Staff were really helpful and friendly and the bikes were in good condition.

They were very competitively priced, cost us nearly half the price of another local company a couple of days earlier for the same duration.

It's been on my bucketlist to bike across the Golden Gate Bridge and it took me living in SF for almost 2 years to finally make it happen. A friend and I booked our bicycle rentals online just an hour before we headed over to Fisherman's Wharf. Book online to save 20% off, which came out to $25.60 per person for an all day rental. Although there's three locations, we found the Fisherman's Wharf location to be most ideal.

Really Great Place, professional and helpful personal. We did a 45mi 3400ft night difference Tour to the Marin Headlands on the other side of the Golden Gate Bridge. Everything worked well and we had a great time

Stacy and Chris were amazing to me and my friends, they very much helped with all our questions and even went as far as to teach my girlfriend how to ride a bike which is great in my book, definitely will head there again for bike rental for now on!

Mike the attendant was very informative. He answered all of our questions. He spent ample time with us. He was extremely knowledgeable even on where to safely park. He made our ride a smooth and successful one.

Rented bikes from here and Gavin was awesome. When we returned the bikes, Bushaib (?) was so incredibly rude and complained about us not returning the bikes in the same location (which is allowed for $6 extra), saying Gavin is stupid and always does everything wrong, then laughed at my wife for asking for the receipt (“did you not hear what I just said? ”).

Totally unprofessional. Bushaib who works in the Haight 1816 location means we won’t recommend this place.

Customer service was pleasant, prices are reasonable, pick-up and drop-off a breeze. Unfortunately the bikes did not match the pictures (or even each other), lower-end model and significantly dinged up. Mechanically they were functional, but suffered from some sticky brakes and squeaking.

The guys working there are really cool and sympathic. The rates are clearly good too. It’s been a good ride, merci beaucoup!

We rented two bikes which functioned perfectly and were half the price of the other places we checked. They gave good directions. We had a great trip across the bridge and we're so glad we went a little further to Tiburon.

Hiring a bike and cycling over the bridge is a lovely experience and I recommend it. However, I think you'd be better off getting your bike from one of the other places nearby.

When I booked my hire bike, I went with this place because it was cheapest (albeit not that much cheaper). The pick-up process went fine, although I was never offered a helmet. My bike however had a wide, uncomfortable saddle that made cycling relatively less pleasant and detracted from the experience. I think they are aiming at tourist cyclists who don't regularly cycle (and maybe I should have booked a better bike?) but it's certainly safe to say that the "comfort" option is not what it claims to be.

Returning was also not great. One good thing is they have other locations you can return to (for a $6 fee). What wasn't clear to me is that the other locations close at a different time - so I had to race to drop my bike off in time. I had been told to get there 15 minutes before closing time, and got there 10m before closing time. The person proceeded to berate me. Dropping the bike off did take surprisingly long, but this was because of their system - first they tried to make me pay *again* for my reservation, then once we clarified that they struggled to process the $6 drop-off fee. And all through it I'm copping flack for being late. Seemed a bit outrageous to me.

I haven't tried them but I suspect that 'blazing saddles' offers better bikes and a better experience.

I don’t recommend using this company: old bikes and not well maintained. I had a loose sit in my bike and did the trip unpleasantly and had to do an early return. Also, my partner had 5 gears only on her bicycle that made a slow and uncomfortable ride. Not enough for a “comforters bikes”.

Excellent, easy service. The only place with real road bikes! Best way to spend 2 hours seeing the city. Highly recommend

I has to try out 3 bikes before having a functional bike. Kinda annoying when I was in a hurry and unprofessional. The owner seemed annoyed at me for not being satisfied with the first two bikes that had challenges with gear shifting. Also the third bike ended up having problems with its front brakes. Bad experience. Also I didn’t receive the promised discount so all in al 38 dollars bad spent!

Very impressed, they are friendly, helpful and have a great selection of good bikes for all skill levels.

Especially as SF is such a great place to cycle with tons of dedicated cycle lanes this place is highly recommended

Great customer service! Gavin-mentioned Happy Birthday to my son since my sister arranged the bike rental for his birthday. Gavin located our homeland flags which was impressive and added the stickers on each bike. The hybrid bikes worked out well. We started of at the Golden Gate park location. I recommend you enjoy riding through the park on the way to the Golden Gate Bridge.

The customer service at this location was fantastic during pickup and drop off. They did what they could do.

Unfortunately, the 2 star rating is due to the two bikes we received. The bikes were very old. The frame was dented and dusty, wheels had no tread left and the gears were terrible which made our overall ride experience dreadful and uncomfortable.

We made a reservation prior to pick up, and would expect “good” bikes to be reserved for us. We were given leftover bikes that nobody wanted. The groups ahead of us were seen switching their bikes many times, which left us to receive the bottom of the barrel, unwanted, disgusting bikes.

We also noticed, they would take walk in bike renters, and they received “good” bikes. Later, the team ended up turning away a few guests because they had “no more” to rent out for that time slot. Yet, they had to do what they can to fulfill our reservation with the bad bikes. In hindsight, we should have went elsewhere if they would have let us refund our reservation.

Looking around at the other bikes people were using, it was visible the ones we received were run down and over-used compared to other companies. I would not recommend renting from SF Bicycle Rentals at all. Some of the photos posted in other reviews would be the better bikes, if you’re lucky with your timing of pickup, maybe you’ll get one those. Otherwise, you’ll have the worst activity experience in the Bay Area, like we did.

I had a great experience with SF Bicycle Rentals from my first call to reserve the bike to dropping it off. I rented for a race in SF and they helped with the fitchanging out pedals and offered up a flat kit for me during the race. Very kind, polite and helpful staff! The bike was a Specialized Allez and rode very well. Thanks SF Bicycle Rentals!
