San Diego Surf School

Huge thanks to our instructor, Brennan, for being so nice, patient, and helpful! Our first time surfing was a special memorable experience - we had a blast and can’t wait to surf again!

What a fun experience the 3 "kids" had at their surfing lesson. Their instructor was perfect. He got all three of them (12,13,15) standing up on their first try. Amazing. Parents loved watching.

This was a great experience for me. I took a private lesson with Matthew and had a great time. He was very knowledgeable and kept things very simple for me. I’m a beginner, and with his instructions, I managed to get up on the board several times. Great job, I highly recommend this school!

My friend and I had a shared lesson with Dimitri, and had little to no experience. He had us riding the waves in less than a half hour and by the third try we were able to ride them to the shore. He was very clear with his instructions, they weren't ambiguous nor were they too complicated. The location of the lesson was a great spot for catching waves and is a short walk from the shop. It seems locals and tourists alike come to this spit for surf. Excellent place for beginners!

As a teacher myself, the instruction was poor. They got us on the water, but the quality and care of the instruction was questionable.

I booked surf lessons for my family while on vacation and let me tell you- it was the highlight of our whole trip. Sam was able to get all 4 of us on a couple of waves. We had an absolute blast. Can’t wait to come back again!

Josh Florez was incredible. I literally stood up on the first wave with his tutelage. I am definetely coming back to learn some more.

I went with a couple friends for a 3-1 class and it was an amazing time. The instructor help us get up and we all had a blast would definitely recommend.

First day out on the water with San Diego Surf School was awesome. I did a private lesson which meant my teacher took me out further than the other group lessons into the waves where the locals were. It was great - water was clear, weather was perfect, saw schools of fish and stingrays while waiting for waves. It was ideal. Rob was awesome, he gave me great instructions. Super nice, patient and encouraging. Highly recommend you work with SD Surf School and ask for Rob!

We had a great time! Josh was a great teacher. He let me know what was causing my wipeouts and how to fix them. Within an hour of picking up a board, I was riding a wave! The second day built on the first (but the conditions were a little stronger). I am looking forward to returning and progressing. Thanks!

Fantastic company, Riley, my instructor was awesome. Everything went exactly as it was spelled out ahead of time. I'm 58 and I was surfing the first day. Can't wait to go back, soon!

Our experience was great. Our daughter had soo much fun, she learned soo much the instructor was awesome and very patient. I would recommend this class no matter the age or skill level. Thanks soo very much the Brooks family.

Kids had a lot of fun with private lessons with instructors Ken, Brooke and Reed. They were friendly, easily explained concepts to kids and got them up on the board and riding waved in no time. Very pleasant team.

Had a great time with Sky & Josh. They were knowledgeable and helpful and definitely got us interested in a new, exhilarating sport!
