I found some birds yesterday that they were very unique and they are probably one to two weeks from flying on their own and those birds were woodpeckers so the Escondido Humane Society on East Valley Parkway behind the dog playground were the only people that would accept them that was very nice of them because I really wanted these birds to survive so definitely shout out for them and thank you I tried to call everyone else that would accept animals and they claim that they rehab animals none of them answered the phone and the ones that answered the phone did not offer to take care of them and turn me away so I recommend them next time when you have a wild animal that needs to be saved

We found a hummingbird with a broken wing and took it to be helped there. Do not be indifferent, because we can save someone's life.

My intent was to go in and rescue a little 2 year old boy for my 2 year old girl kitten and I turned the corner to where the felines were and the first cage to the right eye level was a card that read I am afraid I am shy I don't talk if you want to see me ask one of the employees to get me and bring me to you.she was 7 years old Twenty One pounds nobody wanted her.
I sighed out loud and I said "poor baby" and ran out of her little hold came right up to the perimeter of the cage pushed her pelt through the cage to touch my hand and then rolled over on her back. Cats hardly get on their back and expose their intestines unless they completely trust you and that was a full-on, will you please pick me and please take me home with you. I did.

The staff was very kind and informative. Got the right animal and was in and out in no time at all. Go check it out. There's an animal waiting to be adopted.

It’s difficult to adopt from the Humane Society. They make the adopter jump through so many hoops and undergo over-the-top scrutiny. I went there recently to adopt a guinea pig so that the one I had wouldn’t be lonely. I had to pass an interview but was still denied because they wanted me to take a senior piggy and I wanted a young one (there were two available). In frustration I left, went to Petco, and bought one. Won’t bother going back when I want a dog.

The Escondido foster team, Kai and Jessie are so amazing. I signed up to foster animals, and they are so nice and helpful. The main thing is that if you send them an e-mail, they respond within minutes, a few times I got a response in under 1 minute. They are always giving suggestions and helpful tips for the animal I am fostering. If anyone wants to be a foster, please sign up, they need people to foster animals, and they give you any supplies you need and the experience is rewarding.

Got my dog neutered here recently. They did a good job with the surgery, however, the front desk here was terrible. Got there at 9: 30 am for check in (which was explained in the email prior to appointment) there was no one there to check me in so I asked one of the workers there and she said “usually staff gets here at 10, but I’ll let someone know you’re here. 10: 00 rolls around and I go in. Front desk is literally staring at me and finally asks what my service was for. I let them know I’m here for a neutering appointment at 9: 30. They’re like “oh you could’ve checked in earlier”, I said “yeah I stood outside waiting, but no one came to the door”. Then they had a little issue with who was in charge of checking in spay and neuter that day. The lady that checked me in didn’t even know what she was doing. My husband came to pick up our dog and did not get greeted until after 5 mins standing there, mind you another guy walked in shortly after and was greeted immediately. Very unprofessional, poor communication, and poor customer service. We reached out to San Diego Humane to have this matter escalated to management. Will not return to this location for any further service.

I really want to give 5 stars to all of the staff there because everyone was so friendly, but mainly I want to give a shout out to Manny. I came there to look at a dog I saw online and by the time I got there he was already adopted. I wasn’t really looking at any other dogs in particular but was shown the way to look at the other dogs available. Manny was EXTREMELY patient and kind to answer all of my questions and concerns. Luckily for me there was no one else waiting to speak to a counselor so he gave me a lot of his time. I ended up adopting Nicholas Devereaux and he is the sweetest most kind boy. I am a first time solo dog mom and this was an easy transition into this life thanks to Manny.

The staff are all so friendly and kind, they make sure you have so many resources and that the animal is a good fit for your family. The animals are clearly cared about, and the staff were knowledgeable about all of the animals we asked about and their personality. I loved this experience, and I think it's obvious they love their work and are passionate about it. Thank you so much, you guys!

They have a stray cat Trap-fix-release program that they call a "community cat program" it is very convenient to use and I suggest it to anyone with strays in their yard.

Also used SDHS (different campus though) to adopt our family pets and we have always ended up with the best pets in the world!

Came here with my husband interested in a dog. We asked to meet a specific one and was questioned by staff as to why we were interested, and continued to give reasons to not bring out dog. Left as staff member was insensitive. Hope the dog eventually meets a family and is given a chance.
