6I was looking for property ownership information and could not access it through either the records or the assessor's office.
I called the number listed on google for the SD County Tax Assessor's office. After waiting almost 16 mins, I was told I called the Wedding whatever office. She said I misread the number! She gave me the correct number. I called. Waited another 29 minutes. The woman answering told me she would have to connect me to the Assessor's office because I called the wrong number. Then she hung up on me. It's amazing how private businesses are able to keep on operating more-or-less efficiently, but our snowflake government workers have to be protected much more than the public. I am so angry and frustrated I have steam coming out of my ears. This is absolutely disgusting!
They say they are open online, you call just a pre-recorded message no live person to talk too & had to drive to the office and it's CLOSED just paperwork posted as old as April 2020 NO HELP
Couldn't explain to me how we'd know we owed a niche tax, yet insisted we pay late fees and interest on the missed bill years later when it finally showed up. Not to mention their method for assessing the property value is deeply flawed. Vote these bureaucrats out.
I found the person that I talked to be helpful, knowledgeable and friendly.
Everything was great. New location, new building, live ladies to direct where to go, proficient, pleasant helpful clerk.
