Rising Star and Dr. Shumaker are detail oriented. He identified my youngest daughter's 'vision' issue as one relating to muscle spasms and promptly put her through vision therapy. He identified Myopia in my oldest daughter providing us with developmentally appropriate options. He is also works with those recovering from concussions, which is a service I will be tapping into. We've known Dr. Shumaker for three years and recommend him to all our friends.

My two girls - both of whom were born with significant vision challenges - were patients of Dr. Shumaker almost from the time they could walk. He and his team are hands down the bay area experts in vision therapy - the outcome of which for both my kids was very successful. Dr. Shumaker also has such a wonderful demeanor when working with children (and their parents). My kids love seeing him and bantering with him - while at the same time he can explain complex health situations in terms parents can understand. Everyone in the office is warm and helpful. If you have children with vision challenges, Rising Star Optometry is the best.

We feel so lucky to be so well taken care of. My son's vision steadily improved (without surgery) and he is empowered to take care of his eyes because of the guidance of the doctors here.
