Rockefeller Loop reviews
10This loop will leave you silent, walking in awe, and grateful for the great efforts made to preserve this piece of unique nature.
Beautiful, uncrowded circular route (approx. 45 minutes) in a fantastically beautiful forest with sequoia trees. It's so quiet here, it's just beautiful!
I hiked across the Eel River
from the Women's Club
Grove to view this ancient
forest.
The short loop trail takes
you past some of the tallest
trees in the world.
It is impressive to see the
tall trees that are standing
and the ones that have fallen
to the ground.
You will find a connection
to the Bull Creek Trail and
the trees in this area are
a good example of the
old forest.
It is hard to find the road
into the area as it descends
steeply into the forest.
You have to look for a small
sign off Mattole Road on the
left.
A great place to view a
forest from hundreds of
years ago with towering
ancient trees in a beautiful
setting.
The redwood forest is just incredible. The drive here isn't too far from the highway and yet it's serene. Highly recommend to casual hikers.
This short and easy loop connects to other trails, so you can go longer if you want. We started going down the trail across the river towards Burlington camp, which is more of a moderate hike with up and downhill. The redwoods get smaller once you get onto that trail.
We think this short walk is better than Founders Grove Trail. Bugs not bad at all this time of year!
No bathrooms onsite. The trail was nice to stretch your legs. The entrance to get to the parking lot was hard to get into coming from the north. We had to go pass the turn and turnaround. Much easier from the south direction. Parking is limited. But we didn’t have trouble finding a spot on a late Friday afternoon the end of June.
This is hands down the most beautiful forest I've ever been to. The massive, magical redwood trees are dense, majestic AF and the trail is accessible for everyone (though bikes are not allowed.) If you have just one chance to see the Redwoods, this stop is awesome.
This is my favorite place I’ve ever been to in the whole, wide, vast world. From SF, get on the 101 North, drive about 4 hours, get off at Honeydew Exit on the Ave of the Giants, make two lefts and look out for the left turn. Unreal. Breathtaking. Serene.
