Spa Refuge reviews

Have tried to make reservations for two weeks with no luck, tried the online system with no luck. Made reservations for another spa in the valley with no problem. On the way I stopped by refuge to see what the problem was, sat in parking lot and tried to call with no luck.so I walk in to see the problem, all employees were just hanging around with their private phones in their face, I can hear the business phone just ringing away I just turned around and walked out.
Went a few days post covid rules being relaxed. Everything was open and we enjoyed the hot and cold tubs and both sauna rooms were open!
The refuge was the best part of our trip to Monterey. Very clean and relaxing and friendly staff. We were really glad that the Himalayan salt steam room/eucalyptus sauna were open during our trip. They also have cold or cool spas and warm and hot larger spas, firepits, zero gravity chairs and hammocks. You can explore as you'd like and they have a policy where everyone is silent and no phoned allowed to detox and to embrace the experience. It is complete healing for the body, mind and spirit.
This place is super-calm and relaxing. We had a wonderful time there. It has 2-3 saunas with different levels of humidity, several swimming pools, and indoor and outdoor relaxation areas.
Amazing experience. Loved the hot to cold process and enforcement of silence and no phones past the locker rooms.
Been here 4-5 times. It's a short 2 hour drive from SF for some quiet, tech free R&R on weekends with luxurious eucalyptus steam rooms, a sauna and various hot and cold plunge pools. I just wish it was something I could do daily!
Reception not so welcoming nor informative especially for first timers. Decloth and sit outside in the rain while you wait for your massage appointment. My massage therapist was ok. Probably one of the worst massages I've ever had. $300 for a 100 minute deep tissue. Not worth it. Thanks, next!
I cant say enough greatness about our cashier she was lovely and traeted us like royalty.best place to relax
Relaxing. Had a very very nice swedish
90 minutes massage and doing the round of the different temperature pools and steam room was nice. Facility is really clean and quiet. Will definitely come back
My wife and I had a weeks stay in Carmel to escape San Francisco. Our massage and spa trip to The Refuge was an amazing highlight of the stay. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Will be returning here whenever we're in the area.
Had an awesome experience at Refuge! Went there on a Saturday evening and it was truly amazing! So relaxing and the staff were great. I was alone and felt comfortable. After a long day of travel, this truly hit the spot! Would highly recommend.
My boyfriend and I were recommended this place, and we visited while we were in town on vacation.what an afternoon! Its so beautiful there, and we enjoyed the "cycles" and then got a massage.amazing amenities and perfect for a solo day, couples, anything at all! I loved the "no phones" and "quiet" rules.it really made the afternoon serene:)
Holy smokes. This place is the most relaxed I have ever been. Make sure to plan on spending at least three hours here to go through the cycle a few times of hot and cold and then read a book or take a nap in their reclining chairs looking out at the spa.
Editing review - I have taken multiple back to this spot and always have a fantastic experience.
This spa is super relaxing and professional: quiet, hot and cold baths, sauna and steam rooms, and awesome massage therapists.
I lost my wallet while I was there, and staff found it in the towel laundry. They even sent it to me overnight!
I have already recommended Refuge to a friend.
Great place to relax. Having a hard time scheduling a massage appointment. Been calling for two days now and no one answers
Great place to relax and melt away your stresses. Sauna, cool and hot tubs, steam room and sun hits the spot. Love it here!
My boyfriend and I spent an entire day here and loved every second of it! The massages were great and the cycle of heat and cold was so refreshing. We will definitely be going back.
As beautiful as it is and as unique a spa experience as it is, if clients don't stop gabbing in what is supposed to be a "silence only" experience, Refuge will degenerate into a kitschy hang out for privileged snots. Employees are simply not enforcing silence. Only solution is to go during the week and early enough to avoid people who either can't read or have no manners.
A perfect weekend getaway at Carmel. Their massages are absolutely amazing and so are their staff. Everyone is extremely friendly and attend to your needs.
The facility is mainly outdoors and bit small, but it's beautiful and relaxing.
We always have a great experience at refuge. We do the thermal cycling at least 5 times. Facilities are very clean and well kept. Can be busy, come early. No talking or cell phones allowed in the pool area
