Eggplant caponata is so good here. Made I. House with fresh local produce. I recommend it every time.

Ok good pizza. Wish they had a white chicken option. Great salad. Staff was functional, no smiles or friendliness and the place was empty.

My family was trying to eat at this restaurant. Our toddler son was laughing and admittedly being loud. He is only one and we were doing everything we could to get him to stop. Whatever man is working there walked over and asked us to leave after maybe 2 minutes of this happening. We immediately agreed to and as we are leaving the man follows up with “you know it’s not polite to have him screaming in here”. I apologized to the people sitting around us and we left. I cannot believe we were treated this way! We were already leaving and for him to come back to our table to tell us we were being rude? ! I will never go back. This isn’t a family establishment whatsoever so I suggest steering clear if you’re bringing young children.

Love the authentic feel of this place easily the best pizza I've had in years, had blue cheese, peppercini, and tomato pizza!

I ordered a vegetarian pizza for pickup. I waited several minutes for service when I arrived, even though only two tables were occupied in the restaurant. The vegetarian pizza was missing both the mushrooms and onions. It only had a few pieces of bell pepper. It mainly only had black olives and sliced tomatoes. Although disappointed in the toppings, the pizza had a good amount of cheese and the crust was good.

Some of the best food in Julian! Good food and decent selection of beer/wines. The place is an old house converted into a restaurant so it gives off a very homey vibe inside

The staff was very welcoming to us. They kindly opened the door and got us a table right away. The staff was very helpful. They answered our questions and got us our food in a timely manner. The dining room was clean and pleasant. We had plenty of food, with leftovers. The staff took our food and boxed it up for us.
We were there to search out a place for our son's rehearsal dinner. This place has scored very high on our list.

Highly recommend this place usually we do barbecue when we come to Julian but I think I’m going to switch to pizza. The people are all super nice and the food was very good.

I went around noon today and the customer service was great. The atmosphere was quaint and I love how they converted an old historic looking house into the restaurant. Their pasta was also good. I loved their bread and balsamic.

I am so nostalgic about this place! Of course, I will never quite get over a few missing menu items from back in the day like the candied carrots and german cabbage combo or the bleu cheese and mozarella baked garlic mashed potatoes… or the full liquor license bar… … but life goes on I guess! And so will the legacy of this legendary Julian place!

The place says it is pet friendly but it is not.our cups, forks, knives, plates, and table was gross. Dishes were not very clean. I would never eat there. The bread still looked raw. The servers were very polite

It was our last night in the area so what better way to finish off our visit than a really good Italian place. We walked in and the place was quite quaint as it was located inside an old home which gave it a great cozy feel. I ordered the spiedini which was a beef dish, stuffed and on skewers. Our food was brought out in a short amount of time and everyone in our party loved their dish. The service was top notch which just added to our overall experience. For what we paid and what we served it was well worth and I would gladly dine here again.

I had a terrific entree, Pasta Pacifica. It included scallops, shrimp, cod, and came with an exquisite butter sauce and linguini. We also enjoyed the mussels, and garlic and morrazella cheese bread appetizers. The house salad was also excellent, as was the service. Recommended.

Edit: Added photos from our last visit. Pasta Porticello and Pepperoni & Garlic Pizza!

Romanos is a must for us when traveling west! Not only is the food amazing the atmosphere feels so homey and intimate while also elevated. You can't come Julian and not eat here.

Cute little place a block from where we were staying. Place was packed and I see why. Creamy pesto linguine was so good you could just eat the sauce (pesto and Alfredo) with a spoon. Fettuccine Romano was rich and delicious. Fresh rolls and an antipasto salad (or soup) come with dinner. We'll be back for sure.

Let me start off by saying the service was INCREDIBLE, our waitress was great. Now to the review, we went to Julian to get a bite to eat on our way to baja, every restaurant was packed except this location it was pretty much empty which should have been a red flag. We went there since we had a baby and needed something not so crowded. When we got the menu the prices were a bit much but we figured the food must be amazing due to the reviews.

Well we were SOO WRONG. The tortellini was bland, it came in a spinach sauce that was so bland I had to add a mountain of salt, red pepper flakes and parmesan cheese. Pretty much anything with flavor available and I did mention it to the waitress when asking for salt for it but nothing was done to fix it.

My fiance ordered the alfredo, they asked if he wanted chicken to go with it and he agreed, the chicken was an upcharge of $8 which wasn't mentioned to us but it would have been fine if the chicken had flavor. It was so dry and with no seasoning.

I'm Italian and Spanish and I know our food has so much more flavor than this food. It was upsetting not being able to find literally any flavor. I hope this was a one time thing and it gets fixed. 3 meals came out to $80 and it was the most disappointing meal of my life. For $80 I expect a bit of seasoning.

This place is a gem! I was able to meet the owner, and he was a real class act! Come to find out that his son was our waitor, was even more awesome! This place has recipes from generations. The taste was authentic, my wife being Italian, I highly recommend y'all to dine here.
