Richard Walker's Pancake House

I must say every time we visit San Diego, Richard Walker's is a must. I've also brought so many here when on business trips to SD.
But this place WAS good, we always looked forward to breakfast here.
Well I must say today's visit was such a disappoint.
1) seating was so bad, I was practically sitting in the aisle and in the way of the servers, we asked to be moved, it was after we moved they then realized the bad lication so they removed the table and chairs cause it was blocking the aisle, and in my opinion was a fire hazard
2) service was so bad, we had to ask for the rest of our order that they forgot and we even ask for butter for our toast, there was none, and to top it off, we never received it.
3) food was very disappointing, they forgot the hash browns, she literally asked, "did I forget something" really, check your notes. When they came, they were stale. I ordered my eggs poached medium, they were over cooked, dried cooked yolks, I barely ate half of one, couldnt deal with em, as for the patties, they say thier seared, but no searing just barely toasty.
You'll see in the picture, I tried to eat it, I really tried, I even gave some hash browns to wife she too said they were bad.
4) When our third or fourth different server asked "did you want to take it home", I said "no, it was all bad", she ignored my reply and took my plate away.
They don't give flip about you or what your experince was like, or their food, or the service you get.

This place has changed.
I'm sure the excuses will follow my post from their management, but I post as a warning to all of you, not for them.
I don't think they'll change.
Visit if you didn't mind "taking a chance" cause that's all you'll get, a chance.
Who knows maybe it'll go good for ya.
As for us (and I'll message all my friends),
Just not worth it!
"Time to find another breakfast place".
This is off our radar.

We say Good bye to another location that has forgotten what made them fabulous.

Love this place. Always consistent excellent service & delicious food! Ms Stacey took great care of me as did the rest of the staff. I travel to San Diego for business a few times a year, if my schedule allows, I always have breakfast at Richard Walker’s. If you arrive early, before 0800, you will not have to stand in line. But if you have to wait, it’s worth it!

Friendly staff, good service. Breakfast was excellent. We are there 3 times for breakfast during our latest stay in San Diego. Large omelets and great tasting coffee. Pancakes are good too!

Side note: This restaurant caters to those with gluten issues. My wife enjoyed the waffles and pancakes.

Found this little gem on our last San Diego trip. The food is delicious, and the portions are huge. I have yet to have something I don't love. This is definitely our new go to breakfast place.

Bad service, gave us the wrong dish and forced us to pay for it (extra 10$), additional to all of that the waiter was wrong with the bill. Oh and i forgot that i saw one other waiter take plate that wasn’t used from a table to the new plates pile. Definitely not recommend.

I had Richards pancake flight and it was nice! 6 pancakes in total 3 different in one plate! Get to chose own. I had the bacon pancakes, blueberry pancakes, and chocolate chip pancakes and they were all delicious!

Second time here and just as good as the first. Food is delicious and coffee is amazing. This will be the new breakfast spot while in San Diego

If could give a 0 I would. Order avocado toast, toast was not toasted so I asked for toasted toast they brought back the same toast with a cold egg on it, the same egg as the first toast. Really who does that awful

Worst service ever. 30 minute wait for 3 pancake dishes. Swedish cakes came without lingonberries and syrup. Server somehow disappeared. Had to ask someone else 2 times for missing items. Finally came 20 minutes later. Cakes were then cold. Won’t go back. Maybe just a bad day for them. It was for me.

Food was great here at Richard Walker’s Pancake House! We stopped in for brunch after the San Diego SEAL Tour (also highly recommended). Kids had chocolate chippies, wife and I split the avocado toasts and hash browns. Delicious! Service was great also, very friendly and accommodating. My coffee was warmed up many times, which I appreciated greatly ;)

The staff and Management here are beyond exceptional. Well trained, engaged, personable and genuinely care about their service and the restaurant. Love the staff and the food is pretty darn good.

We ordered a verity of dishes and the food was mediocre. There were many mistakes in our order. A glass of orange juice costs $6 and didn't taste good. This place is expensive and the food was just not that good. The pancakes at IHOP are better.

The atmosphere of the restaurant was great and is a nice place to eat and spend some time. The restaurant was clean and the staff was friendly. Our waiter was very good and he was training another employee so kudos to him. We had the mushroom pizza and the seared tuna and both were good, I just with the tuna dish was bigger or came with a side. Also had the whipped feta which was great. Prices are fair. Would go back for sure

Absolutely loved this restaurant and their staff! Great service and plenty of options at a reasonable price. Staff is super attentive and delightful! Must have their pancakes and coffee.

Wow, the apple pancake was phenomenal! There was quite a line when we arrived, but processed thru quickly & it wasn't near as long as I expected. Definitely worth the short wait!

The Apple Pancake was sweet, but not too sweet and the flavor wasn’t totally reliant on the apples, sugar, and cinnamon. Loved the texture.

The food and coffee here is absolutely fantastic. Although the wait times can be a bit long on the weekends, it is well worth the wait. Customer service is top notch as well. I ordered many things. The corned beef hash and eggs is probably one of the best I’ve tried. The baked pancakes are excellent and innovative. It’s more of a dessert style dish being so savory and delicious. The coffee is great. Everything was great and to top it off, very affordable! Finding parking can be tricky in the busy weekends but it is well worth the hassle. Great experience.

The Specialty Apple Pancake was amazing. The rest of the food was just ok. Avocado Toast Flight left much to be desired. The omelet was over cooked and not super flavorful. I was happy we tried it, but probably wouldn't go back.
