Rombauer Vineyards Sierra Foothills, Plymouth CA

I enjoyed our visit to the Rombauer Vineyards in the Sierra Foothills on this rainy day today. We were impressed by the whole experience.

The grounds are beautiful, including vineyards rolling across gentle slopes with mountains framing the backdrop, with trees, flowers, and both covered and uncovered seating and tables surrounding the tasting room, creating an ambiance of rustic elegance and a place to shelter from the rain.

We were warmly welcomed by the friendly and knowledgeable staff who were happy to answer our questions and suggest tasting of the varieties of wine they produce. As we tasted the selection, I found the wine to be excellent across the board.

By the end of our visit to Rombauer Vineyards, I felt not only that I had tasted some truly great wine in a gorgeous setting, but also that I had received genuine hospitality from a staff that cares deeply about the wine they make. I very much look forward to returning to these beautiful grounds to further explore their offerings! From the scenery to the wine itself and especially the friendly faces, Rombauer gives you an outstanding winery experience!

This is Rombauer's Sierra Foothills tasting room and it's a testament to the quality and class that is distinctly Rombauer. Most of the servers are pleasant if a bit mechanical. The wine is too notch and the setting comfortable and gorgeous. Make a reservation and come enjoy some fabulous wines.

I just love this Vineyard! We are members and we’re so grateful to be so. We had a recent family event, and I was so proud to set up a winetasting and bring a portion of my family. I wish I could remember the gentleman‘s name who did our wine tasting; he did an absolutely amazing job, and he accommodated a late arrival. I think will set up another winetasting when it’s time to meet our new in-laws families as well, and if you go there, don’t forget to drink Chardonnay! Is the very buttery best!

This has become my favorite Rombauer tasting room. The staff is great and the tasting room is great to hangout in. There is also a large outdoor area which can be used most of the year.

They also sell meats and cheese to have with your tasting

We had a wonderful visit to the Plymouth tasting room. Rachel made us feel so special! Knowledgeable, enthusiastic and fun! She explained the wine club to us and we are super excited to be new members! Jake was awesome and gave us a great deal of history about the Rombauer family! Can't wait to come back!

We thoroughly enjoyed a wine tasting here last Sunday. Rombauer wines are a favorite and these did not disappoint. We sampled the 2022 Sauvignon Blanc, 2021 Carneros Chardonnay, 2021 Santa Luca Highlands Pinot Noir, 2020 California Zinfandel and the 2020 Fiddletown Zinfandel. All were great examples of Rombauer’s excellent offerings. The Sauvignon Blanc was especially refreshing and was not quite as fruity as a Kim Crawford or Oyster Bay but had a more mellow fruit flavor. The Chardonnay was neither too oaky nor too buttery but was a superb combination of just the right amounts of each resulting in an especially palate-pleasing taste. We have always enjoyed Rombauer Chardonnays. The Pinot Noir was also very good. Surprisingly good were the Zins. Both were very drinkable and offered unique finishing notes of blackberry, cherry and a hint even of smokiness. Very delightful and possibly habit-forming. We also thoroughly enjoyed the setting which is completely different from Napa Valley. Less commercialized, more laid back and rustic, it was the perfect spot for a casual afternoon of tasting and visiting with others. Highly recommend!

Here is the thing about Rombauer. The wines are great. You’re never disappointed. However the cost for tasting is higher than the average winery in Amador County. With that said I visited for Big Crush Weekend and the food, wine, atmosphere were great. Very pleased. - Food by Taste in Plymouth.

A beautiful tasting room with knowledgeable and friendly staff. Highly recommend to anyone who enjoys good wine.

Decent experience. The pairing dishes were underwhelming and service was on paper plates which broke the crafted ambiance. The wine and spaced seating allowed for a relaxed and un-rushed feeling. Purchased several bottles. I will visit again.
