RED O Taste of Mexico reviews
23I came with my wife not knowing what to expect and waited for my wife at a small table since we drove separately. The bar area for appetizers is great. The bar is well lit, the bartenders are super attentive and the waitresses are nice as can be. We received excellent service here. I ordered a quesadilla with chicken and a mule which were both tasty. The quesadilla was good but there wasnt enough chicken in it to taste. I would definitely come back here again.
Fancy restaurant. Too pricey for a slow service. I have eaten better Mex food elsewhere. Happy hour prices are only at the bar
There for a large function dinner. Food was average and margs were weak. It may have been the occasion, but I prefer hole in the wall places. Better food and not so much a "place to be seen" like Red O
Small portion, over cooked on some (fried veggies were burnt on my colleagues plate) and over priced for its value.
My wife and I really enjoyed it here! The food was fresh and well plated. The ambiance was just right as well, you really got a "new wave" feel from it, even though they had old classics. I got the Chile rellenos, which included lobster and shrimp in the sauce, which was a delightful pairing. My wife ordered the lamb with mole negro, but the mole itself was a burnt chocolate, and wasn't sweet enough to justify the pairing, so they replaced it with adobada. The tires leeches was also quite delicate, with a loose crumb and munificent Leche. We'd love to go back.
Yummy cocktails and my entree (veggie enchiladas) was quite tasty. I asked for spicy spicy and I got spicy spicy! Good selection of music, still able to have a conversation. Beautiful candle lit entrance and a warming, cozy fireplace outside to give you a quick dose of heat on a breezy and chilly night.
Food was okay. Our server was pretty obnoxious and was proud to have been there since opening day. However it took 40mins to get a coke and I had to remind him 3 times. He claimed each time I had not asked for one. Quite bizarre. We were a group of 7 and he seemed to be cery snippy with a few in the group. I would not recommend this restaurant.
Great service, romantic ambiance, impressive food. Highly recommend the shrimp ceviche and the passion fruit butter cake!
It’s so beautiful, the ambience, service, food, music, drinks. I was having doubts about how “Mexican “ this restaurant was.try Lobsters Chile Relleno it’s awesome.a must try experience in La Jolla
There isn't many veggie options, I guess just a single and that also was a disappointment. Location and ambience was good but select your table, otherwise they gonna give u anything which u may not like.
I love this place for happy hour! The staff is super friendly, the food is delicious, and most days they have live music. The vibe is good, and it can be packed, so arrive close to 5 to get a table. The ceviche is a fav and the street tacos are the bomb.
I am completely confused by the 5 star ratings of other people; went on a Saturday.pretty patio area and manager/staff was nice, but food was very mediocre, certainly not even close to 5 star, and service quite slow. Would not go again.
Tried for first time last night, very lively hopping bar, which is quite large, had good live music (1 musician) playing which was cool. Has some appetizers in the bar, and they automatically give you really good salsa and chips too. Then had dinner in the dining room. The food is very good, the lamb mole was excellent, as was the carnitas and also we had several of the enchiladas dishes which were good too. Try the street corn side dish, really tasty.
Excellent across the board! Service, environment, food and drinks. A great twist on classics and some amazing creations. And butter cake.
This place has a modern and posh vibe, nicely landscaped outside. Food is tasty, portions generous, mid priced. The high seats are not that comfy though and when we were there it took a while to get the staff's attention, when booking we were put on hold two times for a few mins - almost decided to hang up. Limited or valet parking available. All in all.ok but nothing outstanding.
Excellent restaurant with delicious food, helpful friendly attentive staff. Love sitting in the patio area. Highly recommend for dinner and drinks. Place gets very busy so make reservations if you can especially if your in a large party.
The appetizers & drinks I had at Red O was pretty tasty, but I would say that the service was lackluster, I often had to chase down someone to get another drink. I would return to try their whole menu but was not impressed with the service.
Excellent ambience and courteous staff. The menu is on pricier side though and a shared three course dinner can easily stretch over $100.
Food, ambiance, decor and Franco our server were all spectacular. So looking forward to returning soon.
Went there on a whim around 845 on a Saturday night. There was no host, we were never greeted by an employee, and after standing there for what seemed like at least 5 minutes, finally went to the bar to ask about seating. Not sure if they had just come off of a rush, but there were not a lot of people there; yet service felt like it was slammed - cordial, but at the price point of the menu items, I would have expected more. Decent to okay margarita list and mediocre food. Decor and ambiance were nice, but I wouldn't recommend it overall.
