Sather Gate reviews
11This is a neat place if you’re into college campus or history. The gate and the plaza are listed in the National Register of Historic Places for a reason.
It is a stunning and iconic landmark of the UC Berkeley campus, with its beautiful architecture and intricate details making it a must-see attraction for visitors and students alike.
Best to visit on a Sunday morning when the campus is a bit more quiet. They were on Spring break when I went - peaceful for walking around!
The feel of entering into UCBerkeley, right in the front you get to see the tall clock tower!
The cool green gate that shows up in lots of movies
Said "Stop putins war crimes" "Stop donate stand with Ukraine donate" right underneath when we visited!
You can feel the freedom of college.
The professor who gave us a tour of the campus said that it was a place where students used to hold anti-war demonstrations. So here are a lot of banners where students advertise social issues or campaign. The school newspaper is also distributed free of charge, and a poster is also posted.
Be sure to punch in the scenic spots to take pictures. Sather gate: The landmark gate of the University of California, Berkeley, built in 1910, has Beaux Arts decoration and ornate bronze work.
Indescribably ugly.
This is the ugliest college gate I have ever seen;
And they probably didn't pay for a cleaner, it was extremely dirty.
Ugly, so ugly. I can't describe how much I hate this school.
How can I put it, it's a good thing I don't study in this school.
Every time I step through this gate, I breathe a long sigh of relief and feel the sunshine bathing my body. It seems that I have experienced a new baptism of vision and three views, as if I have returned to myself. Same.
That's how this ugliness struck me.
On the right side, as you look at the gate from Sproul plaza, there is a hidden water fall and quiet sitting area behind the bike racks.
Great photo ops and it's fun to walk around on campus to see what all the clubs are up to.
