Ramen Champ reviews
15 This used to be a mom and pop bento spot for several decades, RC has kept the tradition alive, albeit with ramen. The ambience is still hole in the wall, but tastefully so. Not a good spot for large parties. Service when I went for lunch on a weekday was polite, attentive and just the right amount of friendly. There was no wait.
I've been doing a tour of all the south bay ramen spots, always going for lunch. I usually go for the classic tonkotsu or miso ramen. This place isn't called the champ for nothing. They win in my book.
They have local canned beer, I went with an IPA and ordered the miso ramen. The noodles were thick, fresh, and paired very nicely with the rich broth that still maintained a lightness that made eating so easy. The real star was the pork, it was melt in your mouth tender, juicy and full of flavor. The veggies polished off the Umami, overall the best experience I've had during this campaign. Can't wait to go back and try the rest of the menu!
Highly recommended for ramen fans, especially if you prefer pork based broths and appreciate good meat balanced out with great noods and extras.
Out of all ramens, I liked the soyu. The broths of the other ramens seemed too salty to eat. This place does get busy so you will have to wait an hour or more.
If you’re looking for tasty ramen in San Jose then this place is for you. This is our go to place when we are craving for ramen. Their miso and tonkotsu ramen are my favorites. Their eggs are done just right. But our family’s favorite is their karage chicken.
Ordered takeout and only received bowl of sticky noodles with cold but cooked vegetables. Dine-in wouldn’t have had this problem, I know, but really disappointing take-out.
Very good ramen in this area! Especially with pork belly (buta ramen) so delicious!
Their Tonkatsu also very crispy & juicy!
Ramen is great. Aluminium chair is so cold, cannot sit more than 10 seconds. Glad I had sheep skins in my car.
Without question the best ramen joint i’ve ever been to. We probably go twice a month at least. P The pork melts in your mouth and the flavors overwhelm in the best way possible. Can’t get enough!
Make sure to check the hours before you go. They open for lunch, then close and open again for dinner. Often there’s a line of people waiting to get in—-because it’s that good.
Do yourself a favor and get your ramen fix at Ramen Champ. You won’t be disappointed.
This place is awesome. Only thing is the eggs could be marinated longer but the broth and curry are fantastic. Closest thing to being back in Japan.
Great jiro style ramen. Plenty of garlic and veggies. Nice thick noodles that stand up to the broth and get better as you go.
This is a hidden gem heck of a place for Ramen, if not the best place in the South Bay. Too underrated. Everything is so good, but the Buta Max, my goodness, is THE BEST!
Tried Yuzu Shio Ramen, surprisingly very delicate taste of the Yuzu in the stock. A delightful experience.
One of the best ramen restaurants in San jose! Their service is very friendly and they speak both English and Japanese in a friendly way! Their tonkatsu is not too sweet and very flavorful! I do wish they make their own noodles though or maybe its a premium add-on. Their pork is very tender and isn't too fatty! They're very careful in how they plate your dish with the position of the seaweed and pork and garlic (which there is alot of and more!).
Overall this was a pretty great place to get some ramen if you're in the mood for it!
Terrible last experience. So bummed about writing this review, but ordered at 5: 00 online, earliest pick up was 5: 30, so got in at 5: 30 and order wasn’t even started or it appeared that way. Had to ask again around 5: 35 pm but just said that the order was for 5: 30 pm. No apology. Not sure I’ll Come back as extremely disappointed.
Ramen flavor 5 star, but noodle is a bit too hard take a bit effort to chew. Otherwise could have been 5 stars. Staff is very friendly, and I will come back for sure.
They were famous for Nironki ramen, which is a style of ramen served with a lot of sprouts and cabbage. The chicken karaage was delicious, and the braised pork was also pretty tasty. However, we weren’t big fans of the soup because the flavor was slightly bland, and we could only tasty soy sauce.
