Robata Wasa, Irvine CA

The sushi platter was excellent. A bit pricey but the quality was very good. Everything tasted great. We also tried the panko brie, which was good but on the smaller side.

Japanese fusion foods that got lost. The udon soup base tastes very weird.it's nothing Japanese and very spicy, not expected for a simple vegetable udon dish. Chicken Karaage is more like Taiwanese popcorn chicken.

Price is kind of reasonable for its location, yet mediocre services and very loud pop music makes it very unpleasant dining experience. We sat there for 20 mins with no server coming to take drink or food order. Complained to the host and nothing was done. Complained to him again another 5 mins later, he finally went to the back to speak to someone and a waiter eventually came over and said the host never marked the table as occupied. Very odd excuse, but I don't want to waste energy finding out the what the problem is. The only plus side of this restaurant is its location, but I'd spend my money somewhere else. Many better options within a short walk.

Wonderful staff and atmosphere. We ordered 2 rolls, a salad and takoyaki for 2 to share, and went home stuffed with leftovers! Everything was so flavorful, and for the amount of food, it is definitely worth it.

Nice establishment with a wide variety of dining options, not limited to just sushi. Udon bowls are tasty and large, plus signature dishes of lobster and squid are uniquely superb.
Service is also excellent too!

The Volcano Roll is a must try. It’s delivered in flames and Tasty flavors! I could have eaten 3 rolls just because it was that delicious. The bartender is really attentive. We sat at the bars and enjoyed sushi with wine. We love this place and will continue to come back.

Used to be good. But now infested with rats! You can literally see the rats on the ceiling.

I recently met up with a friend at the Spectrum and we decided to dine at Robata Wasa and overall had a decent experience. As soon as we entered, you could see the traditional Japanese bowls and plate sets hanging around the walls. It really helped set the tone for the restaurant's ambiance. The open kitchen in the back was also a nice touch.

Although we were seated quickly, it took a bit of time for our server to take our orders. However, once we did order, the food came out promptly. We did have to ask for water refills multiple times, as there weren't many servers on shift.

As someone who tried several sushi restaurants in Orange County, I have to say that the food at Robata Wasa was just okay. While the karaage was excellent, their specialty rolls fell short. The baked salmon had too much rice and not enough fish. However, the karaage was the standout appetizer. We actually ordered two because it was that good. The homemade sauce was delicious, and the addition of lemon gave a nice zing to the dish.

While I enjoyed my experience at Robata Wasa, I don't think it's a place I would go out of my way to revisit. Maybe if I were meeting up with friends and needed a quick meal, I would consider coming back.

My wife and I came to have dinner here and we were so glad we did. We went at a good time around 530pm on a Saturday night. We were sitted immediately and were greeted with such great energy. Tiya, our waitress was so tentative and a pleasure chatting with. Food came out fast and was delicious. We’re definitely coming back and trying the Brie cheese appetizer that Tiya highly recommended. Thank you so much for such great service, keep up the great work to Tiya and all the staff.

Located in Irvine Spectrum this upscale Robata offers a variety of food offerings from sushi to cocktails. This visit I opted in for a couple signature roles. Both were falling apart upon arriving at the table. One bite and it was very bland despite being described as one of their signature dishes. What a major let down and would not order again. Bartender was a little rude and kept trying to get us to order a bottle of sake. I was obtaining from drinking that evening and had to remind them multiple times. Overall I'd give Robata Wasa another shot, but maybe if I were in a group.

Our waitress was very attentive and the food was delicious. As you can see my guest and I couldn't wait to dig in on the Calamiri Tempua. The RW sashimi player, and Lobster roll was awesome.

Excellent Japanese menu. We had sukiyaki, a special roll, and the house special bento. Each was beautifully presented and delicious.

They don’t deserve a good review from me. This is the third time I’ve come in and waited 15+ minutes for a server to come and they weren’t even busy and I got up because I waited too long for a server and they never came as I’m getting up some party was seated and the waitress goes immediately to that table. Now it’s just me and my daughter so i don’t know if it’s because they server wanted a bigger party for the tip money or what, however, the whole situation was messed up and no customer should be treated this way and just looked over. I’m not gonna give my money to 1. A overpriced sushi place (cause I looked at the menu prices) and 2. A company with terrible service. Thanks for nothing, never going back here. EVER AGAIN.

Not sure we will return to this restaurant.

We came here for the hamachi kama but they ran out by 6: 30pm. We were bummed. We ordered the salmon kama instead. That was nicely prepared and not over cooked. Miso soup was delicious. Cucumber salad, agedashi tofu and crispy whole shrimp I wouldn't recommend.
