WE LOVE REKM!
Our 12 year old daughter has been training with Sensei Roy for almost 4 years.and yes.her 15 year old 6’3” brother doesn’t mess with her anymore! Not only has Sensei taught her how to protect herself.but he’s such an amazing person! Very kind, caring but badass AF!
We HIGHLY recommend REKM.we would give Sensei 10 stars if we could.

Best Krav Maga dojo in LA. Sensei Roy is known worldwide as a master in Krav Maga. You learn a lot in a short amount of time because of Roy’s guidance. All the classes are intense and will satisfy anyone who wants to learn a practical and effective martial art or who just wants to get a good workout in. Highly recommend for anyone interested in fitness and martial arts.

Anyone who is contemplating taking martial arts should definitely sign up at REKM! Before joining here, I had some previous martial arts experience, including other Dojos in LA, and they don't even come close to comparing to REKM! I've learned more here in a month than I've learned in three months at other places! What I like most about this place is the instruction.you don't feel like you're getting lost in the class, and I'm always learning something new. If you're feeling apprehensive or scared to come.don't be! Everyone here is so welcoming and eager to help! I'm confident I found the right place to train! Literally, I know a few people that commute all the way from Pasadena to Marina Del Rey to come to class.now that's saying something! ;) See you in class!

My kids have been coming here for over 3 months and thoroughly enjoy it. REKM is great at including everyone and the comprehensive teaching has led to my kids making continuous progress (They are already yellow belts). With 3 lessons per week available, you can also get great value for money from it. Highly recommended!

It's a really great place for my kids to build their strengths and a nice attitude to learning. The Sensei Roy is a wonderful teacher and friend that helps kids and adults reach their full potential and develop many different life skills. I recommend this place for kids to put their energy in and actually get something out of it, and definitely for adults to learn how to protect themselves. Just love this place!

Sensei Roy is amazing with the kids and our daughter loves him! She started on a free week long trial and was completely engrossed in it after the first class. When we came home that day she was practicing what she had learned. The staff is very nice and patient. What we like best is how Sensei is able to focus on each individual student in the class and how it's geared towards self defense and fitness not showy moves. If you want a great martial arts course for you or your child REKM is definitely the place.

Great program for kids as well adults. Both I and my husband take the Krav Maga and boxing classes and our child takes the kid's classes. Great work out, great discipline by great instructors.

This place is great! I have never see a place like this here in the USA. My 4 yr old son is simultaneously treated lovingly and affectionately while also being spoken to like a little man and put through boot camp like training ;) He just started and already the discipline and respect he is learning from class is reflecting at home. He is learning the basics of self defense and how to coordinate his movements, and how to push through his tiredness or feeling of being overwhelmed or desire to give up. As a result he feels great when he is able to surprise himself with what he can do, like recently getting his yellow belt!

My 6 year old daughter has been training in REKM for two years. Classes are great & well structured. All the instructors are highly skilled & professional. We see great progress in her physical development, attention span, and general attitude.

I have trained in several different martial arts academies in the past and I can confidently say that REKM is easily one of the best places I've ever had the privilege to train at. The atmosphere is friendly but productive, the facilities are clean and well kept, and the instruction is simply outstanding. Lastly, I really appreciate the transparency behind the different payment plans and I like the fact that the instructor and staff don't pressure their students to sign contracts of any kind.

It says on his website that there are no hidden fees. Yeah, that's a lie. It's only 100.00 a month after you pay a 200.00 sign up fee. They don't even give you an option to come in an make a payment. They take the money out of your bank automatically. That I did not like but learned to live with. I learned a lot coming here. I do feel more secure in my fighting technique but this place has a lot of drama.

There is always a constant pressure to test, especially for beginners. Just about every class I got asked when was I gonna test. He makes more money off of people testing and he tries to get people to do it, with in a 2 month time spand. The prices for testing are beyond outrageous. I've seen better prices at Krav Maga World Wide and a few other places. I understand that he has to make a living but I'm not trying to pay for anyone's plane ticket.
It made me feel that he only wanted my money.

The space that used to be for showers, boxing class which used to be held upstairs and a locker room has now been turned into an apartment for Roy. I'm not even if sure if he is allowed to do that but he did, so now we go home soaking in sweat. There is no secure place to store your things anymore. This guy basically bought us two racks from Ikea and said here you go. Our stuff is on sheveles out in the open. Anyone could steal your things, with the lack of protection we have in the "locker room".

The mats are not wiped down and sanitized before every class. The boxing gloves smell pretty bad, so bring your own.

*Boxing with Coach Mike is a really good class. He even let's you spar in every class. That part was really awesome.

We could always tell when Roy was in a bad mood. There were times during class where he appeared visibly upset. He would just go upstairs and not come back down for a while. If there were any higher level students around at that time, they'd step in and cover the class until he came back down.

When Roy is not in a bad mood he can be an excellent teacher. The one thing I did like was that if you told him that your foot hurt, or you weren't feeling well, he'd make sure you took a break during class.

Sometimes he'll get smart with you infront of the entire class, if you ask him a question that he thinks is stupid. One time he put a student on blast for missing a couple of classes. Never mind he could have had personal issues.

Another major turnoff are the strategies that he uses to keep women coming back to his class. He constantly flirts with the women there at the Dojo to make the class extra "interesting". He's only flirting with you just so he can keep taking your money. The guy has a girlfriend and is constantly flirting. Sometimes he'll walk by you and give you sexual innuendos, just to let you know that he likes you. Roy uses his company as a stomping ground to try and pick up women who he thinks are naive. Get out whIle you can.

The students there for the most part are very nice. I've run into some students who are a little bit too bold with trying to learn your personal business. In general the people there are nice.

In my personal opinion, Roy seems to be a bit of a user. Instead of hiring another Krav Maga instructor, he uses higher level students to teach the class. This happens whenever he goes out of town. The students do a good job of teaching but they aren't legally qualified to reach the class.

Inconclusion, my fighting techniques have improved a great deal. I just don't like all of the drama that is constantly there at REKM. After the first month of being there you can see people's masks falling off and it's not pretty. Ladies beware of this studio. You can find another dojo that's just as good if not better than REKM. I wish Roy the best but a lot needs to change at the dojo.

I have completed my 7th session last month and now on my 28th session and counting everyday I go and LOVE IT.and I cannot thank Sensei Roy Elghanayan enough, as I've had one of the hardest lives you could possibly have which is I have not seen my DAD for 28 years and I have not seen my MOTHER for about 15 years, lived before in one of the toughest neighborhoods in Los Angeles deep into South Central LA where it was a war zone everyday on Normandie x 107th st and survived many obstacles there and I always did everything Mind Over Matter no matter what it is! So I pushed myself last year to RUN the 26.2 MILES LA marathon with no training last year 2016 February 14th Valentine's Day and with diabetic nerve pain in which it feels like you're walking on fire all day long and Ice pin shooting needle pain and everything combined I could honestly say I was lost for over 15 years because when my mother left my world turned upside down and I was suicidal everyday and I could truly say this is starting to balance me in life now! Yes you do need to push yourself to your limits and mentally block the Pains of life and push for success and reward is your progress I believe but I love every single moment of every challenge that I am experiencing at this amazing DOJO.not to mention how nice everybody is! Even though this is my 7th session, my body is starting to really shape and I am honestly taking this class for many reasons.not just a few sessions and I could honestly say this is the best DOJO I have ever been to very personable and very very caring from Sensei Roy Elghanayan to other instructors such as Pouya I love the warm-ups and I love the challenges and I am glad I signed up and part of this DOJO now! You maybe well ask, why did I share my personal story through my review for others to read and view my story I won't get into but shared the main things I went through without parents, because no matter how hard you had it.somebody could always have it worse than you.so my message is DON'T EVER JUDGE A BOOK BY IT'S COVER and always appreciate your parents I love them and care for them as much as you can and cherish them! Always push for greatness, no matter the obstacles and no matter the life challenges!

HASHEM G-D works in mysterious ways that we cannot understand but later do understand down the line! Hopefully this story of mines inspires you and pushes you in anything you do be very consistent! In anything to do consistency is key to SUCCESS!

Thank you Sensei Roy Elghanayan for all that you do and AM YISRAEL to my last breath!

Very good classes. It was my first martial art place to try and I liked it.
I got fit in about 2 months and the training provided is very helpful.
The staff is friendly, helpful and knowledgeable.
Now, I can walk more confident on the street at night:)
I recommend this place!

Simply amazing staff and trainers/instructors! Students and Trainers all go out of their way to help each other out and bring a sense of family/friendship to the facility while engraining empowering, useful skills into each student at REKM.

I can see how someone would think Roy has emotional issues just working there ive witness him tear people down as well as the manager Leeor they both have this idea that the way to build people up is to tear them down I saw Roy continue to beat on a guy who could barely stand up in a fight after he already fought him made him come back. Then the pricing is horrible Roy took out the showers and other room for boxing to make himself a cozy little apartment. Now people go home with sweat dripping and the schedule bad swell my advice is to go to Krav Maga World wide they have much better and professional teachers gio didn't even show up to his last class or call or anything I felt had because that's not cool to pay over hundreds of dollars every month and the teachers are not even on time.

I have been meaning to write a review from the first day we came to REKM. Reading the reviews below. MI wish I can respond to the gentleman with the one star! You learned two years from Roy yet you spoke of one day that he was " ticked off ". If I was training someone unappreciative I would be ticked off as well! Nothing except positive atmosphere with positive pleasant well trained and beautiful staff. Paula is so nice and eager to please, takes more than extra steps to make the arrangement for classes. Gio trains my 14 years son, he was totally against MMA, till we went there, and now my son nags on me to take him train he was getting bullied at school and Gio is teaching him how to defend him self.he boosted his confidence. Thank you so much We really appreciate you. Clean place with reasonable fees $99 for membership. They have different classes but Krav Maga is what they are known for. Give them a try you won't be disappointed!
