Sapporo Sushi & Steakhouse reviews
17 We were looking forward to celebrating our first night in Monterey with some sushi. Read the reviews, did my research and decided to dine in.
The service was good (only for the fact of her demeanor, very sweet and light hearted) otherwise wasn’t very attentive.
The food…. We got the seaweed salad and garlic edamame to start. Seaweed salad was so dry and seemed to have been sitting out all day. The edamame was actually very flavorful but dried out. When we received the plates for our sushi they had dried food on them. The sushi was warm and rice seemed stale. The “fresh fish” def didn’t taste it. Overall we were very disappointed.
I can say regardless of prior good reviews, we will NOT be eating here again.
Kind staff, fast service and good food.
Excellent Hamachi! Couldn't ask for more!
It was a great experience. It was just me and my boyfriend for our 4 year anniversary. The service was so kind, and it’s a great place to come for birthdays too! We had been sat next to a nice family and it was their daughter birthday, they offered a cute fruit platter and they sang happy birthday in their unique way with drums and a bell. Food was great and their price was reasonable. This place is also right next to a beach! Literally. The place is clean, but it is very dark inside, but they have windows that show the view of the boat docks and the ocean. Very pretty.
We came here from out of town and if we are ever in Monterey again we will be coming here again. The food came out fast and hot. The Bam bam roll, the spicy pork and the jalapeno bomb were our favorites. The staff was very friendly and attentive, they promptly gave us drink refills too.
Definitely a better option than the nearby restaurants. Service and food is great with a slight view of the sea.
We sat in the regular dining area and enjoyed some great views of the harbor and awesome food. Everything was prepared + seasoned well and not one of our dishes was anything but good. Service was stellar, too. Wish we had a large enough group for hibachi, though. Sounded like a lot of fun on that side! Definitely happy we stopped in here
First time here.
Excellent service, sat right away. Killer views of the bay. Clean. Clean dining and clean restrooms. Our waitress was very attentive and quick to respond.
I'm not a huuuuge fan of Tempura, but my wife is. It was excellent. Not small but not overly large. The tempura sauce was really nice, shrimp, sweet potato, onion, and green bean. I highly recommend it.
We ordered the Sunset, Bam Bam, and the William. All were top-notch.
The sunset with lemon slices and add a little ginger is fresh and good and what you want.
The Bam-Bam had crazy good sauces.
The best was the William, great spices, killer flavor.
Service was exceptional. Julian did everything he could to accommodate us as they were short 1 cook. Food was good and beer was cold. Would go back but will sit on the teppanyaki side.
Tasty rolls. The white tuna tataki was super good, I highly recommend that. Garlic shrimp dish was good too. Not the best steak. Overall, if come again for the rolls and that white tuna tataki.
We went here because of the good reviews.
However for us the experience and service just didn't exceed average.
We had sushi which was freshly made, with an average taste and a bit small but still okay portions (sushi mostly come in a set of two)
So overall we hat an okay experience not particularly good nor bad, so felt 3 starts would rather reflect this than 4.6 as current rating.
Maybe the grill is better however we can not judge this.
Been here twice during our trips to Monterey and both visits have been very enjoyable. Thank you for a wonderful experience.
Had my 40th bday party here, and it was a blast! I was a little tipsy, but it seemed EVERYONE had a bday on August 26th that night. Their bday song with drums killed it!
I've been to many Teppanyaki over the years. This place has a beautiful view of the bay, but the food was very bland. Even the teriyaki sauce was subpar. I was not shocked however since this place seemed to cater to tourists more than anything. So quality can dip when they experience a surge of clients. But the fried rice had no vegetables, and was not seasoned well, the chicken was cooked very good, but was not seasoned well, and the sauce was very bland. The waiter was also non existent to the point we had to tell the chef to get a waiter for us to be able to refill our drinks or order something else. Very weird coming from a restaurant that seemed to have good staffing, long lines of customers coming to eat here and a prime location.
Very good food but the particular thing about this place is that there are both normal tables and tables with the plate for cooking in front of them.super fun waiters, perfect for an evening with friends
Friendly staff, great food, amazing views and all at a decent price. Will definitely return!
Worst hibachi ever. The chef didn’t talk the whole time, it was the most boring hibachi. Someone was celebrating his birthday at our table, that must be terrible experience for them. Also he failed on volcano twice. Just WOW.
The food is usually on point. The service is next level. The atmosphere feels like a party is getting ready to break out but at the same time relaxed. Awesome Place To Dine.
