Rasraj San Diego

First time at Rasraj, and first time trying what I learned are some popular Indian street foods (pani puri, sev dahi puri, tikki chat, etc.). Everything was delicious! Can't wait to go back.

I've been there several times. Some dishes were good, some are not so much. Average experience overall.

Tried sevpuri, unfortunately it didn’t meet any Indian standard taste. Even Idli was hard as if they were reheated and served. Overall not a good experience.

One of the worst experiences I ever had so far. Generally, I don’t care about ambience as long as the staff is welcoming, and quality of food is good with reasonable price.
Yesterday I went there with my family. Since we were very hungry we over-ordered thinking will take some to-go.

1. First of totally unwelcoming staff as specially the lady taking order.
2. Bhel- it was stale, overpriced. I asked for replacement and I got such an awful gesture. Ultimately they replaced the Bhel.
3. Paneer Sizler - I think they don’t know what is sizler. I felt that they simply prepared sizler on kadhai and get it on the that cast iron plate to look like sizler. They gave sizler with cabbag. It was runny and taste totally less than mediocre.
4. Pawbhaji - did not taste like pawbhaji. It tasted like it was some mix sabzi prepared with garam masala. Taste less than mediocre.
5. Undhiyu-puri - puri was not real puri. It was a deep fried tortilla. It smelled bad and tasted little bitter. Undhiyu was just very average.
6. Hakka noodle - little okay.

While I would have not cared about this taste had we were treated properly. As I mentioned in the beginning it was totally unwelcoming and unfriendly gesture. Anyway we were visiting San Diego. So we will not step here again. I guess their main customers base is visitors. Hence, they don’t care because they know that those visitors won’t come again.

Stay away from this restaurant. Nice alternative is “San Idli”.

I miss pani puri and Chaat and was excited to try this place but was very disappointed in the food.

Clean place, fast Indian food, good selection, also sell sweets. They have north and south Indian food.
Workers are too busy talking to each other rather than aying attention to customers while they eat. To see if customer needs anything else. Just stopping after the food served and asking if everything ok. Now that's the old style. Ask customers why did they order particular fish, once customer taste the food. Don't just say is everything ok. Ask customer what is their opinion on the dish, let the customer talk more than try to run away from the customer.

Service is poor and food is stale. Its only saving grace is its proximity to the Indian supermarket. Avoid if you can. Not worth it.

The food is okay, but I’ve had a horrible experience with a lost item. Their response is extremely unprofessional and even a little suspicious. I was at the restaurant 2 weeks ago and left my handbag behind when I left the restaurant. When I realized that and went back to look for it in 30 minutes or so, it was gone. The employees said nobody had reported any lost & found handbag to them. Since then, I’ve been requesting them to check the cctv footage for any information they can provide, and they’ve been giving me the run around. I’ve made multiple calls and visits, and every time they say “the manager isn’t here, we’ll give you a call as soon as he’s here “. I can’t believe the manager hasn’t been there in 2 weeks (sarcasm)! And now, whoever stole my handbag is trying to misuse my cards.

Any kind of sweets is a big big no from here. I can assure you it’s never fresh. I complained once about the sweets were bad and they insisted that this is how it tastes. (Well then they make sweets with foul taste)
So unless you are okay eating spoiled sweets don’t even go to this place
NEVER take any Bengali or milk sweets from here

Chaat is good. Other dishes are okayish.

Good place to eat for vegetarian food. But, there were little to no Jain food options in the menu. Rasraj should also try to add Jain food options in the menu. And it would bring a lot of Jain food preferred customers, too.

Not worth going at all really poorly made food. We ordered chaat, it was the worst chaat we have eaten. The girl at the counter had no interest what so ever overall really bad experience.

Good Food. I like the Manchurian Sizzler there and it is consistently good. Mirchi Bajji was tasty as well.

American Chinese influenced Indian cuisine. It was a bit pricey, but the food was served fresh and hot!
I got the sizzler, which has cauliflower, noodles, and rice with sauted onions and green peppers
Paid over $15.00 for 1 dish

I liked this place, but its a hit or miss depending on the mood of the person behind the counter. I am foreign to indian cuisine, if im new to your food and restaurant and ask whats good guide me. Dont just point at the menu and tell me to pick something there. I want to return, but a neighboring restaurant was more welcoming and helped me decide what to eat from their menu. You lost a customer.

Bhel puri was watery. Pav bhaji was too sour. Very little masala was added. Taste was awful. Very expensive for the quality of the food you get here. Rasraj is not how it was few years back.

Their service changed, the people are rude, they increase the price on you behind your back and add additional charges. The old lady at the counter is incredibly rude and disrespectful.food is pretty good but service is BEYOND HORRIBLE. Hope the owner does something about it

Very nice place with delicious food. We visit very frequently here to enjoy favorite snacks.

Average taste, food quality has tremendously gone down! Certain chats are good but very poor quality.
