SDOT has helped my child with autism and impulsivity better than any other therapy to this point. Helped with a lot of his sensory issues as well as giving him a language for social and emotional conflicts - labeling his feelings and processing appropriate or expected responses in the moment of upset. That was a big turn around for us - they actually create scenarios where they challenge the child with an activity that requires compromise or causes a low level of upset in some way so they can coach the child through that emotion in the moment, rather than talking about coping strategies after a conflict (which is what other therapies did and did not work). Working with him in the moment through the emotion helped give practical and lasting transformation of responses to hard things and helped start making those pathways in the brain so he was capable of doing those things at home. We are very grateful for the progress our son has made at SDOT.

My daughter has been a patient at SDOT for over a year! We loved our eval with Dr. Stephanie Drummond to address my daughter's feeding/speech issues resulting from her oral ties. We were referred to SDOT by our pediatric dentist, CST, lactation consultant, and the Regional Ctr! Dr. Drummond did an amazing evaluation and we continued our care with Miss Sara then later Miss Alanna then Miss Sarah (and her trainee Miss Sara). My daughter has loved all the fun ways all her specialists have engaged with her. They come up with fun songs, creative ways to eat, and out of the box activities to help my daughter reach milestones and tips for me as a parent on what I can do at home to help best support my daughter! Also, the ladies who help you schedule especially Miss Jenni are always so sweet! We miss having a waiting room since their interactions were always the best, but we love chatting with them on the phone. Everyone at SDOT is fantastic!

Jeni and Ashlee were lightening fast with their response to my inquiry and questions and had my son set up for an assessment within a week. I called 3 other OT offices and still haven't heard back. They are consummate professionals who operate that business with the utmost compassion and expertise. You couldn’t imagine a better place to take yourself, a loved one, or your child needing occupational therapy. San Diegans hit the jackpot with this extraordinary OT company.

I'm so happy we found this gem in San Diego! The occupational therapists are extremely knowledgable and patient with my son. I appreciate how they are able to take technical concepts and break them down to teach parents what they're seeing and how they can best support their child. The amount of detail you get after the first assessment is beyond what is expected and shows how much they customize your child's plan to fit their needs. They stay up-to-date with the latest research and have a solid network of professionals they can refer you to for other concerns. If you're on the fence about occupational therapy I say GO FOR IT! The worst that could happen is they find nothing is wrong, but even then you'll still walk away knowing more about your child and their unique needs than before you came in. Definitely check out this location as they're some of the best!

I had no idea how occupational therapy even worked for kids, let alone what a sensory modulation disorder was. SDOT has made such an impact on my son's social skills and ability to work and focus at school. There is still work to be done, but they have been amazing thus far and have been so attentive to weekly updates/needs/adjustments. We are so thankful for our SDOT team!

Family is not always blood and San Diego Occupational Therapy has become true family to us. Being military and with Tricare we move around a lot and it is hard to find the home environment for our children to feel safe and it was a huge relief to find it here!
We have been coming her a little less than two years and within this time frame they have loved, listened, supported, watched and helped both of my children grow into the amazing little humans they are today but also the family we are today. My son started attending at 3 months old with Sarah G when his tongue suddenly stopped functioning, we have grown so much since then. He is now almost two thriving but still has the same dedication surrounding him that was shown at the beginning! My daughter started attending weeks after him seeing Sara P and we started addressing her sensory struggles. As those struggles grew and an autism diagnosis came along it was less scary having a support team helping guide us and our daughter.
The owner Stephanie has checked in personally on me as a parent, my children and their progress and has offered just a kind hello or a supportive hug when she could see it was needed.
When coming here you get so much more than you can imagine, every person who works here has a kind heart, sense of humor and truly cares for your family. It is a true blessing.

I cannot speak highly enough about SDOT. My son has been seeing Sara P.for almost one year now and I have seen a real transformation. He has come so far, and I owe that to Sara's hard work and dedication.

Had my sons evaluation for school and honestly they were very unprofessional. When they assessed him at their business my son came out crying I asked the girl what had happened, she turned around and left. When it was time for conference with school the person that called wasn’t the one that did the report.

We have been so happy working with SDOT. Our son has sensory disgraphia which was diagnosed in first grade when we realized his handwriting was not progressing properly. The whole-brain approach taken by SDOT was exactly what we were looking for. The amazing thing was that we did not realize this issue was impacting his ability to read (he seemed to be keeping up), but after working with his therapist for several months, his reading made amazing improvements as his ability to track and focus improved in his sessions. We've been with SDOT for two years now and they have provided such wonderful support. I can't imagine navigating elementary school without them.

I absolutely love San Diego Occupational Therapy. The time we spent there made such a difference in my two boys' lives. The therapists were incredible- so knowledgeable, caring and professional. The assessment reports we received were extremely detailed. They worked with the boys on different things based on their individual needs and goals. Each boy made tremendous progress while being at SDOT. I grew as a parent as well from talking with the therapists after each session. They went above and beyond to make sure that they shared what they did and what we could work on. They were even open to sharing information with the boys' teachers when it was helpful. I can't say enough about SDOT and how much they did for our family. I would highly recommend them.

This place is hands down the best OT place! My son (now 5) has been receiving OT services since he was 4 months old. I saw no changes whatsoever until I found SDOT last year. He has made such tremendous growth in his time with Miss Alanna and I am so grateful. His writing, drawing, coloring, balance, and more has vastly improved. My daughter now also goes to SDOT for milder concerns and is thriving with Miss Erin. Thank you to everyone at SDOT for providing such a comprehensive, evidence based OT service!

This review is long overdue. I’ve been taking my daughter to SDOT for many years now. Her disease is extremely rare and there are only a select few therapists and doctors I trust to work with her. To emphasize, when she was a baby we were told her life expectancy was four years; today she’s eleven and we will continue to only put her precious life into the hands of the best. I do my due diligence, and it is my belief that SDOT is just that: the best.

Both Stephanie and Sara work in tandem as my daughter is immobile and requires multiple people to transfer/lift her and move her around. In fact, they utilize so much of their equipment and expansive gym with her, it’s practically OT and PT rolled into one. They work tirelessly, nonstop, with such passion and dedication. And what touches my heart every single time we come in (once a week) is the genuine joy I see in their faces, both when they greet us, and after the session when they take time to share how it went. They’re kind, supportive, patient, they listen and respect me as a parent. They’re a wealth of knowledge and always eager to share anything that might be of value to us at home or school.

Stephanie and Sara are a source of comfort to me because I know my child is in great hands with them, and I know she’s truly cared for. I wouldn’t drive an hour round trip every week if that weren’t the case!

I also want to add that while I only have experience with Stephanie and Sara, I sit in the waiting room and see many therapists interact with patients and their families, and it’s always a positive and happy environment. There are kids with many different needs, and they all seem to be in very qualified hands.

I would recommend SDOT to anyone, without hesitation.

As a pediatric focused naturopathic doctor SDOT is the only OT clinic I’ll refer to because I see RESULTS. The owner, Dr. Stephanie Drummond, is incredibly passionate about her work and I’m confident my patients are in good hands when I send them over. I’ve seen picky eating transform, sensory processing issues disappear, constipation improve, and more. I wish every child around the country could have access to the caliber of services SDOT provides. Not all OT centers are the same and I’m so grateful to have a clinic like SDOT so close by.
