Rosen Sound reviews
8 I have a Memorymoog synth which is one of the most complex synths ever to work on. I had previously sent it across the country to get it "repaired" by a company who are suppose to be the best. A year and a half later it was returned to me but unfortunately, within a month it was broken again.
I found Rosen Sound locally and brought it over. It was returned to me in a fraction of the time and at a reasonable price. So far, I'm super happy with the repair. It's like a new synth.
People need to realize that this is a specialized business and you won't get your instrument back within a week. Relax, and just be thankful you found these guys.
Rob and team did an amazing job refurbishing my JP8, it sounds way better than it has in years, they found stuff that I didn't even know was broken and completely exceeded my expectations. Highly recommend!
Brought in my rev2 Prophet 5. I was very patient to get it repaired properly being it was frozen at startup. They found the very rare SSM chip and other issues were found and repaired. Even installed new firmware with added features!
They know synths. Highly recommend.
Brought in a Jupiter 6 and very pleased with how it came back. Went in with a few keys not responsive and some controls behaving erratically. When I brought it in Rob tested the unit with me and explained to me aspects of the synth I wouldn't have even thought to have checked. 2 1/2 weeks later I got it back at a fair price. Highly recommended for old synths.
Good rate, good service. I brought my Korg Triton in for sticking keys and a shorting cord receptor. I had to bring it back because the keys were still sticking, and they took it for no extra charge to fix what was not entirely done the first time. Had they not done that, they'd only have gotten 3 stars. Since they were honest with their work (that is important when doing business), they get 5 stars. Now my Korg is back up killing it in the studio! Thanks Rosen Sound (Rob and crew).
I couldn't help but notice something that the owner mentions on his website. He says that his business is the only one in town that works on large & difficult synthesizers. DON'T BELIEVE THIS BOLD CLAIM! There are plenty of techs in the Los Angeles area that have been doing this for longer and who are way more experienced.
He also mentions this - "We have access to the most most fruitful sources of parts, meaning your synth has a very low chance of unsuccessful repair due to parts availability". DO NOT BELIEVE THIS EITHER! Almost anything can be fixed these days and from the right tech.
It sounds like this guy is trying to make a name for himself by stretching the truth and by just flat out lying.
This ISN'T saying that he can't repair stuff or that he is a bad tech.
Be cautious when considering techs like this. More and more these younger techs are popping up which don't have the experience the older, more seasoned techs have.
Rob was very helpful and did a great job my Juno 106. Plan to go here for all of my synth repair needs.
