Ramen Dojo reviews
7The things I miss the most about living in San Mateo is the Ramen and T-Pumps. I've never eaten so much high quality ramen in one place. Ramen Dojo is definitely worth multiple visits. This place gets crowded fast so come early.
We like a lot eating out. Last night we came to this superb place which friends told us about. We had a lovely experience there with delicious food and a courteous team and a talented chief cook. We put this restaurant in our list and we shall definitely return very soon. Highly recommended.
This is a great place and I would give it a 5 star except for the wait.there is a good breadth of menu and the service, once seated is fast. The pork portions are very large and the several varieties of soup I have tried fills me up and makes me happy. Well run and very clean.
There was a lot of hype around Ramen Dojo, so I had very high expectations coming into the restaurant. I came on a weekend around 12: 45pm and there was about 10 parties ahead of me. The restaurant only fits about 36 people, but I though the line would be quick since I came by myself; I was wrong. I waited close to 45 minutes until I was seated. But once I was seated, the service was quick and efficient to take my order and bring in my bowl of fresh, steamy ramen. I ordered the spicy garlic pork broth ramen with pork belly. Oh my goodness, this ramen was incredible! The broth was just a tad rich and creamy, and there were two garlic cloves that added amazing flavor to the broth. The pork belly was easily the best I've ever had. It was so tender and juicy that I had to hold myself back from eating it all in one bite. The noodles were also delicious, although I prefer the noodle to be a little chewier. They also add quail egg which is a perfect touch to a fantastic bowl of ramen. Ramen Dojo does indeed live up to the hype, and it's no wonder it's one of the best ramen restaurants in the Bay Area.
The servers here are really kind - they sat us even though we arrived close to when they were closing, and let us finish without kicking us out. The ramen was just okay, though - it satisfied the craving for ramen, but I wouldn't go out of my way to go to this place in particular (or wait in a long line for it).
Very typical Ramen place reminiscent of what you might see in Japan. Small space, so expect a wait during normal dinner times. They are very efficient about turning the tables around and it’s definitely worth the wait. They now have Tsukemen (dipping ramen) which is an excellent addition and a good option if you like spicy broths. Lots of options for toppings as well. Definitely one of the best ramen spots in the area
