Saigon Star Restaurant reviews
19 The place is clean, staff is always nice and the food is tasty. Like all places these days staff isn’t big but we’ve never had to wait a long time for our food.
All their beef pho is delicious (they do the broth right)! We usually get some char grilled pork spring rolls that are amazing.
My wife got very sick after eating the orange chicken. A few hours after eating here she was up vomiting all night long. If a restaurant followed prescribed cleaning procedures this wouldn’t happen.
Dry meat, old meat, watered down rice. Definitely skip this place. I paid $25 for orange chicken, a cup of rice and 2 spring rolls. There was no one in the reataraunt and I still waited after ordering 20 mins before. Don’t waste your money!
Best pho place in San Diego (so far)! It's always good quality food, the people are always friendly, there's lots of parking.
We ended up coming here on a Friday night because everywhere else was too busy. The atmosphere in here is kind of sad and the service is kind of weird and slow. The food is your standard Vietnamese pho restaurant food, nothing really spectacular about anything that we ordered. The fish sauce chicken wings were decent even though they were mostly breading.
Fried rice is so dry, the shrimp and the chicken and every ounce of rice as well. It’s hard to not make the fried rice right. The chicken noodle soup was blend and the chicken was sooo dry too.
The chicken didn’t have much flavor. The egg rolls were bland. It was okay. Nothing to rave over. I can’t say I won’t come back to try something else. The portions are a nice size. I feel like the Vermicelli Chicken & Egg Roll bowl could have more cucumbers. Only a tiny amount and sliced extremely thin. I feel like I only got the peel. No cucumber meat. There was no cilantro or mint or basil offered either. That’s a staple at Vietnamese restaurants.
It was a chilly evening and the AC was going. I could hear other tables say they were cold too. Clean tables. I would see them spray down each one as tables changed out. Staff was okay. They don’t interact much.
I've been here before and the food was okay. This time I paid for old lettuce and funny smelling shrimp. Took a bite and had to spit it back out. I would've drove back across town to show them but I didn't have the energy. I took a pic of dish as well and I'm going to send it to them. Lesson learned. I will never go back there.
Food was delicious. Came for lunch on my work break and ended up getting two items. The grilled pork spring roll was but I'd maybe ask for extra crispy pork. I could have honestly just had the spring rolls as they were plenty filling and I could have saved some cash.
I did also order a chicken sandwich. It was also very good and had a unique seasoning/flavor that I'd definitely get again. I'm taking half home for another meal and will definitely come back again. The service was also prompt and friendly. Well done all around.
This place used to be good. Food and service I have never had an employee hang up on me heel and tell me they don’t care if I return because they completely made order wrong. I spent $60.00 for my wife and I take out dinner mind you I drove 20mins just to go there with literally 50 pho places I pasted just to go here. I went I. To pick up order I asked 4-5 times to please read me back order finally he did. I asked him to check and make sure it was made how my wife asked i again 20 mins away. He assured me yes yes all good. I get home an really not made how it was ordered my wif and kids food I call rude lady it’s not my fault I didn’t cook it…. You took order your job to make sure it’s correct they blamed the cooks. I explained I live 20 mins away why do I have to drive back an I asked them to bring nope to busy mind you 30 mins ago I was there and 2 people sitting eating. So I ask who’s paying for my gas I drive a v8 truck.they said no your saying I have to waste gas my time which are both expensive to go get the food your company sent out out finished gf so I asked for a refund manager is not there of course well I’m requesting a refund if I’m driving back there so I can replace wasted gas. Nope then says if I go there she’s will calll the cops an hangs up on me. Wow never has that happened so I call back again ask for manager says no hangs up an blocks my wife’s number. Ruined my family’s dinner. Still haven’t heard from manager
Love their rib eye steak sandwich, pho was salty, I will definitely return for another sandwich
Let's say I have had better fried rice
The texture of the fried rice is too moist and you don't get that smokey burned wok smell too it. 6.5 out of 10 for there fried rice. Nothing special about this house special fried rice
The food is very good, they close at 9: 00pm so try to get there around 7: 30pm so you can enjoy your meal because at 8: 30 they will put the chairs on top of the other tables even if you havent finish your dinner
Been away for 2 1/2 years, but still great food. Hot &Sour soup is unique an delicious
We ordered the Salt and pepper Calamari, which came out soggy and chewy, had the combo Pho which was very blan (like a watered down bone broth) special stir fry was also blan and had no flavor, didn't come with any extra sauce to add! Curry was not flavorful as well. Only decent thing we're the egg rolls, I did like the dipping sauce it came with. Sadly disappointed, I would recommend going to Pho Express accross the street or one of the many on El Cajon Blvd.
The owner of this place is the definition of greedy. After completely messing up an uber eats order i didnt even get a slight discount on my next order. ALSO, on my next order he wouldnt even give me 2 extra packets of siracha or pour some from a bottle after paying $12 for a plate of rice. This place has lost my business.absolutely horrible experience.
I’ve been coming here for a few years and this place has been consistently accurate, fast, & high quality. I get the rare steak pho and they make it perfect every time. Being able to have relied on this place since I was 18 makes San Diego feel like a home.
Love the food there! The elder male there is the best! Some of the youngsters serving may at times lack some customer service skills but the elder male is a sweetheart and displays excellent customer service always. Everything on menu is delicious and their fresh young coconuts. Wow!
The staff is so kind. Today I had my sleeping baby and my toddler in my car. I ordered food over the phone and they came out to my car, picked up my credit card, rang up my card, then brought it out to me along with my food.
They understood that I needed some extra help and were so gracious about it. Not to mention, the food is so delicious! When I was newly pregnant, this was the only restaurant where I could eat because the food tastes so nutritious and soothing. This is one of my favorite restaurants in San Diego.
