Rey Azteca Restaurant & Bar reviews
10I had the carne asada burrito with chips. The burrito was good but nothing special. It came with guacamole and sour cream your option & it was a nice sized burrito. The place had small bar with seating inside & outside. Friendly atmosphere with polite workers.
Went there to eat several times before. The food is pretty decent. Staff is friendly. I do not suggest going there if you have a large family unless they are not crowded. The place is small, and there is only one outside bathroom per sex. Also, the beighborhood is pretty run down anymore. Otherwise, enjoy the great food and service.
So, my toes are wiggling as I write this because I'm that happy to be back at Rey's. We remember when this location opened. We had just moved in around the corner & it quickly became our rest hole. I don't know how many friends, family, colleagues or out of town guests we fed during the years we lived so close.
Apx 13 years ago we left CA & moved to AZ. I still can't find comparable food.
In one of my previous visits back home, I packed up a couple of meals & took it home on the plane. I grew up with a Hispanic aunt & love good Mexican food.
That being said, I'm back in town for a stressful time, yet thrilled covid political reaction didn't close them down.
After a stressful morning, we came in for lunch. We recognized loved faces & we ordered my Chili Colorado Mega Wet & a Carnita plate. I sucked on chips cradling the beloved sour cream sauce & salsa selection. I cried over a margarita. I savored every bite. I took half home to share with my mom.
We dropped $50 for 2 meals, Margarita, tip
I love you, Rey Azteca

Edited 4/21/23: Took one star back. The margaritas to go were all freaking ice. Ordered two large and after taking out ice there wasn’t enough liquid to fill one carry out cup. A serious rip off for such a great place. Food was excellent service was good. Love this little joint. A place chefs will go too. Just don’t order the margarita.
Really great food, however I'm like 95% certain an employee memorized my credit debit card information and attempted to make a purchase later the same day.
I have been coming here since my children were little, now I am a grandmother. The family loves this place. It's a great place to bring friends and family.
By far one of my favorite Mexican food restaurant's. Food is so authentic. The molcajete is my favorite.
Rey Azteca isn't as good as it used to be. They're not good anymore. Chille rellano carna asada burrito.
I don't know what happened to this place. But the only thing worth getting is molcajete!
Me and ex-cowoker went here. They have very good food and very good and great ambiance We definitely had a great time. Plus the food and drinks are reasonably priced
Want fresh authentic Mexican food? Want amazing service and great parking? Check out Rey Azteca in Carmichael. Had the Carne asada quesadilla. Deliciously fresh. My friends had the omelet and burritos. They looked delicious
The service was very good and the owner took the time to come to our table and say hi. Outstanding way to spend a Friday.
