Rancho Los Alamitos Historic Ranch and Gardens reviews
12 My husband, my 5yo and I attended the Christmas tour. It was wonderful. My husband’s grand ma is nearly 100yo and it was so beautiful to see a house at Christmas decorated in the same way that when she was born.
The entire experience was lovely, we were told so many great info on the house, the time, and how Christmas was celebrated back then. We felt welcomed and we were able to ask all the questions we had. It was truly magical and we loved the hot cocoa and delicious biscuit at the end. Thank you!
This was our second visit, and we've already decided we want to return again in the summer after learning that there are subtle updates that occur over the year, like a changing of the table settings and food. The people are wonderful, and our docent/guide had an encyclopedic memory, I honestly was amazed; someone in the tour group literally pointed at something and asked, "do you know what that (furniture) piece is? ", and without skipping a beat she listed the piece's origin and the story of how the family acquired it, it was awesome. I honestly would just love to go back through and keep asking more questions, it's such an interesting preservation, creating a virtual snapshot of life in the time. The garden is very impressive, both it and the house are well worth the visit.
I loved this place! What a great peaceful piece of property in the city. The baby goats stole show.
All the staff was so friendly and very kind. They made us so welcome. Our Guide was very knowledgeable. I learned a lot. Thanks for being there. I can go on and on, but I can't. Thanks for a bless day at the Ranch.
We loved our visit to Rancho los Alamitos! Lovely, peaceful gardens to roam through, cute farm animals, and a well-preserved home that provides a glimpse into SoCal history. All of the volunteers/workers we encountered were also incredibly nice and friendly. This place is a hidden gem!
Beautiful, clean and friendly place.
The entrance looks like a Private residency ask the person at the entrance you are going to the museum. It’s free and parking is also free. Great experience
I enjoyed the tour and my favorite things around the grounds were the house, the fig trees, and farm animals featuring Preston the shire horse.
A beautiful place. 7.5 acres for short walking and relaxing in nature. Must visit place in Long Beach area.
Absolutely amazing finding this in the middle of surrounding homes. The historic preservation is fantastic. Educational and took me back to my childhood.
Well apparently I was there on the day that it was closed but the pieces that I did see were really gorgeous!
This is a wonderful oasis in the midst of the urban sprawl.
All of the docents are super friendly.
If you've never been, you're in for a treat.
They even have a nice little gift shop with plenty of locally made wares.
I Love the grounds! The gardens are amazing. Sad that the museum and Rose Garden are closed due to Covid19. I simply cannot wait until it is fully open so that I can return.
