If I can rate them less than one star I will be very happy. I had the worst experience in this hospital, which made me have trauma. I gave birth to my first child in this hospital, and because of them, it will be the last. It was a nightmare and painful and humiliating experience, It was started from the nurse responsible for admitting patients (was very aggressive while i was having labor pain) to the operator in the ICU and the dr who's did the surgery for me
I planned to have normal delivery but because of The negligence of the nurses and my OBGyn doctor it's turned into a caesarean (a nurse grabs her phone and then does an internal examination for me without sterilization then i got bacteria infection and infected my baby and he went to NICU And she made me sleep on the bed while I felt the pain of labor without helping me to increase Pelvic widening، she didn't even make me walk or use any tools to accelerate the expansion of the pelvis.they just use it when i start contractions amd ready to push.and the doctor who advises me to take a needle that affected my child’s pulse and negatively affected me, and he mocks me in the operating room and makes me feel insulted when the was preparing me for the c section As they undressing me from the bottom without covering my sensitive area, and when I asked to cover it, they ignored me. And the doctors there they don't understand anything about medicine. As for the operator in the ICU department she was so rude, I called her to call the nurse to me several times and i waited for hours, and I was in severe pain and screamed from the pain, and she in turn did not informed the nurses more than once and luckily i found advil pills that my husband had forgotten and i take from them to relieve my pain.and because of the way they treated me I left the hospital the next day and noted i was not fully recover. Also, their racism, as a nurse assistant asked me about my religion, whether I am a Muslim or not, and I felt insulted, as I felt that providing their services was constructive. On my religion, knowing that I am a Christian, and finally the department of prematurity, which was responsible for my child, and I found his diaper full of urine and my child’s voice was hoarse from crying a lot due to the nurses’ negligence of the children.
Truly the worst experience ever and they charged me more than 100 k for what i don't know, and i just discovered my hemoglobin in my blood was 12.9 and after surgery it's become to 8
. Iam shocked

Try to go somewhere else! Went there last week and never saw a doctor. I saw a nurse who was very nice. But they diagnosed and sent me home told me it will pass. Next day got worse and went to Loma Linda and glad I did, I would have died. I know doctors are not perfect so they could missed something.but I NEVER got to see a doctor at San Antonio and I have insurance! Very sad San Antonio!

Do not go to San Antonio hospital if you need care. “The council” will throw you out if you spend to much time claiming you use hospital as hotel. Social care manager only interested In getting paid and and told us that medi-cal won’t pay so transfer you out to nursing facility and die after transfer. My brother was in and out of hospital since August, 2022 and should have not been discharged as he was not completely well. His last discharge ended in death two months later. Their only concern is getting paid and push patients out since they need the bed. A doctor called me by mistake and started talking about how there was nothing left to help my brother and he needs to be discharged. He wasn’t even aware he dialed the wrong number! Some of the nurses are good but not all. Find another hospital as they do not cate. If I could rate a zero I would.

They got a 2 star for a reason.i had baby several month ago and it was horrible. First the doctor from care for women dr Toni vu on call was sleeping while my baby was out.the nurse went there twice to wake her up but failed until the head nurse said she would drag her out of bed.the nurse was so nervous because the baby's head already out then finally the doctor showed up with decent hair or maybe wearing little makeup.secondly the anesthetist overdose me causing me still feel numb under chest after 18 hours of delivery. That asian guy was rude to me. I am not sure whether he did this on purpose.
Thirdly there was on nurse who took care of me after delivery was so ruthless. I was still numb and she told me the baby needed a diaper change. I asked whether she could help me she said I know it is hard but I still have other patient.
Don't go there if you have another choice.

I took my husband and he left worse. He has been treated in 3 occasions and they went to bad to worse. They create illness or make them worse there are no reliable doctors stay away they just care about the money how much they can get from your insurances.

The worst wait time! My toddler is very sick and hasn’t been able to eat or drink anything because we are waiting for labs to be done. They don’t mention anything once the labs are done. No one knows anything when you ask them a question.

Came in checking on my baby, and the RN in L&D her name was Ashley or Alyssa can’t remember but she was AMAZING (this was during Night Shift.) Very nice and friendly because of her I want to deliver my baby here when it becomes time. However, checking in with the emergency department initially-they are not friendly at all and very rude. I’d only come back to deliver my baby here but not to be seen for anything else.

Worst waiting time in emergency. They just ask you to wait for hours and forget. They should improve their service for the patients. Extremely painful wait for hours when you get in for emergency treatment.
How can you call some place emergency room if you have to wait for hours 5 or 6 before a doctor even looks at you?
If possible i will not even give them a single star because they do not deserve one.

Arrived at 11am had all test done by 2pm and was told I would be kept over night it is now 9: 30 pm and I am still in the waiting room. Told I am not allowed to eat or drink. I am a diabetic that had a stroke and have a bad back that I am getting special shot for my pain. I am in so much hunger and pain and no one cares. My husband and I have taken turns to find out when will I be put in a bed. We are both senior citizens and ignored completely. It's 9: 45pm and my husband and I have had enough. The nurse at front desk said they were keeping an eye on us and leaving was against Drs orders. If they kept an eye on us why did no one ask us how we were doing. We asked them about our status. First thing we did after leaving was.get something to eat and take our meds.

I dont see why they always have to dope up people with morphine. Everytime my father goes to this hospital they over due it with the morphine. To the point hes only moving hes head and not being physically or verbally mobile. I have over heard patients tell them not to give them to much morphine because of previous hospital visits. If someone's pain isnt that high why over do it with the morphine. Especially when i talk to my father on the phone sounds completely fine and out no where doped up.

This is solely for the head people at ACU. The nurses all deserve raises. Kind, caring and compassionate. The hospital itself, always top notch service (and I have had my share of visits since age 11, as well as my son)
Today I, T1 diabetic, was to arrive by 8: 30a, having nothing to eat after midnight yesterday. I suspected check-in, wait, surgery, recovery, discharge.the latest I would be out was noon, 1pm tops. I found out at 11a that my procedure was SCHEDULED for 2: 30p! Why am I showing up at 8: 30a and expected to sit for 4.5 hours?
To top it off, surgeon was behind due to an emergency surgery (understandable). So guess when this T1 diabetic, having not eaten since 10pm the day before, got into the procedure? After 6pm! That is ludicrous! That is not patient care.
Thank GOD for the wonderful caring staff and nurses to ease my nerves for 7 hours! You deserve huge raises. If I ever have another surgery planned at the ACU, I will do everything in my power to go elsewhere.

I was very disappointed in the San Antonio Hospital that I have known for many years. I'm 69 yrs old and had my 1st child there in 1976. I had many different types of surgeries through the years. So I am extremely familiar with this hospital. Both my parents went to this hospital more times than I can remember. I used to feel that we were all in the best of care. Even the caring of the staff has gone downhill. The food used to be pretty decent and now, when I was hospitalized last week the food was so terrible that I couldn't even eat it. Seriously whoever is running the hospital now should be fired!

Irresponsible doctors and staff. My Father was brought in to ER. He was then taken to ICU. He was treated here for approximately one week. The nurses kept giving my Father very strong medication. He was hallucinating, in tears letting me know they kept drugging him. I looked up the medications and sure enough. It was two different medications that caused, anxiety, hallucinating, and depression. Not only were they giving him medication. They were also tyeng my father to the bed. My Father was not able to communicate with me after that. The physician decided to release him stating, he was fine to be released. My Dad came home for 3 days before I had to call 911 once again. He was hospitalized with two pneumonias, with a really bad blood Infection, Malnourished and dehydrated. My Father passed away last week. He would still be here if it wasn't for this irresponsible hospital. They have lost touch with humanity.

My mother 82 yrs old brought in by 911 due to chest pain, and shortness of breath. Diagnosed with pneumonia and acute urinary tract infection that progressed into the bloodstream. In the hospital for only 3 days, cardiac and diabetic patient, discharged from the hospital stable according to Liu, Hsin Chen D. O. My mother is now at home on continuous oxygen, coughing her lungs out, on antibiotics, with a lot of sputum coming out but pneumonia is better according to him, and the urinary tract infection which went to blood already is treated with the same antibiotic as pneumonia. So, according to him well covered. Being a Registered Nurse I am taking the care for my mother into my own hands. I am pursuing an investigation of the care that my mother received under this doctor, by filing grievance to Insurance, Medical Board, Patients Rights. Let’s see Dr. Liu how can explain that you discharge the patient due to the fact that the patient is not meeting the criteria for inpatient hospitalization, even though the patient states she is not feeling well. Your answer is that she is old and will take time to recover, and the hospital is not the best place for her to be. You are right, maybe the cemetery is the best place for her, under your care for sure, and you started by discharging a patient who was not ready, initially prescribing a medication that might interfere with another one that my mom was on causing fatal arrhythmia. The pharmacy tried to contact you, but of course you were too busy. Dr. Liu do yourself a favor! Stay away of patients! You really do not care! Before discharging my mother, you were just going into the room, said hello, you are ok, left the room and bye bye. Not using the interpreter line to explain to the patient why she’s discharged, what’s your treatment plan. You talked to the family member but you have a responsibility for the patient. I was in the hospital room till 8 pm, I asked to talk to you again. You never called back, and you just brushed me off! My complaint to medical board is filed, and I will advocate for my mother! You are the worst doctor I interacted with in my 18 yrs of being a nurse. You graduated 3 years ago, and I highly doubted your competence as a physician. Unfortunately, this hospital hired you, and you make some money out of other people lack of medical knowledge for sure. Sad but true!

Went to the ER at 12: 30 am because I had a hard time breathing (oxygen was 77) and brought my tank with me. I sat there for 7 hours in between getting blood work and X-rays. Watched as people walked around without masks even after being told by the guard and the three women at the desk numerous times to put them on or they can wait outside. They never enforced it. The only time I went to the back was to hear what the doctor said which was about five minutes. Care was much better when I took my parents back in 2010 before the new emergency room.

SARH has come a long way from what it used to be. A majority of the hospital has been remodeled and is much easier on the eyes now. I’ve visited this hospital a couple times in the past year or so, and even had my appendix removed by them. The ER was fast and efficient (unlike Kaiser). The staff was great as well. My only complaint would be how long it took a surgeon to perform the operation, roughly 8-10 hours.
