San Francisco Marriott Union Square

Third time I'm staying there. Great location for exploring downtown San Francisco. Also close to the convention centre (important for me, at least). Usual Marriott quality of lodging and services. Recommended.

The rooms are small and the facilities are similar to that of a business hotel, but the location is good.

I stayed at this hotel on weekend of last December, 2023.
Average Marriott hotel with good location of union square. I prefer to W San Francisco in MoMA, whose casualty makes me imagine budget design hotel like IBIS of Accor.

Platinum members are entitled to have complementary continental breakfast on weekend instead of lounge access. Additional 10 USD is required to upgrade full breakfast buffet.

The staff was absolutely fantastic. Doormen were the best that I have ever encountered worldwide and helped my family and I to have a wonderful time

The front desk and doorman were very friendly. I checked to see if there was anything I could help with and did my best to help. I went to LA and LV on this business trip, and the Wi-Fi was the fastest among the hotels I stayed at.

We stayed here while on holidays. The staff were amazingly friendly. From the desk staff to the door men to the security it was an amazing stay. We felt safe here although some reviews say otherwise. Your room key was your access to most places including lifts to your floor. We had a great stay here and it is a great location to public transport. Just a minutes walk from the hotel is the cable car. A ten minutes stroll is the train station.

The hotel provided clean rooms, excellent service, and a very friendly staff in a fantastic location. The internet connection was reliable. Although I didn't have the chance to try the food and breakfast during my 5-night stay, I had a positive experience overall.

Honestly, I am amazed at the level of customer care which was demonstrated in my recent one night stay.
My wife and I had breakfast in the restaurant and unfortunately, one of her treasured pearl earrings had fallen out of her ear. It was a family heirloom and valuable at an emotional level. The waiter, Rob, started by alerting all the staff at the restaurant and at the front desk. After closing the restaurant, the floor was swept and the pearl was found. This is after an initial twenty minute search. About a hour later, the front desk called to let us know they had recovered the pearl. They kept it in their safe for 3 weeks until we were able to return to retrieve it.

I find this event exceptional, in that everyone felt the same concern and urgency, making it possible to retrieve the item.

That is a demonstration of the proverbial “above and beyond” mentality.

We couldn’t be more grateful.

A Fantastic place, easier access to iconic sites, my family loves to stay here, will recommend Kelly at front desk as she is extremely helpful to Filipino tourists loved in going back

Overall, this hotel was very nice. The rooms are clean, the amenities are good, the views are fantastic, the employees are very nice, and the lounge was comfy. It's also across the street from a Starbucks which is great for when you need to get a quick hit of caffeine!

This place was awesome. The rooms were nice and comfy. I enjoyed their service and would highly recommend it if you are staying in SF.

Exhorbitant $ in every category.

Great location with access to public transport, restaurants and shops. Reception and housekeeping staff were all friendly. Room was very clean and had all the amenities I needed. There’s a fridge, coffee maker, iron and plenty of wardrobe space. The only downside was there is no free internet. It costs $14 per day to use their Wi-fi.

We were in town for the last dead & co shows. We stayed here bc it was easy to get to the airport without a car and it was close enough to the stadium. There were friendly faces opening the door for us as we arrived and every time we left as well. The staff at the front desk was super helpful & so were the staff at the bar & restaurant. The rooms were very clean, updated and fully equipped with everything we needed for our stay. I highly recommend this hotel!

Overall I liked this hotel. All of the staff I interacted with were helpful and kind. The room was for the most part comfortable and clean. The location was better than I expected - the surrounding streets felt reasonably safe and clean, and it’s walkable to various public transit that worked well (BART and muni from Powell street station, the 45 bus to the Marina & presidio via Chinatown, etc).

There were a few things that could have been better:
1. On our first night there I noticed I was getting bug bites in bed. I did not sleep well. The next day I found this live insect in the bed! (See photo)
2. They provided a breakfast voucher due to our Marriott status but didn’t tell us until after we sat down to breakfast that the voucher doesn’t cover all of the items at the breakfast buffet, and then they surprise charged us an extra $20 for the eggs.
3. Our reservation was for a junior suite and they did not honor that and just gave us a regular room.
4. The gym is actually pretty nice (decently well equipped, looks reasonably clean, big windows letting in light) but a lot of the machines were out of order. Neither stationary bike would turn on (the maintenance guy was super nice to take a look at them and try to troubleshoot) and of the 3 ellipticals, 1 was out of order and 1 seemed damaged when I tried to use it.

Definitely in the best place. Union square is blocks away. Service was excellent. And rooms were emaculant.

I need to take a moment to brag about how amazing the staff and service has been here! While hosting a large meeting here, there were a couple bumps in the road, bumps happen.what makes the difference is the staff going up and beyond the call of duty. Dennis was top notch! Bruno was a pleasure and joy to work with (the kind of manger who takes care of guests and his employees - this is rare gem to find these days!). The staff seems to get better each day we are here! The attention to detail and the effort being put forth has been amazing! I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for top notch service for an event! We have a room. I'm sure it's amazing. I was in there for about 3.5 hours after setting up for this meeting and coming down to host it. I'm sure the rooms are wonderful.the bed felt like a dream for the 3.5 hours I was in it.
Derek the security guard was so friendly and took great care of our area while we weren't in the space. The door men are wonderful! The bell man was so wonderful! And a special thanks to Nicole to helping make our meeting happen here. I will be back for the next meeting in the area happily!
