San Francisco Cable Car Museum reviews
15Free museum with information about how the cablecars work, as well as housing the motors that drive the cables
So cool! I had no idea this was actually the working location for all the cables that are operating in San Francisco today. Amazing educational and fun
This is a nice museum. Loved looking at all the history of the cable car. It's free so definitely come take a look.
It is clean.
And there are restrooms. The stall doors are a bit too high though.
Free to Enter Museum that shows how it is working.
Cable Car Stops are at the Museum so you can go there by cable car
Pretty cool place. It is amazing to see how far reaching the cable car service was in the city. And even more amaizing that it all still works. Also the souvenir shop is actually full of cute SF and cable care themed useful things.
A nice museum telling the history of San Francisco's cable cars. It's just that the museum is relatively small.
A little noisy and with no one to guide you. It is also quite informative and interesting.
A free museum where you can learn about the structure and history of San Francisco's cable cars. You can see the huge power source of the cable car in operation up close, and it's fun for everyone from children to adults.
Although it is within walking distance from Union Square, it is a fairly steep climb up and down a hill, so if you have small children or the elderly with you, we recommend taking the cable car.
The Cable Car Museum was an awesome stop! Not only is it free, it has such a wealth of information on the history of cable cars, but also how they work.
The car barn and powerhouse for the world's last & only in-use cable cars. Note: NOT the same as a trolley!
You can literally see the wires of this 150+ year-old system STILL churning all of San Fran's cable cars. Has the WORLD'S OLDEST cable car on site. And for those interested in learning the history, the mechanics, or just interesting periods of SF & world history.highly recommend stopping by.
Free admission, too!
Very good museum! I learned a lot about the engineering aspects of the Cable Car system, because they broke it down in very simple terms. Plus, because Cable Cars are such a quintessential port of the city, learning about the history of the Cable Car really gave you a good history lesson of San Fran as well.
Quick little free museum (leave a donation if you can) in an operational powerhouse for the SF cable car system. If you are in Chinatown it's worth a visit.
Great place to visit to get some good history of the San Francisco cable car history. A lot of information is on the walls and there is a video too. Spent an hour here and thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience. Free entry and donations are appreciated.
Know there will be a line. Waiting time could pass 20 minutes.
No drinks allowed inside.
My tip is to wait at the end of the station and turn around.
I really enjoyed learning about the San Francisco Cable Cars and seeing all of the mechanisms that make the system work! It's definitely one of the cooler museums that I've seen in SF! It's free to visit!
