SDGE may as well be the mob. They extort you out of money, constantly hike prices with no justification, run town hall meetings where they ignore everything that's said and raise prices anyway, and then when they mess up and have a service outage it's always an "oopsie" and never a reduced rate for the time lost.

I only use SDGE because I literally have no other choices since they've made a deal with the government and have no competitors so they can do what they want. This review will make no difference. They will still profit off of us and there's nothing we can do about it.

Follow the money on this one. SDGE is making massive profits at expense of customers. They continue to increase rates even though we have the highest IN THE ENTIRE COUNTRY. Yet somehow with fires, SDGE passes the costs on to the customer? Even though it was their fault? Where is the money going? How can you charge exorbitant amounts and pass things along to the customer? Your stupid emails about tips on 'reducing your thermostat' are lame and so unattached from reality.

9 hour planned power outage with no prior notification. Plus 3 more hours because they couldn't finish on time. That's the typical SDG&E experience for you.

SDG&E electric rates – now the highest in the United States at $0.45 per kilowatt hour (standard tier 1 residential rate - tier 2 jumps to $0.56). Yes, that is higher than the electric rates in Hawaii – an island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. To put that into perspective for those that do not understand kilowatt hours (you do not need to, I will give you an easy example) – the average cost for household electricity in the United States is $0.16 per kilowatt hour – so here in San Diego you are paying 2.8 time more than the average household in the US. So, to use a car example – if the rest of the US was paying $33,000 for a Toyota Camry – you would be paying $92,400.00 for that same Toyota Camry here in San Diego. This story gets even more discouraging when you look up how much SDG&E Executives get paid. The top guy at SDG&E in 2020 – (Sempra Energy) CEO Jeffrey W. Martin – had total earnings for that year of $23 Million dollars – that’s Millions with a capital “M”. The CEO of just SDG&E - Caroline Winn – made an estimated $10 Million dollars (and there are many more executives making over a Million dollars per year). Maybe if you were making this much, your electric bill would not seem so expensive?

I can share in the frustration with the "cost to keep the lights on" but that being said, the lights are on 99.9% of the time. Very reliable infrastructure. They also spend big money to fire harden their system and offer alternative energy delivery. Also investing in the future of electric vehicle and battery storage to prepare for the future electric needs. In 10 years when this state forces us all to go electric, I feel we can count on SDGE to continue it's reliability.

Absolute worse experience with this company, 4 months I have been dealing with an issue so small it should've been fixed immediately and easily. The customer service is trash and service is terrible.

Rates are sky-high and service is terrible, meanwhile executives are bringing home hundreds of millions in profits.

Their overpaid lobbyists and Governor Newsom-appointed public utilities, commission members together are bound and determined to screw the homeowners that purchased solar systems.
New AB 205, the so-called energy bill, and the SDGE proposal creates 4 tiers of electric billing, based upon your personal annual income, and allows unlimited electricity use. It makes homeowners with solar systems pay twice, once on the loan for their solar system and the second for some fixed rate billing and unlimited electricity use that they don’t need or want, as they installed a home, solar system, in good faith, thinking they were helping everyone harness, renewable, clean energy.

Sempra and it's subsidiary SDG&E are bleeding the region dry so that their executives and shareholders can become filthy rich. They are now proposing what's essentially a monthly income tax on every single customer, who by the way has ZERO choice whether to use their service or not, so they can further line their pockets. This tax will be on top of the charge of whatever power used that month so it's not like customers will get some free power thrown in for their hard-earned cash. Whatever government officials colluded with these crooks and gave them a monopoly on the region's power should be thrown in jail.

So disappointed to the raise of gas & electricity. I have no words to describe the worst thoughts for this company. Unfortunately, we have lo option. They become more rich without care about the low income people.

Price gouging aside, my usage reports have not even come close to my actual usage for the past year. I've called SDGE several times about their monitoring being incorrect, and they couldn't care less. I've been getting charged hundreds of dollars a month more than I should be, and nothing has yet to be done.
