Where do I begin with how outstanding the staff and service was here? Here are some examples:
1. We landed at SFO at 8am and they let us check in at 9am on NYE weekend
2. We thought we had booked a room with two beds, but it only had one. They switched us with absolutely zero hassle or upcharge
3. We had a friend coming in early on the second day of our stay, the front desk staff set aside a room key for him and made sure he was taken care of while we slept in
4. Yohanes was working on New Year’s Eve and we had a strange incident happen that he completely handled and provided us with the absolute best service with

Not the fanciest hotel, but location was great - one block from BART station - 8 minute walk to the Fox - tons of great food options around.

The rooms are always good and very clean. The ones I always get are kinda small, but the price is right for a single bed. The desk clerks are always helpful. The location is ideal; just a block and a half away from City Center and 12th Street BART. I always stay there when on town.

Yohannes was a great front desk agent. I came to stay for a 1 nighter due to a family member passing. He was busy, but checked me in quickly and was able to help others. My next trip back i will be staying here because of Yohannas great help!

The room smelled like smoke and had old ashes around the bed. The front desk were no help with getting room
Serviced or fixing the tv. The tv didn’t work the whole 4 night stay and they had no sense of urge to resolve the issue. I used their parking lot and my sunroof was smashed and car broken into.

This is not the classiest or nicest hotel, but i cannot say enough great things about the staff and manager here.just watch out for the crazies.

This place is clean, the staff is friendly, and the value for the price is great. I didn't have a car, so I can't speak on the parking situation. Other than that everything was good. It's about 2 or 3 blocks from a subway station, so getting to and from the airport was a breeze. The area around the hotel isn't the worst. It could be better, but at no point did I feel scared to venture out and explore the area. The front desk staff were friendly and helpful. I ended up leaving a few items behind, and they called me to let me know that I left them. I would stay here again the next time I visit the area.

This place has been the worst experience I’ve had at a hotel. We had booked for 3 nights and everything had seemed fine until I checked my charges on my bank app. The total of the 3 nights was $251 but I was charged 245 two times and 351 once. The next morning I went downstairs to ask why I got charged, the lady said the person charged me 3 times for one night. She said that she would refund me my money for all the other nights I wasn’t charged extra. Later that day I check again and I got charged another 251 so I go back up there and the current person there couldn’t even explain to me what was happening and had no clue and just made something up as if I wasn’t getting charged extra. I had to freeze my account because I was getting charges from the hotel outta nowhere, by the time I left the hotel I had 5 pending chargers with a total amount of 1200+ dollars. I talked to the same lady and she told me she would fix it and they never did fix anything. I am now currently filing disputes with my bank for all these unauthorized charges!

Literally the worst hotel I've ever stayed in! Screeching alarms outside the window 24/7. One-inch gap below the door to the hallway. Smells like cigarettes constantly from people outside; can't seal the window. Tiny awkward room. Rust-stained shower. Toilet runs constantly. Get me out of here!

Giving it a five because I’m a solo traveller who visits Oakland almost every week, and this is just a great and comfortable space to stay the night, as a treat to myself, since I’m only looking for a place with a bed, bathroom and basic good TV channels.

Never disappointed. Staff is good. There is a deposit, but it’s not a problem.

No hot water and dirty.
Clumps of someone else's hair on the bathroom floor, brown streak on the office chair, etc.

Horrible. The ‘window’ looked into a utility closet; the room was very small (almost claustrophobic) ; the tv didn’t really work; and, the included breakfast was pathetic - so few choices. The air was stale and it was difficult to operate the a/c because of where it was placed. I am not able to recommend this hotel.

Horrible experience. My room was supposed to be 87 dollars for one night. The day after i checked out I checked my bank account and the final amount charged was 137 dollars. 50 dollars more then it was supposed to be. So i called the front desk and asked to get the 50 dollars refunded to me. She said i would get a refund in 3 to 5 business days. So the next day I checked my account and there was another charge on my card for 87 dollars in addition to the 137 dollars i was charged and no refund. The front desk lady charged my card again without authorization and now ive been charged 224 dollars for an 87 dollar room. I called back and she said give it 5 days for my refund. So i waited patiently fo 5 days and no refund ever came. So i called back and she said there was never a refund issued. So i asked to speak to the manager and i sent her an email with photos of my bank account showing the charges. She said she would look into it and call me back. So i waited patiently again and she never called me back. So i tried calling again and the front desk lady was ignoring my calls and the manager was not answering her phone. So now im still sitting here with the 224 dollars taken from my account for an 87 dollar room. I have bills to pay and i need my money.

This hotel has recently been sold to Wyndham, and is operated by an independent subsidiary.

The Good: My room was small, but looked nice, was clean, and had a small coffee maker and refrigerator. Shampoo, conditioner, body wash, lotion, and a hairdryer are all provided. The air conditioner blew cold air and was adjustable down to 61°. All staff I encountered were nice, professional, and helpful - except for one guy who was fairly aloof.

The Meh: Rooms are not soundproof. I could hear conversations in the room next door - consequently, I left the air on and the fan on all night. The air conditioner is fairly loud, though not a problem for me at all. I appreciated the noise since it cancelled other noises inside and outside the hotel. Though this hotel advertised "hot breakfast" (the main reason I went here), it didn't have any kind of breakfast potatoes, and the pancake/waffle maker was disengaged. The "hot" part is egg patty and sausage patties and oatmeal. There are bagels & bread, so one could make a breakfast sandwich.

The Bad: There is no market inside the hotel. There is a cooler where you could buy juice, cold Starbucks, & soda. There are two stores nearby that advertise "market". Beware. The closest store right around the corner is a magnet for illegal activity & homelessness. The other market is ok-ish, I was told by staff. Personally I wouldn't go to either at night and one I wouldn't go to ever. If this hotel had another vending machine that offered sandwiches, cup of noodles, or incidentals, that would be great. There is a good kabob place right next door, and actually attached via door in hallway, fyi.

Overall, for my stay, I would go here again since the price was reasonable ($90ish or less) for the weekdays. If I had to pay the $189 price for a weekend night, I would have been disappointed with what was offered at that amount.

Update: I did stay here a second time. Again the staff was pleasant and professional. My room this time was smaller than my first visit and did not have a microwave or a mini fridge. I would say the bed is the size of a double or small queen (not a standard queen). The room was clean and attractive. Just know what room options you'd like (amenities) before booking.
The breakfast this second time was different too. There were delicious hot waffles, but no egg or sausage patties. There was a microwaveable breakfast burrito you could cook near the breakfast area.

Not worth the stress
1. No parking on street no security in their parking lot but charges $25 (car broken into) didn’t help
2. Room are clean (house keeping steals and throws belongings in garage they will not replace anything or care
3. Front desk can’t do nothing for you just calls manager who doesn’t help or looks after their employees
4. Deposit are return fast only good thing & the males front desk try they hardest

They will also charge you for anything
When checking in a customer was charge cleaning fee for luggage carrier that I watch one use before him and someone after him and nothing was wrong with it (new management is horrible)

The room was disgusting, it felt like I had bugs crawling on me in the bed, there was leftover food from the old occupants, there was stuff all over the floors in the corner of the bathroom.
