Royal Oaks Winery Tasting Room, Solvang CA

After trying several wine tasting rooms the past 2 days with all excellent wines.it was nice to have a wine tasting room that not only featured your basic wines but had a full collection of sweet fruit flavored wines. I didn't expect to like them but OMG they were amazing! Jennifer was awesome and so was Nina! I highly recommend this place! We loved it!

Worst experience ever!

After having a great experience last year during the Solvang Wine Walk, we decided to make it a yearly event, and recruited other couples to join us this year.

We loved the fruit wines and was really looking forward to the Royal Oak stop, only to be treated like second rate citizens.

I’m not sure what changed from a year ago, but we were pushed off to the side, and basically rushed out the door, so they could focus their attention on others who showed up for a normal wine tasting.

When I asked to taste a wine I bought a case of last year, I was told it was not on the list, really?

Big mistake, you lost our business forever and we found a fruit wine at another winery during our day that is far better.

Your customer service needs to improve, your wines aren’t that good to overcome the atmosphere folks look to enjoy.

What a great experience. Had the white and red selection tasting and Jennifer set us up with a great atmosphere and awesome chocolates with really cool interactions of the patrons.highly recommended

Was recommended to try this winery so we walked from one end of the town down to do a tasting. Showed up at 4: 40 pm when sign outside said 5pm closing. Was refused a tasting told I could buy bottles of wine still. Seemed like there was a private party or friends inside getting a tasting. Won't be back.

A friend recommended this place to me so had to come try it out and let me tell you, it's definitely worth the drive! My boyfriend and I came to visit on an early Friday afternoon. We're both lovers of sweet dessert wines so this place was a must try! We arrived shortly after 12 and we were the only ones in the tasting room. Jennifer was super knowledgeable and made the experience even more enjoyable. She was very sweet and attentive. We did the fruit wine flight which consisted of 5 sweet wines: Royal Rosé, Royal Raspberry, Cherri Amour, Sangria, and Winter Pear.

Each wine was so delicious and crisp especially since it's served chilled. Each tasting just got better and better! All of the wines were so yummy and it was impossible to just have one favorite. Our top 2 were Royal Raspberry and Winter Pear. We bought a bottle of Winter Pear. This wine is really crisp and fruity. You really can taste the sweetness of the pear. Jennifer changes up the wine tasting list every two weeks or so, so it's constantly changing depending on the season. If you get the chance try winter pear, it's a must.

Regardless of when you come, I'm positive you'll have a great experience! With great wine comes great memories. Boyfriend and I had a wonderful time and can't wait to come back and visit very soon!

Very friendly wine tasting experience and wonderfully sweet wines. Definitely worth checking out if you like sweet wines or want to try something different from most other wineries.

Excellent service, fruit wines, and they even have mead on occasion! We signed up for their wine club and we are so excited to get our boxes.

The best tasting room in the town. Great staff that are so nice and they take the time to talk to its patrons. I will be going back again soon to refill my bar with more of their wonderful wines.

Favorite winery and nicest people work there. Great fruit wines and they are great with mixing different flavors of wines to come up different drinks

Best place to go to if you are looking for sweet wine! And the town is just gorgeous! Always a nice get away.

We are wine members here. It is seriously the best wine. Especially if you love dessert wine. They also carry dry wines but there specialty is dessert wine. Which are amazing.

Best place for wine tasting.especially if you love your sweet and desert wines. They have several to choose from. Brian and Jennifer helped us and they were both amazing. Looooooved this place again and again. Been here several times and was so glad to find them again after they moved locations.

Best wine ever! If you know me, you know I love sweet wine. One of the great things about Royal Oaks is they have dry wines, too, for my friends who don't share a sweet tooth with me. I joined the wine club and can take friends for free tastings. Hit me up, I'll take you there.

I have been a wine club member for nearly two years and absolutely love the wine and the staff. One previous reviewer mentioned there were no dry wines; there are dry wines and there are sweet wines. The dry wines include a wonderful Merlot as well as other various wines. The sweet wines are sweet but they are not dessert wines; more like fruit. Both are very delicious, in my opinion, but certainly different from each other. I appreciate all of the staff members and their hard work as they juggle completing orders and assisting customers with tasting. They make it look flawless. I always enjoy my time spent with the staff at the Royal Oaks Tasting room and especially Jennifer's wonderful knowledge of the wines as well as sparkling personality. She is always quick to answer any questions I have and ensures that her information is correct. I will certainly be back and love to bring my friends and family for a wonderful time with delicious wine and enjoyable conversation with the Royal Oaks staff.

Love this winery. Been coming here for years. They moved again, 3rd time in my time so I hope they are happy with the new spot. Great wine selection, decently priced. Friendly service too. Come check em out

For it being our first time there it was truly a pleasure. The staff was beyond attentive, sweet and made us feel at home. We havent stopped talking about it that we wouldnt even mind making the 3hr drive just to visit again. Truly a must when in Solvang. No one will regret the trip.

One star for poor business ethics. Note: Sweet wines only! This is not a bad thing if you like sweet wines. I personally disclosed that no one in our party of seven liked sweet wines. The wine hostess pictured on the far right in the black shirt with short blonde hair was very personable but assured us that the dry tasting was dry. It was sweet. She tried to tell us that each one would be sweet initially but to retaste and it would be dry on the second taste. At the end, she said she did not even like sweet wines, but not to tell as she proceded to charge us for our tastings. I have nothing against sweet wines. I just don’t drink them. I bought a bottle for my sister-in-law as a thank you gift, but don’t lie to people that ask you as direct question. 80% of a wine tasting is your host. I won’t recommend even for sweet wine tasters. No one should be swindled.

This place was the best place we have found for wine tasting. The owners were absolutely fabulous and the wine was out of this world. They catered to our wine tates and we joined their wine club because their wines were absolutely wonderful. The atmosphere there was extremely friendly light and welcoming unlike other wineries we have gone to. I would highly recommend this place as one of the best wine tasting places we have gone to in California. Thanks so much for an absolutely wonderful time!
