the hospital for only one night. Most nurses were inattentive and had uncaring attitudes. Most would ignore my call button and call light above my room door. I had to actually call the hospital from my room at least twice because nurses and doctors wouldn't tend to me.

I should have been kept in the hospital longer than I was. After being admitted I was only seen by a so-called doctor once. He didn't even look at me, just a computer screen away from my bed. Didn't examine me, ignored me and would talk over me. He was very uncaring, rude and hurried to leave my room. He was some kind of closet-racist, Arab-type. I'll add his name here soon.

I was badly injured and in extreme pain upon my release, with my clavicle broken in half and nearly piercing through my skin. That doctor said he was prescribing me only motrin, based on inaccurate or outdated information for old prescriptions I had. I didn't have any medication for such pain at that time. I had to argue with a so-called "charge nurse" for like 30 minutes about this, threatening legal action, before I was finally prescribed 15 percocet and those don't do much at all either.

I was never shown any image of my clavicle there and didn't see it until several days later when I went to another ER. That's when I realized how severe it is and that I really need surgery. At St John's they were very dismissive about the injury and only casually mentioned surgery instead of stressing the urgency of getting surgery.

I had surgery on July 29,19 days later, with no help from this hospital, fighting for it on my own. Most people receive surgery within one week for such an injury.

I recommend someone from the hospital contact me. I am still pursuing legal action against the hospital and some staff and the appropriate formal complaints.

Beware if you are African-American and are seeking emergency services at this hospital. I came to the hospital via the Santa Monica Fire Department. My tongue was extremely swollen and I was suffering and had problems breathing. Instead of putting me into an Emergency Department bay I was examined by a physician in the middle of the lobby along with others our personal medical information to be heard by others a direct HIPAA violation. Then it took them 3.5 hours to assign me an emergency bay. I was the only African American and my paramedic firefighters knew exactly what was happening and they apologized to me for having to wait so long. Finally I am fully insured. I tried calling the patient relations office 5 times during business hours but they never answered the phone and the voicemail was always full.

This hospital to come to if you would like to die. The staff is uncaring and rude. They will be discriminatory, humiliating, disrespectful, unkind, and mean. I was there for almost 11 hours. It wasn’t until about 9 1/2 hours that they even asked me if I wanted water. They took about 5 hours just to check me in although the place was almost empty, but the staff is confused, discombobulated and disorganized. I brought documents in when I first got there from my primary care physician. They didn’t even have those documents three times I had to provide them the same thing. Would never recommend this hospital. It was one of the most humiliating exhausting. Awful waste of time experiences of my life at any kind of medical establishment. I had to come here a couple years ago for a friend of mine. I also noticed a whole order of lack of knowledge and professionalism behavior, then. I didn’t know that this was a common thread. There for 10 hours not one doctor came to care for me. It was all nurse practitioners. Also, I hope you do not have any breathing or respiratory problems as this hospital does not honor ADA medical exemptions. NIGHTMARE

Are you kidding me!? Karen in the Lab has the best phlebotomy skills I’ve ever experienced. Had no idea the needle went in and before I knew it she was done. A true professional. I will be sending all my people to St. John’s to see her.

I went to the 2020 Santa Monica Blvd, Health Center for a mastectomy recently and it was the best care I’ve ever gotten at any hospital. From the entry room nurse to the pre-op nurse and the anesthesiologist I couldn’t have been in any better hands. They were kind and genuinely caring and did not treat me like a number as some hospital do. For a very difficult procedure they made me comfortable and helps me through every step of the way. My doctor, Dr. Funk is one of the most outstanding breast surgeons that I met on my journey and my mastectomy went even better than planned due to her dietary, supplement and limited estrogen suggestions. I highly recommend this hospital and everybody who works there and made by journey so much easier and my outcome so great!

I went to ER, I had a ct scan with contrast /dye, and was NOT told to not take my metformin for 48 hours …I asked the nurse in ER (John) he didn’t know … if they were not going to admit me, why did they hey do it …? I have to o go home now and NO meds for 2 days … if they would have admitted me at least they would’ve given me insulin… I just don’t understand the way they work… I thought more of this than place … very disappointed

I delivered my Daughter on 7/26/22 & I want to say the labor & delivery/postpartum staff was EVERYTHING! They’re so sweet and attentive! I am so grateful for each and everyone I had a reaction with!

Only negative was the housekeeping.

I asked for housekeeping to come clean up the restroom and empty all trash cans, it took them 24hrs to finally come & at that point, I was pretty much getting discharged.

Other then that. I had a great experience. Rooms are big and beautiful also!
