We called and asked if they will allow us a dine in if we reach at 9.30. They said yes. However, the waitress was in some rush as the kitchen was about to close. We asked for extra plates which needed to be called out again while patiently waiting for the plates. Eventually, she bought the plates to us but in her rush, left it loudly on the table. She later apologised to us that she was in rush and forgot to get the plates in first place. We usually support businesses and tip them very well but this time, we did not take it. We were extremely hungry after a 15 mile long hike and did not get what we were looking for. Even if you are in rush, please do not forget that you agreed to serve your customers. Not coming back!

You guys have a lot to do to be competent in the vicinity.
At least we Ethiopians know the standards of our food. All foods we ate from the restaurant are below the standards.
Misir wot was not misir wot. Shiro wot was not shiro wot.
Teff injera was not actual teff injera.
You should step up and do a better job, better food. Listen people’s suggestions.

Fantastic unique vegetarian food in an atmosphere with an acquired taste.

Having never experienced an Ethiopian restaurant, I did not know what to expect when I walked past the door.

We were immediately seated and menus were distributed. Definitely keep your phone on you to search up any unknown ingredients, if this is your first time.

We ordered a feast for two, which came with a delicious appetizer (I think it was a lentil sambusa), followed by a medley of lentils, squash, cabbage, and other foods patterned atop a flatbread (what I think was injera). More of the bread was provided in a side basket to be used as a utensil and we were off. Pinching and scraping is the preferred medium of transport here from plate to mouth. Olive Garden's unlimited breadsticks were no match to the sheer quantity of bread we were given.

Finishing off the feast was the thickest (respectfully) freshly squeezed mango juice I had ever encountered and we were finished. Enlightened, we were finally able to appreciate the unknown music on repeat from a nearby TV and the weird carpet under our shoes.

Great place, would come again.

We were 4 Ethiopians visiting LA when we had the chance to visit the restaurant. It was a fasting time for Ethiopian (don't eat any animal products for the date). So we decided to go to Rahel Ethiopian Vegan Cuisine to get our lunch.
When we arrive there, there were few people in the restaurant in the middle of the day. We were so surprised as it is not so common. We started to ask among ourselves why that was the case?

Anyways, we took our seats, and we ordered our favorite Ethiopian food (combination of different dishes from the menu).

In short everything is disappointing. The food is not tasty, and not fresh at all. Some of the sauces were over cooked and completely lost their taste. Even the injera is not made from teff, but they claimed they are serving teff injera (gluten free injera). Even we ordered coffee, and it was tasteless too. In short there is no reason to got to this restaurant again. The only positive thing is that the restaurant is clean and has nice look.
Sorry Rahel, it is not our will recommend this restaurant at all.

We are vegan and GF, so this place was perfect for us! Service was great and fast. Food was very affordable. We got the vegan feast for 2 and only had to make one substitute since the sambusa is not GF. So we added the chickpea stew to our plate, and everything was amazing! It was also very filling but did not feel heavy. Would definitely return and recommend this restaurant.

Half the reason I come out to LACMA is to get Ethiopian before or after. Had the Hudade combo on this visit and it was a delight.

Amazing food each time! I got the vegetarian combo, gluten free teff injera (x3), a flax drink, and mango cake. Injera is a comfort food for me, and the different veggie wot and stewed vegetables were so deliciously seasoned. I love this spot!

Large phone take out order, Rahel was very friendly and helped pick the best dishes for our group. Large portion sizes and food was great.

I had a beautiful experience visiting little ethiopia and Rahel’s Vegan was a cherry on top fr. Gluten free injera was readily available. Hospitality & ambiance was great, Rahel even gave us a little back story letting us know her restaurant has been Vegan since she opened! & its been a min…Now thats making history!

Flavor was off and they didn't provide enough of the main protein source and so much of the rest which was non filling. I ordered a vegetarian combo. Never going back.

If you like delicious healthy food, Rahel cannot be missed! I've been coming here for 8 years and the quality has remained consistently high. The food is always amazingly tasty and lovingly prepared. The restaurant employees are kind and attentive. I always look forward to my visits here. Make sure to get a platter to share, so you can try everything!

Delicious vegan Ethiopian food! Ordered the Feast for 2, which comes with 11 sides. The meal was delicious and the staff was warm and friendly
