Roll Call - Koreatown reviews
16 Sushi Rolls, Bento, Chicken Wings. All my cravings is one place! Everything we had was delicious. SUSHI ROLLS (Ktown Roll and Side Chicken Roll) were creative and fresh, SUKIYAKI BENTO had so much food that 2 people could easily share it, ORANGE CHICKEN WINGS were huge, crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside and their THAI TEA was perfect!
They also had RICE BOWLS, POKE and CHINESE DISHES on the menu that we didn't get to try. Atmosphere was casual, customer service was great, the place was clean and there's FREE PARKING behind the restaurant. So convenient.
I really can't think of anything negative to say about this place. We will definitely be back if we are in the area!
If you like rolls, this is a great place to go to grab a quick bite. I ordered the bowl, and everything was fresh, and the rice was cooked properly. The portion was just right, and the food delicious.
Wait staff was rude and immature, fast food style ordering with fine dining prices. Will not come back, the bolgogui was soupy and mealy at the same time. The eel bones weren’t properly taken out, very dangerous… Definitely not worth the $37 per person!
It was good. They give you a lot of food. I got the chicken bento and wings. Very nice! Service was good to, they always checked on me to see if I needed something and when I did they didn’t delay. Food came out fast and it’s all cooked there fresh on the spot. Will be back to try a different plate soon.
I went to compliment the staff for sushi however I had security called on me for being black. I would never influence nor return again after this treatment.
I went back in to pay compliment about recent experience and staff attacked me and called security to ask me to leave. I noticed that nefarious things were happening when I was there and to be honest I don't feel like ever returning back.
Great Service Hands Down. Will be back soon. Big portions of great quality ingredients for the price. Very clean establishment. Forgot to take pictures.
Try the bento for chicken, beef and salmon, as well as their Tuna bowl. Very good and love their rice, so Japanese
This place is a mixed bag and what you get depends, largely on the chef. For example- the salmon skin salad might be delicious on mixed greens or it might be a bowl of shredded cabbage. Most of the time you're able to modify an order (like removing rice from a roll) but some chefs aren't willing to accommodate - unfortunately. Also, the wait staff is pretty forgetful - almost always. Never bringing your beverages or your soup and not checking on you to see if you need anything. Big fat - meh.
Today for my Birthday Lunch I decided to get some sushi delivered to my home. I was expecting ok sushi but what I got was some GREAT SUSHI everything was perfect 5 STARS and if you go through my past reviews I never give 5 STARS!
THANKS ROLL CALL SUSHI!
So the sushi was ok but the place was poor. It had a McDonald's feel which I didn't think suited a sushi place.
My cousin and I had 2 bento boxes (1 chicken, 1 beef for protein). We were impressed by the beautiful presentation and the relatively large serving of the dishes. I had spring roll instead of gyoza in the set.
The foods were TASTY, especially the beef teriyaki and spring roll. What made the experience better was the warm sake that made me miss Japan which I last visited in 2019 (and 3x before that). The prices of beer and sake were the SAME as at the supermarkets.
Service was jet-speedy. I enjoyed watching the chefs prepare the rolls right at the front end. Very Tokyo-ish indeed!
We ordered a to-go bento for my cousin's wife. It was equally impressive.
Arigato Roll Call. Salamat! Thank you for the real Japanese experience.
Next time, I will try their Korean offerings, which according to friends, are also superb.
It hurts me to put this rating, but I ate from Roll Call just yesterday and I've been dealing with food poisoning since last night. I get sushi often and never had stomach pains from it until now. This place used to be my go-to for a long while now and would consider it one of my favorite places. Though as of the more recent years, it isn't the place I used to know. In my honest opinion some the rolls aren't as fresh as before, the katsu chicken is dry and seemed like it was reheated. Also the rice in the bento came mushed up in the bottom.
I do understand that ingredients are harder to get post-covid and work is difficult. It's hard to give this place a good score especially after getting food poisoning.
Roll call used to be better. The prices went up and the quality of the food doesn’t reflect that. The inside of the place always looks a little sad with all the boxes and storage that they have where people eat.
Come with me to try some of the best sushi rolls I've ever had!
CRISPY RICE with SPICY TUNA
I have to order this at every sushi restaurant, such a great palate-opener.
SUNKIST ROLL
So much salmon. I was in literal heaven. No rice in this sushi roll if you can believe it!
KTOWN ROLL
This was so unbelievably good omg. Spicy tuna and shrimp tempura base, topped with eel tempura. You have to get this if you can only try one thing!
SHRIMP TEMPURA UDON SOUP
So comforting on a cold day.the perfect bowl of happiness.
Another perk: Free parking underground, a rarity in the heart of LA but l'l take it ;)
Thanks for reading! ^-^
The food was very good. However the employee should be teach to be more respectful with the customers.
