Ronin Barber Shop, Costa Mesa CA

Sometimes I get a 10 dollar cut in Little Saigon, but I come here when I want an actual haircut and be actually taken care of ahead of an event where I'll be in pictures. Long is a great Barber and gives you tips to maintain your cut based on your daily routine. He's a great chat too, super smart and a barber who really cares about hia customers.

Really great cut, cool people, the shop has got style. I asked for a cut, Long made recommendations and I've already recommended him to my buddies.

Imagine this - 6 days out from your wedding…and your regular barber you’ve been seeing for the last 2 years bails on an appointment you’ve had set up for nearly a month…to make it worse, you’re traveling for work in the 5 days leading up to your wedding, with only 1 day to get a haircut/beard trim…get the picture? Ok cool, that is the exact predicament I found myself in this morning.

Like any sensible adult, I sprang into action and began calling barber after barber on yelp. Would you believe that I called 5 shops (at 11 am on a Monday) before a single person picked up the phone? Lucky for me, that person was Long @ Ronin. I calmly explained Long my situation, and asked if he had any availability to squeeze me in before tomorrow…without hesitation he exclaimed, ”I got you man, see you at 6: 45”.

From the moment I walked into his shop, I knew he was the real deal. I waited maybe 5 min for him to finish up the cut before mine - then was seated, showed him a pic and he got to work. Not only is this the best haircut I’ve ever gotten - but he made suggestions the entire way, on ways he thought he could improve the picture I showed him - little tweaks he could make here and there based on the shape of my head etc etc. You can tell Long really cares about his clients - I was the last cut of the night and not once did I feel rushed, or like he was trying to get out of there. It was masterful, meticulous - and above all else done with pride.

After walking out that door I knew I’d be back soon - I don’t think I’ll ever be able to go to another barbershop - it just won’t do now that I know Long is the MAN. Thank you a million times my friend, you are truly a master at your craft.

Long is a fantastic barber, and more importantly, an excellent dude.

He's been cutting my hair for over 4 years now, and every time I get my hair cut, I get so many compliments it honestly makes me a little uncomfortable. But at least I know it's good!

I have been a valued costumer of Ronin barber shop for a long time now. I can tell you that I am valued because Long has always put maximum effort in making my experience enjoyable. Long has the experience and talent. I have thick, asian hair and he is able to give it some style to it. He's been my go to barber for over 2 years now. If you're like me and want to get a clean cut, I highly recommend going here. The shop is really cool inside too.

Upstairs, spacious digs replete with comfortable, antique barber chairs. The huge, exterior deck lets the outside in. Called the owner re a problematic beard. He said he had no barbers in but he'd squeeze me in between appointments. It took him 10 minutes to fade in the edges and give the unruly bush a strong shape. At the end he said: "I didn't do much, give me $5. " Made my day. Highly recommended.

I’ve worked with both Long and Jack and each time they were exquisite. Professional, experts at what they do, and open minded.

I’m very bad when it comes to describing what haircut I want, but they’ve always helped guide me to what I’m looking for without judgement and it always turns out great. I’d recommend Ronin’s any day!

Hands down the best barbershop! George is a master artist that knows exactly how to sculpture hair. A great environment and great barbers! Every barber here is super chill and will always do what you tell them. I changed my hairstyle at this barbershop, and it's always been on point! I will recommend this place and will be back again.

I had an urge to get a haircut on a Sunday and they were open! Welcoming ambiance plus friendly barbers. My barber is an expert when it comes to hairstyling. He got exactly what I meant when I said the type of cut, perhaps an obsolete term. He nailed the cut and I walked away quite happy. Thank you so much!

They have attention to detail and patience with my boys. Great environment for the kids and definitely has a flavor to it that makes it unique. Prices are generally the same as most other shops but the talent and staff are awesome, unlike the other salon/ barbershop. I always recommend John to everyone who asks where they can get a good haircut, but you request any one of them for they are all professional.

I chose this place for I knew that many people talked about this online. I appreciate the time detail and skill of Mark. He's not rushed while doing the haircut. Besides that, it's a very clean, professional atmosphere and they play great music while you wait! What else can I say, this place is awesome. Highly recommended!

Long (barber shop owner) is so knowledgeable about hair. In my life I've never met someone so passionate about hair. Long started this place 6 years ago (that could be wrong) with nothing but just enough money to start his dream. He did it and had barley enough to get through the next few months. He is now on his 6th year and business is doing great. Long has taught me things about hair that you would never have knew existed. Apparently it's possible to fix a patchy facial hair, or that you can actually control the way your hair grows! Anyways go support this barber shop, staff is great super welcoming. Free beverages and quality products! I drive from la County to Newport, so should you!
