Santa Ramen, San Mateo CA

Fantastic ramen at a reasonable price. Meat is soft. Broth is tasty. Noodle has the right texture.

I had the standard Santa ramen $14 with miso broth, mild spice. The broth had a deep kotteri flavor. You can see the light oil dots at the top of the broth. Sometime miso broth is overly salty, but this broth did not have this problem. The roasted pork was excellent, extremely tender and flavorful. The half egg was hard boiled. I prefer a soft boiled center, but maybe they can't do that in US. The noodles were on the slightly thicker side with good firm bite. The quantity was standard. One of us ordered kaedama (extra noodles) and it was just a larger amount of noodles, instead of a separate plate of noodles. Overall highly recommended.

Had been a few years since I went to Santa and it has only gotten better!

Pork cheek Yokohama flavor was so generous with giant pieces of meat, lots of nori, corn, etc. Egg was hard-boiled but otherwise perfection!

Takoyaki was fresh and tasty (made me miss Osaka)

Used to love this place but they're a victim of their own success. My wife placed a Door Dash order well in advance ofmy arrival. When I got there, they said they were "really busy" and that it would be another 30 minutes, and said so like it was perfectly reasonable to ask me to wait. It wasn't. Since they hadn't even started our order, I had them cancel it, which they cheerily agreed to do. One less annoying customer expecting food already paid for. They are now off our list permanently.

I have been missing ramen and pho. I always feel like these are foods I like to consume in the restaurant.

Delicious ramen. Normally I go to SF or the East bay but I was pleasantly surprised by this little place.
