Grocery Store Safeway reviews
14This Safeway has a bit more upper class feeling. Walk in wine and beer fridge. Seems a few items I have not seen at other Safeways. I'm not sure if the doughnuts are special. But I have not seen this at other locations. But then again this is the only Safeway I stop at that has a bakery
The Alamo Safeway is one of the best in the area. The people are fantastic and so helpful. Great selections overall.
This Safeway is the worst. They hardly have much variety of supply. It's convenient because it's close to my home but it has to improve. Alamo Safeway is the best ever. So, we have to go there most of the time.
Past 3 times I purchased a slice of cake it was awful. It was like they didn’t mix the cake long enough. The bread is old. You really have to watch the expired dates There is absolutely no deli service. You are forced to buy the prepackaged meats that are too much for one person. Onions are old and moldy. So much of the food I throw away. I’m looking for grocery store alternatives. Safeway has become an expensive Bevmo
Another disappointing experience at this store.
I used lottery device to buy a ticket but the device was broken and gave me a refund slip which is fine. This was around 5am.
I went to the cashier and ask them for a refund, they said they cannot give that to me. I asked for the manager, the manager said they are not trained on that device and I need to come back later. The problem was the refund slip was only valid the same day at the same store and I couldn't come back that day.
The manager told me to call the corporate. I did call them and they said they will ask the store manager to call me back, but the call would not happen that day while the refund slip still valid and they cannot do anything about it.
I would really want to see a change at this store, not another mindless reply to this comment. The store should not operate any device if the staff is not trained on it. They can simply turn it off during the shifts that they do not have a trained staff.
To the corporate, please do not reply, you have my name and the complain and please do something about it other that apologies or commenting back here.just fix this store.
Well second time I have been told by the service behind the deli counter that they would not slice me lunch meat the way I would like it. I had to buy the pre sliced meats that they cut in the morning. I do not like that it is cut to thick for me and my family. They were not busy either I was so taken back that I just said I don't want anything then and walk away she said nothing just let me go with no meat WOW well I can't believe that would be Safeways policy. I have been shopping at Safeway in Alamo 50 years and have been very disappointed with improvements, seems like they really want you to buy liquor. Pricing has gone up a lot fancy items which had made everything else go up. I just don't know what to say I guess I am getting older and just need to get with the times people would say. Trader Joe's, Sprouts, Target here I come.
Was shopping late night and a cashier called jody was rude. It feels like she either does not like to work here or does not like to server people that look different. I hope someone gives a proper training to her.
This used to be my favorite grocery store. Why? Because the shelves were always stocked, the lines were rarely long, even on the busiest of days and everyone was always so friendly, especially the customers. I also liked it because of the store layout and the elegant design - if that’s possible in a grocery store. I’ve certainly been in stores with better design (think Roseaurs) but for a California store, this one was great.
So what happened? Some designer came in and totally ruined the place. The colors are comically bad, the flooring is awful and all of the charm is stripped out of the place. It feels like you are in 1971 Kansas. Wide, ugly and barren.
I should say the shelves are still stocked and people are friendly so that part is still good but I found myself so angered by the horrendous remodel that I’m having a hard time keeping my rating up to a four.
Safeway screwed this up as badly as Chris Bangle mucked up the 2004 BMW 5 series.
Beautiful remodel with a new and extensive beer and wine selection. The rest of the store is standard Safeway.
I like the upgrades that all the Safeways have done. Cute touch the way they named the isles local street names
Sale on brisket you haven’t had for over a week. Overcharged $4 on beer. Too long to wait for refubd
Great sorts of products and at a great prices. Love to shop here for it is wide and clean. Well organized.
The Alamo Safeway has been in the process of remodeling however also rearranged all products making it extremely hard to find items
I do a lot of shopping at Safeway. But I do have to say the new app is NOT friendly or easy to navigate around inside the app. Compared to the previous version or for that matter, compared to any app. If it weren't for the convenience of the many stores, I wouldn't go there because of the new app. There are other grocery stores out there with much better prices.
