Purl Apartments at Civita reviews
17The apartment complex is awesome! The area is delightful, and the staff in the office are incredibly kind and accommodating.
Having lived at Purl for nearly 2 years now I decided it's time to leave a 5-star review. Not only is Purl by far one the nicest apartment complexes not just in San Diego but that I've ever been to in general.and more so, the whole Civita community is AMAZING!
Yes, there are issues here and in the beginning I was annoyed here and there, but after having been to many other complexes and gained some perspective I will say that there are issues anywhere and in most other places they are way, way worse. At least here at Purl (and the neighboring building's leasing offices) the staff is incredibly nice and actually cares about its residents and the issues, and also as has been mentioned by others, the maintenance service is absolutely top. Super nice, fast and fixing anything you ask.
You have access to a TON of amenities, multiple lounges and rooftops, 5 or so pools and hot tubs, sauna, 2 gyms, and the nicest park right in front of your door. I've come to really love living here and can't recommend Purl and the whole Civita community enough!
Civita/Purl is hands down the best apartments in Mission Valley. I've lived in several other communities but none of them compare to Purl. Not only is the entire complex stunning but all of the amazing people in the leasing office, special shout out to Genevieve & Amanda, are always so nice, helpful and responsive. Narciso and the maintenance crew there are the best in the biz. I lived in Civita for close to ten years and only left because my family and I moved to Colorado but 10 out of 10 recommend Purl to anyone in San Diego. Go upgrade your living situation ASAP!
As I type this, this is my second night of no sleep out of the many I've encountered this past year. My rent is about $4,000 a month. For something being considered “luxury, ” you would think they would be made out of concrete or have an extra layer to keep sound out. The walls are so paper-thin you can literally hear your upstairs neighbors speaking as if they are in your own bedroom. My neighbors have also decided to hammer and drill, I'm not sure what, from the hours of 6-8 am many mornings today being another one. As you could imagine, this has been beyond frustrating and exhausting. I reached out to the leasing office about this, and clearly, nothing was done. I’m extremely tired and cannot wait to be out of here this month.
Very Happy to be living at Purl and thank goodness Nicole is working here, hands down the most helpful and pleasant person to work with.
Purl is such a beautiful property with lots of cool amenities! Nicole was the main reason I signed the lease and she was so knowledgeable and helpful she made the whole process so seamless. I’m excited to live here!
This review goes out to the Maintenance guys (and girls, if any) that I’ve encountered here at Purl. Their service is absolutely top-tier and I just adore all of them. I’ve had some unfortunate/weird cases and they’ve made every “issue” so seamless and easy for me. I appreciate all that you do!
Everyone in the leasing office is amazing too. Thank you!
We recently moved to Purl and this has been the best decision for our family. We love the community and all the amenities. Nicole from the leasing staff is knowledgeable and very responsive. Thank you Brandon and Nicole!
I just moved into the Purl and I look forward to my time here with all of the amenities (sauna, game room, gym, etc.) and the Civita neighborhood. From the beginning, Nicole made the entire process a breeze and truly set The Purl apart. She was not only professional but also approachable, making me feel comfortable asking any questions I had about the apartment and the rental/move-in process. Her honesty and transparency made me feel like a valued tenant already. Moving can be stressful, but it was entirely seamless. I can honestly say that I don't wish to move anytime soon, but if I do, I would want to work with her again.
We did a tour for this property a while back. We were looking for a 1 bd and were offered a listing that was $3400 for ~800 sq ft. We decided to move forward with filing an application, which was $55 per person. The next day, we were told the unit wasn’t actually available, but the property management group was insistent on obtaining additional banking info from us despite there being no unit attached to our application. We asked if we could schedule another viewing appointment and the request was ignored. We asked *3 times* to get our application fees refunded since it’s illegal in California to charge application fees without an available unit and we were again ignored. Considering this messy application process, as well as the other reviews about car break-ins, I’m relieved we ended up somewhere else.
Nicole in the leasing office has been incredible to work with. She has made this process so easy. We highly recommend working with her.
We just received the keys to our apartment and are excited to join the Civita community.
Nicole was AMAZING! Helped us go through the application and gave us a tour of the apartments we asked for. Was super friendly and welcoming as well. Definitely would recommend working with her:)
3 year review:
1. Ants are still everywhere after 3 years. There is no abatement externally. Landscaping doesn't keep the vegetation off of the buildings, so ants will crawl right in your windows (and everywhere else).
2. My rent increased 10%, 2 years in a row. Pet fees, water, trash.throw another hundred on top of rent and another 150+ for electricity. Oh, and they charge you $. 95 every month just to pay your rent! Yes, this is directly from your checking account too!
3. I went 3 months without proper hot water with no type of compensation. The affected 1/4 of building B.
4. The parking garage gate has been broken about 4 months? This means anyone can walk/drive into the garage and then enter the building, stairwells, the common areas, and get all the way to your door. There has been no security presence at the gate to prevent this.
5. Speaking of security, there is none. After 6 PM, you have to call "courtesy patrol". Many times, you can't even get through. It is a service, and they don't usually know how to spell "P U R L". You actually have to give them the street address of the building! Then, a person may or may not show up - and it could be up to an hour later.
6. This place is dirty. Inside the hallways, the stairwells, externally everywhere. You have to hold your breath every time you enter the building. Dogs pee everywhere. The cleaning folks are outmatched by our residents.
7. Rules are often broken by residents with no repercussions.
8. Homeless have been sneaking in and even sleeping in the stairwells. Last week someone was passed out in the clubhouse on the floor.
9. People at the pool and clubhouse can be extremely noisy and out of hand some days (kids included). No one is going to do anything about it.
10. If you make a friend here, they will be gone in a year. Almost everyone leaves when they get the 10% increase year-over-year.
The good:
1. It is newer.
2. Civita park and area is great.
Was greeted by Brandon and he was super helpful! Gave us a great tour and he was able to answer all of our questions! Outstanding service!
I `m delighted to provide positive feedback about the leasing center professional Riqa. The experience was truly exceptional, and I would like to highlight a few key aspects of her outstanding work: excellent communication, knowledgeable and informative, courteous and respectful. She was articulate, friendly, and attentive. This level of professionalism undoubtedly left a positive impression. Riqa actively listened to my needs and preferences and responded with genuine consideration.
Riqa's customer-centric approach made the experience memorable and enjoyable for me. Thank you
Great place to live. State of art amenities and pools. Even have sauna and a game room with a golf simulator.
The apartment complex is nice, but the neighbors and the management are definitely not worth the high cost. Attractive amenities and cool activities, but it doesn’t matter if you don't enjoy living in your own home.
