My son and daughter attend SCVi and for the first time ever, are enthusiastic about what they’re learning and excited to share that with our family. They set their own learning goals and are incredibly proud when they accomplish them! I used to have the impression that this school was for “troubled” children, but now, I believe that if children are “troubled” and not getting the support they need, the school shares in some of that responsibility. I think it’s important for us as adults to stop stereotyping children who are struggling and come together as a community to support them, so thank you SCVi for doing just that! SCVi leadership and facilitators have my heart ️ because they genuinely enjoy my kids like I do!

I honestly can’t believe this school hasn’t been shut down yet, it’s a complete joke. Warning if you send your child here they won’t learn anything what so ever and won’t be able to think for themselves. The worst part of it all is the teachers, they are oblivious and uneducated. This school hires the worst staff that they could possibly find!

They test the students 3 times per year, with a national NWEA MAP test, to make sure students are placed in the right classes. I was disappointed with LAUSD. LAUSD, was very cookie cutter. My son was beginning to hate school, then we switched to SCVi, and the project based learning, really instilled creativity, and the love vfc e of learning! He is now unstoppable, when it comes to learning! He even researches school subjects, on his own time. The school is also an International Baccalaureate, which some colleges, prefer over AP courses. It is also k-12 school, so he can keep his friends for as long time:)

My friend who goes here says they do Hamilton: An American Musical every year for musical theater. I was thinking about transferring to this school and was just wondering if it was true. Please like this if it's true.

My daughters, now in 6th grade, have been attending SCVi since kindergarten. Initially, we chose SCVi for our children because we were looking for a school that was in-line with our educational values; supports intrinsic motivation; and one that would help them to become self-directed individuals. SCVi checked all of our boxes. SCVi has provided our children with opportunities to become creative and independent, their learning exeriences have given them an amazing foundation from which they can continue to learn and grow.

I came across SCVi by accident on Spring while looking for summer camps for our 2 children. I noticed the camp was being held at the SCVi campus and was curious to learn more about the school. The philosophy was inline with what my husband and I had been talking about as we watched our children grow and learn in very different ways. We felt uncomfortable in the boxed learning style that was being offered and what we both suffered through. Discovering the school came at the perfect time as we were considering a move outside of the city. I sent in our application, received an immediate reply, and both of our kids filled the last slots in their grade level. We moved that summer and now wrapping up our first year at SCVi. It has been an adjustment in learning style for 1 of our kids who is less self motivated than the other and also adjusting to a new community and school from all that they have ever know. The facilitators, leadership, administration, and many parents have offered so much support above and beyond the call of duty. The school really cares about all of the kids but more importantly for us, we really felt the care for our children with their particular needs in social, emotional, & intellectual development. I have a better handle on how to support our children next year as the program really involves partnership between the facilitators, parents, and students. It's really important that families are aware that if you're coming from a traditional learning environment that your children will benefit from the program the most when you are actively involved with the facilitators (teachers) and support the learning at home along with them. It's really co-creating the best learning experience for your child to ensure their lifelong success and help them perform to a level to get into any college that they choose. SCVi and the iLead program promotes leadership in not just the students but staff and families. If you're looking for the "perfect" program for your children, you won't be able to find it - anywhere. Is this program perfect? No. Have we second guessed our decision? Yes. Are we planning to stay next year? Yes. Do we recommend the school & program? Yes! Lastly, it's scary to venture outside of the "box" but giving it a try is worth it and you can trust that you will have a community to support you & your child at this school. We look forward to the journey next year as our kids go into the 7th & 8th grades!

I posted previously giving the school at four stars, but after my son was home sick for a couple days last week and we had some frank talks about school, I think it deserves five stars. The reason is not just what he gets out of school but the ripple effect on how it’s altered the way he is at home and shifted our family dynamics for the better. Because of how he relates to school, he is happier and brings that attitude home with him. We still have typical teen stress over screen time usage and chores, but he’s a lot more responsible because he is learning about taking personal responsibility at school.

We are a long time family of SCVi in Santa Clarita; my kids have attended for 9 years now and are graduating in a month. While I truly believe there is no perfect school, SCVi comes pretty darn close for us. It has allowed our kids (3 of them - all very different in learning styles) to flourish in their own strengths, while being supported and nurtured by an incredible staff of facilitators and educators. I am so grateful to them for providing a safe and exciting environment for my kids to learn and grow into the independent young adults they now are. All of my kids needed a little something different - they are all dynamic individuals who are carving their own paths; SCVi was able to hone in on their personal strengths and challenges - and cultivate a personalized learning plan for each of them, all the while stimulating them across the board with a variety of art, sports and multi-cultural opportunities. I would do it all over again, too - SCVi has been an incredible blessing in our lives!

My son is so much happier and engaged in learning since coming to SCVi. The project-based learning model makes so much more sense nowadays. He also is forced to take more personal responsibility for his work and is not motivated solely by grades or fear of teachers. The restorative justice model also enables me to feel confident that problems will be resolved fairly. He is respectful in dealing with "authority figures" because they act respectfully toward him.

Both of my children have been attending SCVi since kindergarten. We love the PBL experience. It is truly hands on cross curricular learning.

My daughter has been going to SCVI since kindergarten, she's in 3rd grade now. The staff are very caring and supportive. They are genuinely interested in my child's development and helping her to succeed. The school is very hands on, and runs best when the parents take an active roll in their child's education and development. The classes are all - inclusive, meaning you will have children with different learning abilities and needs in the same class. SCVI is a wonderful fit for my daughter. She loves coming to school each day and is excited to learn! We are thankful to have such a great school available in our area!

This school has been a completely different experience than what we encountered with the local public schools. My son is challenging and is “all boy. ” For those of you who are around children understand what I mean by “all boy. ” Since we have enrolled my son at SCVi he has had a different outlook on his education. He actually wants to go to school and is growing! He is enouraged to discuss content and interact with the children and peers. He is challenged with responsibilities and required to be held accountable. I feel he is getting more life preparedness from this school than the public school. The facilitators and leadership team are amazing! They are dedicated to work with parents and to help the children grow, I must add extremely PATIENT.:) I truly feel they strive to allow each child success. Children learn differently and sometimes require more than just a packet of paperwork to do while siting at a desk. SCVi is that place. I am not saying it is perfect and there are somethings that I would like to see changed and improved. The nice thing is the entire team is open to discuss my thoughts and ideas and I believe they will only continue to get better. The other major perk at this school is they not only teach academics but they also educate on physcial and emotional education as well. The tools needed for a child to grow up and be a successful “good” citizen, good person, however you want to say it. It is just fantastic life skills everyone needs to be equipped with to succeed and live in our world today.
Many parents and other teachers told me several negative facts about SCVi when it became known I was moving my child there. Everything that I heard negative has NOT been true AT ALL! My advice would be to go and observe more than once, hang out see how they do things, and ask questions I mean talk with the children there. You will be impressed. Do not pass judgment if you go on one tour because it very different than a traditional public school setting. If you take the time to watch and evaluate you will see the tremendous opportunity for growth the children there have. You have to have an open mind as a parent and be willing to break away from the norm. It has been difficult for me at times but I feel like my son is at the right school.
I am thrilled that we have a school like this local. Thank you to the entire team at SCVi for providing a great education for my child.

My girlfriend's kid's have been going to this school for 9 years, and they are doing GREAT.
Not only are they smart, but more importantly to me and their Mom is that they are good world citizens, who take care of each other and their community.

Student here. If you are a parent considering this school, (which I shall assume you are) Please, anything but this place. You'd be better sending your child off to the local penitentiary, now I'm not writing this because I dislike the amounts of work we have to do, which is regularly little to none. I'm writing this review due to the major issues that I have had within my 2 years at this school. Now, trying to list off the majority of the problems here is definitely going to be a hard one, but for your convenience, I will list off 3

- THE FIRST OF THREE
Now I'm going to start this one with the biggest issue, drug problems. I understand that each school has this problem, but it still needs to be mentioned. Recently, as of today. A child (Not naming for their own privacy) had been caught with vaping paraphernalia inside of their backpack, right after a week or so of us discussing the issues with vaping and drugs similar to it. There's also been others who have been doing the same, Only as of today has action been taken.

- THE DUO OF THE TRIO
The kids here are also a problem. For those of you who can't see the map, we have a Jack In The Box right across from campus, That seems cool! Yeah, its nice to have a restaurant nearby. But on the other hand when the majority of the kids going there are uneducated hoodlums making the 16 year old pimply faced employee working for minimum wage feel like garbage, its just an awful place to go. I've been there of recently, Someone had cut open an ice pack using an X-ACTO blade that they had on them (There was also cuts on his arm, I assume he was either cutting himself, or something else had happened) and had let the gelatin substance leak out onto the table. Obviously people had gathered around the table, one person slapping the substance proclaiming "THAT'S AS SOFT AS MY GIRLFRIEND'S ASS" Not only is this an issue, but name calling and alike is quite a problem. For the past 2 years, I've been continuously name-called by a specific group of people. Yes, I've told the teachers, and yes, they have done little to nothing to stop this issue.

- THE THIRD LAYER OF HELL
Now, for the last issue of this place, The administration, truly vile, disgusting, wretched people. As many others have seem to point out, the "special" or as I shall put it in a more sophisticated term, retarded children, are put in regular classes, and are expected to function normally. Either put them in separate classes, or, Well or I don't know what to do otherwise. One other thing is the way how disasters are handled. This was mostly seen when the Ventura fire happened. Administration sent what was only a sentence of an email, telling parents to get their children. No other information than that. When that was done, they got out as fast as possible, and forcing the teachers to do everything. I was in the room, We were waiting for our teacher to receive a text on what to do. We moved AT LEAST 4 different times that day. Although I wasn't there for what had happened, they had tried to cram 60 or so kids into 4 minivans, and drive them off to an evacuation site. It was complete and total disorder.

Well, this is the end of this lengthy review, I know you're going to skim through it, so in shorter terms, The place has issues. Until the administration can get their burdens solved, don't send your children here. Goodnight.

- A concerned student.

What can I say except. I wish I found this school so much earlier! It would have saved so much heartache for my kids and I if I had, but thank g-d I found it, better late then never they say, right? I have both of my children here at this school, one in 7th and the other in the upper school in 9th grade. Both of my kids love this school so much, they are so supported here have made tight friendships, and have grown by leaps and bounds compared to the other schools they had gone to where support was not given to the extent that SCVi gives. They are both now so much more confident and growing into their own individuality beautifully by leaps and bounds. If your looking for a school that is their for you and your child's learning then this is it! I don't think any other school can compare.

My daughter has attended Ms. Megan's class at SCVi for 3 years, TK - 1st grade. She is thriving, and happy. She never wants to miss a day of school. She is progressing well academically. Between Ms. Megan and I, she will receive any extra instruction ever needed. I am a highly involved parent, which the school encourages, and I appreciate the social emotional priority given to each child.
