Quite possibly the best park in San Francisco! Definitely a must visit, and free for the residents of SF. Many well laid out sections ranging from exotic flowers to trees from around the world. Feels like you are not even in the city. Bring a picnic blanket and enjoy!

Alot of ground to cover, and we tried in 3 hours but got pooped. Signage is unclear in several spots making specific destinations a real quandry.

At the very least this is a place to walk around or sit & enjoy d peaceful surroundings. But it so much more. For example you can walk to the various areas to learn about the types of plants from various environments in places throughout the world. You can jog around or picnic here. Once a year in the summer you can come listen to music being played on 12 different pianos being played by professional & amateur musicians during several days & at least one evening. These pianos are scattered throughout the garden. This event is known as flower piano.
In late January & into early March at times, it's magnolia blooming season & it's so beautiful there then.
Every season brings an enjoyment of it's plants & flowers that one can learn about & enjoy.

There's so much to see, and it's all beautiful! The paths are well defined and very easy to traverse. There are a ton of little nooks to rest and soak in nature.

Want to get lost in a beautiful garden? Or do you need to get away from the stress of the city. The botanical garden, located in Golden gate Park, is a great place to play hooky from the world. The garden is broken up into different segments, by type of plant and different countries. It was interesting to see what plants are prevalent in different countries. There are hidden spots in the garden, if you'd like a little privacy. Or a huge grassy area for a picnic. It's a fantastic date spot, if you're located in the city or nearby area. I would wear comfortable walking shoes. Also, bring something to drink and eat, if you're planning on being in the garden for several hours. There isn't a place to purchase food or drinks. Or bring a book and enjoy the beautiful scenery. IG: SACRAMENTOHONEY

Beautiful and relaxing park. You have to pay but worth your money. You can spend at least a couple hours here and there are two public bathrooms.

The gardens are beautiful and well maintained. Perfect place to stroll with friends and loved ones. Free to SF residents and reasonably priced for visitors. Check out the "prehistoric plants"!

Even on a rainy day (yes there are rainy days in San Francisco) these gardens do not disappoint! We especially loved the Succulent Garden, and walking the intimate Redwood Glade where there is lots of seating.
March looks like a great time to catch just the end of the magnolia blooms AND the start for Azaleas and Rhododendron. The native California plants are just waking from Winter and will soon be in Bloom!
Free to San Francisco residents (show your ID) or a $9 adult donation.

Great experience! Wonderful place for a family picnic, walk, or just for sitting on the bench and staring at the beautiful nature around us.

Things were just starting to bloom and everything was so was so green. I went on a rainy day but that only made it more magical. This is easily one of my favorite spots in SF!

Beautiful landscaping with an abundance of flora spread across a pretty large garden. The signage is clear with sections labeled perfectly. Great for a walk or picnic.

Wonderful in any season, but I especially recommend the early spring magnolia walk, dahlias, the scent garden, ancient plants and rhododendrons. A happy place for me for sure. An affordable day out, (especially for SFers, for whom it is FREE.)

Free entrance for SF residents! Staff is very friendly and helpful. Way larger than you'd expect, I'll usually discover something new every time I come here. If you come in the late winter, magnolias will be in bloom, and they're gorgeous! Plenty of wildlife around the small pond area as well. Great for kids.

Went there in late December and mid March with the family. Unique and diverse gardens representing different geographies. Short trails. Fresh air. Beautiful and exotic flowers.

Came here during magnolia season.the garden is not free unless you are a member or SF resident, but it is still a great place to wander around and get to know plants from other continents.

A beautiful place. Watch the carp swim in the pond, ducks, geese, and great blue herons also reside there. Plenty of places to sit, and a couple of restrooms. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention the trees and plants!

Love this place! It’s so peaceful, with lots to look at or just a great place to relax and enjoy the beautiful surroundings. Could do with better info on plant species, not all of them are there or obvious. Despite this, it’s a lovely way to spend an afternoon in SF.
