San Francisco Museum of Modern Art reviews
15 It’s a decent museum in the heart of SF. It has several floors spacious enough for any exhibition.
The “living wall” (huge wall of real plants) adds an environmental GREEN value and I think we should start converting bare spaces into this to offset our environmental footprints.
The cafe is very relaxing.
I love the SF MOMA. The rotating artists are great, the Sculpture Garden and the Cafe are great, to just stop in on a lazy afternoon. The Museum Store is our go to for Christmas gifts every year.
So fortunate to have this beautiful museum in the Bay Area. Interesting space and large enough that you can breathe with the paintings.
I was disappointed. Joan Mitchell is not my cup of tea-and her exhibit dominated MOMA. Then there was the Santa Barbara exhibit which was a little too raw for the venue.
I loved the exhibits, especially the abstraction exhibit.
It was the perfect place to while away a rainy afternoon. Perfect.
This place is quite wonderful to go to on a date. There is seven floors of art magic. They have a huge breathtaking display on the bottom floor honoring Diego Rivera. There's also this monochromatic tube to walk through. Through that is absolutely beautiful both ways that you walk through. Unfortunately there are a lot of lines, but depending on the time of day they go pretty fast. There currently
An amazing museum. Simply a blast. The museum can be fully explored in a day, but for the full experience, I recommend spreading over two days.
A progressive art museum which shows the new era of modern art, the museum has large collection of modern paintings, sculptures, photographs.
I love the new renovation. We saw the Joan Mitchell show, a power house of an Abstract Expressionist painter. The food in the sculpture garden was excellent — better than expected.
It's the worst museum I have ever been to. The facility was not well ventilated and very warm. The two employees checking tickets were strange and chatty with each other, and lacked any form of professionalism. There was only a handful of good art pieces that were worthy of any attention. The optics display was one of them but you are given only forty seconds to view it and perhaps take one good photo if you're lucky. This place is overpriced and overrated. Save your time and money by staying away from it.
I have traveled the world and mind you I've seen a lot of art. The art in this museum could have been better. The mood of the museum was not great - could have been painted with brighter colors like fluorescent or pink. The exhibits itself probably required a lot of lighting since the subject matter was very industrial and gaudy. As an art connoisseur in the art business, I think they should have bought better art or commissioned art from other overpriced artists. Please reconsider your art.
Came on a rainy day but worth coming any day. Beautifully created expositions. Definitely becoming a member to come here as often as possible.
Really loves it here. It was $50 for my wife and I to check it out on a Monday afternoon but it’s worth it. We spent about 2 hours there starting from the top floor down but I figure 3 hours would be more appropriate.
We love this museum! Always new art and of course our faves. Right now they have Diego Rivera mural on loan from City College that is truly spectacular.
SF MOMA Always excellent. Dessert is to take in huge Diego Rivera pic. Oh, Free to see! Be certain to see it.
