Ray's Crab Shack reviews
15We have 3 kiddos and had a great time here. The food was plentiful, delicious, and more than worth the price.
Delicious! This was my first time at any sort of crab-shack-feed style restaurant, and i'd say it was a good choice.my only complaint was that the shrimp was not peeled, which was inconvenient.not sure if that's a ray's thing or an everywhere thing, though.service was great, helped me pack up leftovers, and it made for a delicious dinner the next day too!
The Cajun flavor is seriously wrong, it’s very thick and kinda sweet; I think that the way they boil the crawfish is also wrong, making the shells extremely difficult to peel off and the meat itself is insipid; The clams are not clean, I can feel sands and see some unknown dark stuff in most of them. I’m very disappointed at the food quality. But don’t get me wrong, I kind of like the service there.
We came back to Ray’s after over 10 years of trying different crab shacks. After years, Ray’s still has the best quality of seafood, the best service and the best ambient. I am glad that they raised the price instead of sacrificing the quality of their food.
Limited menu, my roll was burnt so my sandwich was a disappointment. Service was good because they didn't have that many people for lunch.
Make sure you order the "Ray's combination bag", their mussels and clams are so big and juicy, the corns, and the shrimps, everything is on point.
Their Cajun sauce, with extra garlic, yummy!
What's more interesting is the water tanks with live lobster, you get a photo on the wall if you order one
I ordered the Lobater roll and it was very good! My wife ordered the Seafood salad, and she was disappointed. I took a bite, and I agree. There's sing wasn't very good. Cajun fries were OK. Just shoestring fries with seasoning. My friend had the same fries, and there was a big difference in the seasoning.
The table had a Q barcode to scan for the menu, but it never worked for me, and I had to ask for a regular menu. My wife got it to work, but you ha e to sign in an account. It's just too much hassle.
Food and service at Ray's is one of the best in the Bay Area.
You can get the combo seafood boil for two-three people and it won't hurt your wallet. The shrimp, crawfish, mussels, and clams were cooked perfectly.
The service was outstanding. We had Sam as our server and she went above and beyond.
Fun seafood experience!
I visited Ray's crab shack with my family and was woooooorth it!
Food - 5/5
Portion, flavor, and variety! I loved their Cajun seafood - crabs and shrimps. Huge shrimps and full crabs are there.
Service - 5/5
Good staff and crew. They're attentive to our needs and food is served as per our expectation.
Atmosphere - 4/5
The restaurant is a bit old already. Clean place, but old vibe.
So I went for a birthday party and I ordered a pound of shrimp with mixed sauce medium my first bite the shrimp was uncooked I called waiter over and let him know he apologized and took it bk when they brought it back it was just barely cooked but I figured it would be ok
. Boy I was wrong I spent the entire night and next morning in the bathroom I even had to miss work so that sucked but that sauce was perfection a little while later o went back and told them to cook my shrimp longer and it was perfect that lemon pepper sauce was the best
Delicious, and the Tension is excellent, it is a place to spend with family or as a couple, the place is very quiet.
Fantastic Cajun seafood place, been coming here now and then for over 8 years.
Tastes fantastic, fresh seafood, great value, never had a problem with the service nor the food.
Very nice to see their price not inflated too much, you can still get the combo or shrimp bag for around $20-40, which can usually feed 2-3.
Recommend Cajun garlic sauce, sides such as clam chowder, which is better than Boudin's, sweet potato fries, extra sausage & garlic noodles. Everything is on the salty side tho.
Totally, 100%, absolutely recommend.
Food is just excellent all the way around. My husband and I truck drivers and have eaten at several crab shacks and this one tops them all. If you're ever in Newark California check out Ray's Crab Shack you will not be disappointed
The bag with the sea food was delicious, but not enough salt and we all wish that shrimps would be deveined
As a construction inspector, I travel all over the bay area daily, and have the opportunity to try chicken wings from the innumerable lunch trucks and various local and chain restaurants.
These wings are on par with an average $5 food truck offering with regards to size and flavor. But you get a lot of french fries.
The fries are soggy after a few minutes.
The sauces are pretty good.
