Samurai Sushi, Rancho Cordova CA

Surprisingly good food, confused vibe.

Ordered the lunch special as I couldn't think enough to make decisions. It was chicken teriyaki, white rice, miso soup, orange slices, vegetable tempura, and some tuna. Food was surprisingly delicious, really good. Came out at a reasonable time - not fast enough to be suspicious, not too long. I took half of it home as it was a lot for one person.
They opened at 11: 30 and I was the second person there at 11: 50 on a weekday. I think it's mostly the nearby hotel patrons that visit. Service friendly and fast, vibes relaxed, ~6 large TVs playing. The place seems a bit confused on its identity - maybe it used to be a steakhouse or IHOP or something. The plants are a bit sad, the entry sign old and faded. It feels like you'd want to order the Western omelet and coffee. The music was a radio station playing Foo Fighters, Linkin Park type stuff, which I was bobbing to but it was odd. The bathrooms are a lil rough and have no towels, only the dryer. I did appreciate the bamboo outside to help shade and block from the big road but it needs a bit of TLC.

Used to be very good place to bring your family and friends, however the owner (female) is rude and always argued with customers. We placed 2 order of saba makeral grill and for some reason she only place 1 order. Knowing that she made a mistakes, she suggested a different dish which I am not familiar with, and convinced me that dish is so good and everybody loves it. I said I will try first sample and if I like it and I will order the dish. Unfortunately the soup is too strong flavor for me and decided not to proceed. When I got the check, I noticed that she charged me with the dish that I decided not to order and she keeps insisting that I order the food. Feeling disappointed and we head home. My wife decided to research Samurai Sushi review in Yelp and noticed that this very similar issue happened to other customer not long time ago. From my honest opinion, I hate to give a bad review but if the business owners attitude is bad and not honoring the customer needs then I certainly not recommending this restaurant anymore. I will give 0 rating if possible. Please avoid this restaurant if you don't want to be disappointed. Mikuni at Hazel Ave is much better quality and choice if you are hungry for good quality sushi and respectful people.

Been coming here for years, through all of the ownership and stylistic changes. Still pretty good, but definitely a shadow of its former self.

Almost always pretty empty, fish does not seem quite as fresh, service is still good.

The bathroom might as well be at a truck stop. Dirty, no paper towels, a hand pump of soft soap from the grocery store. Little scratched in notes all over the place.

Hope they bounce back!

Order was ready quick. Everything was fresh and prepared well.
It is a great place to dine in or for takeout.

Samurai Sushi is a great Japanese restaurant in Rancho Cordova. The service is excellent. While he forgot about a dish I ordered once it was brought to his attention he immediately apologized and rectified the situation.
The food itself looks almost too pretty to eat but its delicious once you do. They have a decent sushi list but not as expansive as other restaurants.

Small portions, high prices and a rude hostess. She told me I couldn't have a fork and chop sticks so I had to choose. The teriyaki was ok but not worth the $20 price tag. The hostess was just simply rude so I will definitely not be spending anymore money in there

Sushi always really good especially hwy 50 and C webb rolls. I like how they re did there booths so it's not as crowded

Food was very good, serving size was appropriate.
Atmosphere was a little noisy but acceptable.

I loved the combination of peanut sauce with several of their offerings. Everything was terrific! The staff were very friendly and attentive.

Per the name, you should get sushi here. Based on my standards, the sushi here is a tad expensive per roll but overall there is good flavor. The sashimi tasted fresh. The specialty rolls had amazing presentation that wasn't too pretentious. The waiter was a great help and gave us great suggestions. Highly recommend coming in a group to get a wide variety of rolls.

The place was nice, very big but not a lot of people there at the time. The food took a long time and we both ordered the lunch special so it shouldn't have, especially when people came in after us got served before us, but our waitress was hiding so this other guy helped us out. All in all it was good and we will probably go again.

The neon lights in here are always so cool. The servers are very kind and professional. The sushi is always so fresh and delicious. Bathrooms are nice and clean.

This place had very cold sushi which I greatly appreciated. The food was excellent with well portioned food. Their rolls I had were delicious and my wife really enjoyed her Hamachi Kama

One of the best in the area. Creative and delicious. Only issue was a little too salty for my taste this time
